    Great video I learned a lot even after I have done this a few times. I feel more confident in doing it again and making it better. Thanks again and keep up the great videos.

    Kyle, since you have worked with both PLA+ and ABS, why did you choose PLA+ over ABS? There is a great post on astromech talking about the pros and cons of filements. It sounds like if you can dial in your settings for ABS, ABS is easier to sand and finish over PLA or PETG.....

      My personal past experience with ABS has never been as good as PLA or PETG. I just haven't taken the time to dial it in on my new machines. Maybe now is the time!

    Would definitely be more effective if you sanded vertical and not with the print lines. You are gonna pull way more material out of the print lines sanding in the same direction as the print. Sanding in small circles would be best. Great video for beginners though and I hope you continue this series all the way through an entire build.

      Definitely going to try to do the entire build!

    Great video. What printer was used to print the dome?

      I used the Comgrow T500 after having several failed prints and a lot of set up and tuning.

    hmm makes me wanna take on my r2 build again, started printing the body like 2 or 3 years ago but didn´t came out that great since my printer back then always made what it wanted and not what it should , maybe i start that again since i got a bigger printer now, but still have to split it are there good of the shelf solution for controlling it afterwards nowadays? i remember that there were so many out there

      Yes, even in the past 3 years a lot has advanced and made it easier for you to control, build and even get electronics pre-programed. DO IT!

    Thanks for the video, but I do have a quick question. When brushing on the bondo -acetone mix to eliminate the print lines, does it matter if you brush with the print lines or against them?

    • @coz3d
      @coz3d  4 місяці тому

      It really doesn't matter but I always brush against them if I can.

    What 3D printer do you use to print the dome in one go?

    • @coz3d
      @coz3d  Місяць тому +1

      I use the Comgro T500 but I will warn you it's a difficult machine. When it's dialed in and working it prints beautifully. When it's not, it's a frustrating machine but that happens on large machines. If you get one, do all the pre-prints that dial in the machine and make sure z-hop is turned on or you'll lose your mind.

      @@coz3d Thanks! I was looking at the neptune 4 max that is 420 x 420 x 480. not sure it'll do a full size R2 dome or not.

    Would the Bondo/acetone trick work on ABS since the ascentone melts it?

    • @coz3d
      @coz3d  2 місяці тому

      I have used it before and never had a problem on ABS personally. I'd try it on a test piece before committing to a large item such as the dome. Acetone also melts PLA as well and I've never had a problem.
