@@Alizudo No, they did better. Gen 1 doesn't compare story wise or even ost wise to Gen 5 and it also has a ton of interesting new Pokemon and streamlined standard battles. I remember playing Black/White Version 2 and Hugh was my favourite character. He literally punched an Evil Team Grunt! Repeat! He PUNCHED an Evil Tean Grunt!! In a POKEMON game! Also his whole arc about getting his little sister's Pokemon back was an amazing story
I got W2 years after it came out and I was presently surprised how much I liked Hugh's character. Sure his "give my sister's Pokemon back" shtick got a little tiresome but I actually looked forward to fighting with and against him! Some of the rivals (Berry, X/Y posse, Hau, and Hop) I did not look forward to seeing after the first 3 encounters.
I'm glad he liked Cheron so much. He always gave off that vibe of the studious character that puts what they learn into practice just to improve themselves
When I first saw his design I was getting original Sasuke Uchiha vibes probably because of the color scheme but then I was disappointed that I was wrong lol
As soon as Shauna came up, all I could think of was "Pretty good huh, fucker?" From Snapcube's plathrough. Sidenote: just realized Bianca and Barry's colour palettes are the exact same

he would NOT SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT THAT GODDAMN PURRLOIN!!! EVERY SINGLE ENCOUNTER!!!! The 'trying to be the best' schtick was just a façade over the real annoyance. His theme was bland as well. I feel Wally's problem is that May/Brandon is so iconic that I honestly forgot about him. So when showed up at Victory Road I was like hey who are you? Where is May? Especially in ORAS I feel your character talks to your neighbor so much and they have such cute chemistry; that I feel that the very few scenes you have with Wally just don't stand out as much. Also thanks to the Anime most of the girls get a major personality boost compared to the boys who if they are lucky get a cameo in the "This is the World of Pokemon" montage.
Much as I want to see a ranking of antagonist teams/leaders I don't know if my heart is strong enough to handle the possibility that my boys N and Guzma might not receive glowing accolades.

There's literally no reason to walk around in any of the shit fashion items they wear on a catwalk if you have: Underwear (+socks), shorts, pants, t-shirts (long and short sleeves), shirts, maybe even polos, sweaters, sandals, shoes, jackets depending on the season, all the other outside stuff (scarf, gloves, beanie,...) That's also the reason why the Pokémon anime is, in my opinion, the best anime in terms of character design. It doesn't distract, because it is simple.
If you've read the Adventures manga, you should rank the protagonists from that. They're all given actual personalities and quirks that are all pretty unique and fun

As every character from SwSh is just a copy-paste of a much superior character from Sun & Moon, Marnie is just Lillie with zero backstory. They absolutely knew people will like her for nothing but looks, they even gave her an army of simps so players can say "hehe, I'm also Team Yell because Marnie is cute".
I’d love to see a ranking for the villains and major npcs. Maybe even the professors? Whatever you’d feel like doing. I love following this series. It’s been a lot of fun and has really gotten me back into Pokémon. Thanks for effort and content!
Gold and Ruby in the manga are just absolute chads. Honestly, the manga is so much better than the anime, especially the first three generations of manga.
I can generally accept his views on every one, and now that he mentions, they did kinda just go...blue for a while. But I love Hilbert's design honestly. It is simple but it's a stylish simple look, and it's my own personal bias I guess, but I like kinda looking ordinary in my games instead of an iconic/bombastic look. I feel like there may have been a little more acceptance or at least a C rank if Caleb weren't so similar. Some of the outfit pieces changed but his colour scheme and general appearance feels much the same.
Klara has to be my favorite rival. Girls are way scarier than guys when it comes being mean so Klara being this toxic trainer that wants to ruin your day to make herself look good is refreshing and also really satisfying when you beat her.
I personally don’t have a strong attachment to the player characters in-game, but almost every one of the MC’s get their own fun, unique personalities in the Pokemon Adventures manga (especially Ruby and Sapphire) so I love them all in that regard. edit: WALLY IS MY S TIER SON
So, to those who don’t know Hugh? Hugh is a young man whose starter Pokémon is hatched from an egg he raised, so that alone stands out among the rivals you get. He grows up having hated Team Plasma from the first game (which is 5 years ago in the 2nd game’s time span), as they stole a Pokémon (Purrloin) that his little sister got from their grandfather. The chilling part is that the grandfather isn’t there in the game, so it’s likely to assume that he passed away and left that Purrloin in her care as a departing gift. The entire purpose of Hugh’s journey alongside you is to find his sister’s Pokémon, and the journey takes him as far as the entire region. All to find it being used by one of the Team Plasma leader’s strongest henchmen. When he first saw it, it lashed out and tried to attack him, as it no longer recognized him. So yeah. I think Hugh deserved the A rank.
and then he devotes his life to help trainers in hopes to prevent what happened to her sister alongside the old team plasma in the post game. what a champ
Silver, and Cherin were the best rivals for totally different reasons. Marnie is an awesome mix of the rough punk vibe of Silver and the serious intelligent vibe of Cherin.
I personally like skirts and dresses (But usually longer ones), but I like getting options and getting to have different colours, etc. I'd like it if we could get an older playable character, who's at least 16-17, just for once. I may be 26, but have loved Pokemon since I was a kid, but now as an adult, I'd like to see more older trainers. lol Tired of kid trainers and irresponsible parents letting their children out into the big world and the fact they assume kids are responsible enough to take care of Pokemon is just ludicrous. I feel like the player characters should be a bit older, because it would make more sense. lol
@@ReptilianTeaDrinker No, skirts and dresses are a bad idea in general - why would a trainer going through bushes, rain, snow, etc wear something that impractical? Especially if they need to run away from wild Pokémon and whatnot. It's especially bad with Dawn who wears like a winter coat, hat, scarf, boots but then just inexplicably has bare legs for no reason.

I remember Wes as badass, edgy but cool. Then I went back and looked at him, and he looks kind of stuipid, not going to lie. Unique, but I thought he was cooler when I was a kid :P
While Hilda looks like someone you see and instantly think she's a protagonist or at least a popular recurring side character with something of an arc, Hilbert looks like a guy you'd see walking out of a store to fill the background in a scene where the main character is steeped in their thoughts.
Silver’s my favorite rival for the character arc he goes through, but I love gladion with how he looks like an asshole, but is really nice to Pokémon. Marnie’s also a sweetheart
Pokémon Masters (the gacha game on mobile) is giving a bunch of characters really cool makeovers and designs if you want to take a look at them! Signa Suit Elesa’s rotom dress is great!
I recently played through Alpha Sapphire and the little animation that plays at the beginning of May's rival battles where she adjusts her ribbon is so fucking cute I wasn't prepared for it.
I know people don’t notice this very often so I’ll say this. Lucas was a very laid back character. Very casual. Dawn was no nonsense, controlling, and an absolute stuck up. (You only see these personalities when you play as the opposite gender but their text and demeanor are very different.) Barry was an absolute spaz who was forced to calm the fuck down throughout the game. Actually all have very unique arcs. Dawn is forced to let go of control and trust Lucas, while Lucas is forced to take things more seriously.

It's my favorite, personally. And the blue resonates well with Oshawott evolution line, just like Red and Charizard
@@Alizudo No, they did better. Gen 1 doesn't compare story wise or even ost wise to Gen 5 and it also has a ton of interesting new Pokemon and streamlined standard battles. Gen 1 is much more iconic and a lot more Pokemon in it have higher quality designs than Gen 5 since that Gen wasn't focused entirely on giving incredible designs but we still got some banger Pokemon from it anyway.
Id rate hilbert lower than D tbh. And of all the names you could choose they chose to call walmart red "hilbert"?
@@rockinrootbeer1795 Hugh was the perfect mix of the friendly rival and the competitive rival.

he would NOT SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT THAT GODDAMN PURRLOIN!!! @@trashbag1108 any one of my videos disproves that. Not that they're good (God no, they're awful), but it'd be worse if the clothes in my videos weren't simplistic. It's also the reason why I often dislike anime.

Hugh was very much strong willed. He was going to get his sister’s Purrloin back from Team Plasma and he wasn’t going to be stopped. Not gonna lie he was a challenge, but that was before fairy types (and before I figured out type matchups to the fullest). Imagine Bede but like... actually your friend and not egotistical. He started his journey for a reason, a noble one in my eyes. Sure he didn’t seem to notice Team Plasma’s actual plans mostly but he still had a role in taking them down, just for different reasons.
Sorry for the mini essay.
Giving an S to Marnie but a C to Barry and Hau I have to laugh. I waited the whole game for Marnie to do literally anything and she never did.
Yeah she is so damn bland. Her outfit is probably the blandest of all of them tbh
agreed. people only like her because her design is cute which i do agree on, but other than that she is bland and doesn’t have a character arc compared to hop and bede
He ranked them based on their looks, not on what they did in the games dude. He just thinks her outfit is nice.
As every character from SwSh is just a copy-paste of a much superior character from Sun & Moon, Marnie is just Lillie with zero backstory. They absolutely knew people will like her for nothing but looks, they even gave her an army of simps so players can say "hehe, I'm also Team Yell because Marnie is cute".

edit: WALLY IS MY S TIER SON
Dude, you need to try Black 2/White 2. They’re fantastic games, my personal favorites. The golden age of HGSS extends thru B2W2

I'm glad you can customise your character now because I always hated how the girls got stuck in little miniskirts, minidresses or short-shorts.
While Hilda looks like someone you see and instantly think she's a protagonist or at least a popular recurring side character with something of an arc, Hilbert looks like a guy you'd see walking out of a store to fill the background in a scene where the main character is steeped in their thoughts.

(You only see these personalities when you play as the opposite gender but their text and demeanor are very different.)
Barry was an absolute spaz who was forced to calm the fuck down throughout the game.
Actually all have very unique arcs. Dawn is forced to let go of control and trust Lucas, while Lucas is forced to take things more seriously.
