My Dad was stationed at then RAF Colerne. His job then , if I remember correctly was visiting various sites which he was required to inspect. I remember with great affection his arriving from such trips as what became , as I remember, his almost permanent aircraft. And he then resumed such flights from RAF North Luffenham.
Farmers in Oz bought Ansons for10pounds engines fo a small amount My uncle bought one for the wheels for a Hay trailer. As a little kid I enjoyed playing in the fuselage.
My dad flew Ansons amongst other aircraft. He said that they practically flew themselves so much so that he could leave the pilot`s seat and go down to the door to have a Jimmy Riddle out of it.
I have a photo of my late father’s passing out parade (as a navigator ) with an Anson in the background although it has a screen in the nose cone. That would have been spring of 1945.
I am sure the Anson was also used in South Africa. I knew a man here who flew them in those immediate postwar days on coastal patrol. Probably not used in the Commonwealth training scheme in SA though!
ive actually been in the mk l avro anson in NZ a few times, great little aircraft but gets even hotter than this mk ll because of the rear upper turret
Britain is such an amazing country if you live there you should be proud.

My dad flew them in Canada🤗
They also built Ansons at the Avro Yeadon shadow factory next to todays Leeds/Bradford Airport

Has the wooden main spar been replaced with modern material? The Australian Ansons were grounded because the spars were condemned.
Metal spars replaced the earlier wooden ones. I scrapped the last 'woody' when working for Kemps Aerial Surveys out of Thruxton in the 1960s.

i like the way he says bae is made up of all those old aviation companies!
Bovingdon's mainstay!
An ugly aircraft. The Oxford was far more elegant.
