Pure Beauty in motion, the sound of the Merlins singing,, it is so strange to think that this beauty was born out of horror. but we now have the chance to see them in their natural environment "Flying free" A big Thank You to everyone who made this video possible. Live Long and Prosper.
These are freaking awesome. I love the Mossy. My grandfather, Donald Rose flew them as a pathfinder during the war. Every time I see video of this beauty makes me a little reminiscent of all the stories he told me as a kid. Gone for nearly 30 years now...but I can still hear his voice ans see his smile as he talked about his beloved Mossy. :)
Thank goodness your brave grandad came home or I probably wouldn't have had the pleasure of reading your beautiful memories of him.
Unbelievable! I love the way it was filmed from take off before getting up into the air, it creates an atmosphere of actually being in the cockpit as well. The courage those pilots in WW2 must have had to fly those missions , is beyond any understanding.
1. Wow. What a bevvy of beautiful planes. What a thrill to be amongst them.
2. The Lancaster is so graceful - and SO vulnerable to being shot out the sky. You can understand why the Spitfire pilots were referred to as "the few", whilst the losses for the bomber boys were that much higher than the Somme that they were known as "the many".
3. It makes you grateful that the lads in places like Canada, NZ, Australia, and many other places, actually came over as volunteers from the start. Easy to not fully appreciate that debt we owe those brave lads.
Absolutely
When I was a young boy in the 1950s my American Air Force father (who'd flown B-24s & B-29s in his first of three wars) was stationed on the Island of Bermuda (and, yes, thanks to having to go to British schools while there I'm a Cricket player from way back). The RAF were always flying patrol & training missions to & from Bermuda. I watched many a Lancaster fly in and out. My father went on flights with them several times. He said they were a grand aircraft. Sad there are only a couple left that still fly.
@@joestephan1111 Maybe three flyable Lancasters soon. The one at East Kirkby should be airborne eventually, and is undergoing a complete renovation.
@@RWBHere When I was a young lad my US Air Force father was stationed on the island of Bermuda. The RAF would come there to train. We lived in a house on the airbase which overlooked the main runway--perfect for a plane crazy kid like me. Saw a number of Lancasters come and go (not to mention an early look at Canberras). Because my father was an Air Weather Officer he interacted with all of the pilots when they came in for a briefing. He got to go for a ride in a Lancaster which he said was a good, stout plane. Though he had trained in and flew as a B-24 & B-29 pilot during the war, he during that time once rode as copilot in a B-17 being moved to another airbase. He said after the Lancaster ride he could now see first-hand it, with the B-17, were a 1-2 punch. Please keep us informed of the progress there.
Sorry did you just say, bomber boys losses higher than the Somme? You can’t be referring to the battle of the Somme in WW1 ?!
Losses from bomber command 57,000 roughy killed.. of a total 125,000 aircrew overall. But 57k “bomber boys” specifically
Losses from the battle of the Somme total 420,000
There were over 57,000 killed on the first DAY of the Somme.
Anyway I absolutely respect the bomber boys and all aircrew etc but your statements are just factually way out.
Just want to say a massive thank you for uploading this footage. I think this must have been one of the best things to do with a camera. I love all the aircraft in this video and to see them all flying in formation is a real pleasure. Please keep these coming. Fantastic stuff.
Love this video. My uncle was in the RAF during WW2 as a navigator on the Mosquito. Amazing to see the same view he had.
This video is superb, both for the camerawork and the flying. It's also an immense credit to the legions of restorers, financiers, maintenance staff and families who have lived with the effort to keep thse wonderful aircraft flying.......and a poignant reminder of what we owe the many thousands of young men who died in these war machines, to allow us the lives we live today.
This video is a fine tribute to them.....well done 'Warbirdresto'.
Very nice! I´ve been in the Canadian Lancster this August - it´s not only one of two in airworthy condition but the only one you can fly with.
It wasn´t cheap but worth every Cent to be in the middle of four Merlins for an hour passing the Niagara Falls.
And I did to honour the crew of Lancaster LM643 / 619 Sqn PG-E crashed near St. Nazaire 25.July 1944 - I placed all from the crewmembers I could fnd the families to their position during flight - and the VR-A pilots signed them for the families.
Before I forget - I´m German... ;-)
No shame ! Your fathers fought the Bolsheviks! They truly left it all on the field! May history sort the truth (eventually?)
Superb stuff. What a blessed relief to see propellers shot with a decent camera sensor, so they look like the real thing and not big black paddles flapping about crazily.
ABSOLUTELY ! how bloody annoying that is.
As a serving RAF Engineer this is what dreams are made of!!
Still serving my friend? Awesome if you are and thank you for all your service either way.
@@NorthCamZ Not anymore. I left after 12 years but it's stood me in great stead moving forwards
@@robertlindsay6671 Wow man, that's a long time. Really appreciate your service.
The best video on youtube.
agree
Yes, I too.

Mind-blowing footage, nice tight formation flying...very impressive. thanks for posting
Glad I found this one, great to see the CWH collection in full flight - what a fantastic sight and sound. Thanks from Stephen in London (England not Ontario).
Just an amazing film, it was just brilliant flying along with those beautiful old aircraft.
I had never seen the Canadian Lancaster flying, she is a beauty. and what an achievement to have a mosquito flying, THANK YOU FOR SHOWING
This was the "choir pf the merlins". I was there and it was magical. Ranks up there with Vera (Candadian Lanc) flybye with the CF18 Hornet.
I was lucky enough to see the Canadian Lancaster when it visited Britain a couple of years ago. It was with the Lancaster from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and both flew past my home at about half a mile distance, turned south, then turned south west, and headed off toward the Derwent dam, which is around 30 miles from here and where they practiced for the Dam Busters raid because of its similarity to one of the German dams. An incredible and beautiful sight, and the sound of eight Merlins is something I'll never forget.
Great video. I wish we had a flying Mossie here.
Still, we did get the two Lancasters in at my local airport for a few days.
I can't understand what those dislikes are for!! What is there not to like about this video??!!
Sir you have to understand out there, there be dipshits who have no soul or feeling for anything living or flying, we the intelligent few have to pity them, Live Long and Prosper.
***** Alas it would be easy just to say to your comment but there are people out there in many countries who have no heart and soul for this kind of beauty, Live Long and Prosper Ian.
they are germans XD
Sorin Molnar NO !! Thamks Warren for the camera work !
butt hurt 'Argentinians'
Wow, now that is something you don't see everyday! Brilliant video.
This must be such a cool moment, not only flying one of these but seeing the others around you as well!
Thank you so much for posting this . My grandad was a rear gunner in a lanc during the war & seeing these flying never fails to make me emotional . Thank you 🌹
Fantastic video, thank you, Canada from a Brit.
there's something that's just inspiring about these war birds
OMG...I dont use that silly pneumonic often, but this is...glorious!!
I hope you recovered from the pneumonia. Oh, hang on ... Did you mean mnemonic? :-)
My uncle was a 19 year old mossie jockey. He used to fly the post bombing raid recce flights over Germany. Unarmed and knee trembling height above the ground. He would have loved to see this spectacle.
Firstly thank you kindly for this footage and thank you for not putting some rubbish music over the top of the beautiful merlin ambiance :-)
My one perpetual regret is that we have no flying Mossies in UK.
I once caught my bell end on a zipper. Otherwise I'd be right there with you.
i've been to the Hamilton museum . then an employee walked up to me and asked if i would like to go inside the aircraft . I nearly passed out but said yes , and i got some great keep sake photos .
My four favourite aircraft of WW2. The Mossie holds a special affection for as my Uncle was killed in one during a night navigation exercise in January 1946.
Such grace, such beauty, such power and such men that flew them in combat. And, such wonderful people that help to keep these machines flying. You can keep your engine runs of the Vulcan; this is what people want to see and hear.
flagged as porn !
I wouldn't even give this a thumbs down with a gun to my head.....
But I have to say there is a part of me that is not happy with this video.
That is...
It has just ruined everything else :0
Nice one James. Keep a look out for the DVD next year.
+James Sissons I can't even imagine who would thumb this down. 14 of them I guess. go back to your xbox you idiots
These guys enabled you to say what you have said.....Merlins .....mechanical music!!!!!!!! And I am GLAD I have said what I have said.......
The nine people that disliked must be Germans.
Ah, didn't clap eyes on that lame groaner too long, I guess. Isn't WW II still going on...? But to be honest there are more Brits nagging green with envy about the fine reproduction Mossies not flying in good old England than anybody else. Anyway. Thanks a lot for that unique view of a unique formation flight. CWH can be truly proud of it's operable vintage treasury.
I'm so excited because i'm going to see the Lancasters tomorrow
How was the show? I hope it was impressive enough to still be on your mind after five years.
I am definitely making the trip to Hamilton Ontario Canada to see the airshow again. I happened to be driving by Hamilton a few years ago and saw the Lancaster flying an amazing sight! But in formation with all these planes....wow...just wow.
Anyone else get goose bumps hearing those engines? Imagine what was going through the minds of the pilots and crew back in the war when starting up those engines
Words cannot express my joy. Thank you for sharing this footage.
Absolutely incredible footage .Well done boys .
Whaou !!!...rassembler trois Avro Lancaster, Hurricane, Spitfere, et filmer le vol en formation du cockpit d'un Avro Lancaster est tout bonnement MAGNIFIQUE !!!!👍👍🤩🤩
Just fantastic footage, would love to have been there, alas I will have to just remember the day I got to sit in a Spit. Thanks for sharing.
Desde Argentina: muy bueno el video, muchas gracias..
There is your heritage and freedom right there. Thank you Canada from England
If you look closely after 7 minutes there is a B-25 Mitchell flying with them. Superb video! Thank you very much!
Never seen a Lancaster in flight from so close at that angle. Truly looks like a beast! 😊
Canadian pride!
Awesome video. Thanks. Its probably the closest any of us will get to flying with any of these amazing aircraft. And as was said elsewhere, thanks for not adding a musical soundtrack. V12 Merlins will do me any day!.
possibly 1 of the best formations ever. Too hate any of these plane well u cant be British these plane help to defend us we shall never forget the heroes .
Awesome pure footage without music! I love it! 1000 thanks!
What a set of beauties!
The absolute ultimate quartet in aviation. Such a super project to get this Mossie back in the air. Lets hope we have one flying in the UK as soon as possible - our last two are very sorely missed....!!! Great vid' - many thanks...!
that was the most majectic flight i have ever seen , wow . and the veiwpoint was extra ordinary , thanks for posting .
Just a little bit of fighter protection ;-) Awesome vid, great to see them all flying!
This is truly amazing! What an experience this must have been. Thank you for sharing!
Who in the name of God would vote this down and why?
Amazing stuff!, I was surprised at how much work the Pilot had to put in to fly her, his feet were never ending on the pedals, and hands always doing something!
Would love to hear these fly over the sound of the big gas engines incredible
Absolutely amazing footage and amazing planes..love it,thanks for putting it up..
I do believe this is the day that Joe from the TV series Ice Pilots (Buffalo airways)
was on board the Lanc as a guest, Im pretty sure his son Mike is on the tarmac at the end waiting for him to disembark... great shots of the spits, hurricanes, and of course the Lanc...
I think they were P-51 mustang as the harricains had the air scoop under the engine than that far back on the airplane
Trivia...The Lancs tyres have to be replaced every 15 landings...A museum personnel told me from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
All four legends together - in the air. I salute you. Awesome.
The best sights and sounds I could ever ask for! Thank you
Superb footage of some great iconic aircraft of the era, The Mosquito will always be my favourite warbird.
Jolly good! I say old Chaps. Keep these ladies in top form, only the best fuels and lubricants, as they have a very important place in aviation history.
Missing, Short Stirling.

Would love to see a Hawker Typhoon/Tempest as well. With a Napier Sabre "H" engine.
Coming in on a wing and a prayer,,, Oh! Look below there's our field over there.
There'll be Blue Birds over, the white cliffs of Dover,
tomorrow, when the world is free.
after reading some of the comments by others ,i would like to add this comment!!!!! If all you have is a sharp stick, sharpen it at both ends and hold in the middle!! JOHN KELLYS VEW ON LIFE!!ITS STILL A GREAT VIDEO KUDOS TO THE CANADIAN XXX MUSEUM!!
I am amazed that my dads generation, those boys who flew these aircraft were the same age as those people we call today - our Generation "WHY"...
The names I recall being Checketts, Ladd, Parks, Bader - and of course let us not forget the Polish - Russian - Latvians etc... and Canada US NZ AUST... They were good men....
The present 'Gen Why' sadly have not much of a clue that it was these wooden aircraft, balsa - glue and screw and their able crews that gave them a future.
Bravo to the maintenance crews who keep these old girls flight line ready... God Speed
oh my.... this had to be a great airshow. and nice call on the B-25...I believe its a "J"... shooting from the hip...dorsal turret moved forward.... 8 X.50 gun pack forward; fixed forward firing [fuselage] .50's removed. awesome footage
Delightful. Great planes, legendary. But where were they? I knew that the ony flying Lanc in Great Britain has the "HW" sign on her fuselage.
Ah ok, they're in Canada, I read it now. Obviously, Canada.
So awesome! The mosquito was may fav since I was a kid. Now I WORK at that airport and get to refuel military jets, and the Snow Birds themselves, all while this beauty revs up and taxi's by! So cool up close!
Lucky me! The Lancaster during the summer flies over my house some times but definitely within easy eye sight! The Merlins are sweet sounding! Unlucky me did not know the Mossie was in town for the airshow ( i was in another house much farther away from Hamilton).
Geez! The Mosquito looks tiny by the Lancaster. My bucket list only wish is a ride in the Mosquito which my dad as the navigator flew in WW2. He and the Pilot did recon missions of which he said he can't talk about to anyone..
The wonderful Rolls Royce (and Packard built) Merlin in all it's glory....... Awesome video thank you. 😎
These two birds rained hell on Germany during WW2, the Mosquito's marked the targets and the Lancasters dropped the bombs.
The best 14:30 on UA-cam. All pilots and aircrew must have had the best time.
Even us on the ground crews loved it :D
If I ever won the lottery, I would buy that 'Mossy' and donate it to the BBMF and tell then, now have this in your collection and fly it right behind the Lancaster and have it painted it its war time colours
Lancaster leading the way, a Hurricane to the left, a Spitfire to the right and the Mosquito behind the Lancaster, with the Dakota bringing up the rear
Plane spotters would go mad to see a flight like that (and so would I )
If practical, they should put a tropical (Vokes) filter on that Hurricane IIC to make it look more authentic in its desert camo. Too bad there isn't an airworthy Wellington, Halifax, Beaufort or Beaufighter to add to the group.
Wow! What a great, great video ! Thank you very much from a French RAF fan. Beautiful, evocative and moving. Hats off!
On the taxi what is the punctuated hissing Sound? I heard this on the Just Jane Lancaster during a taxi run. Is it hydraulics operating the breaks or something?
The other bomber with the guns on the front is a B-25 Mitchell
Superb all we need now is the Beaufight that is being restored at Duxford to join them and you will have one hell of a multi engine collection unique in the world
Well done Canada sorry for your loss after all that work New Zealand on the Mossie
Remember seeing these as a child growing up. Lincolnshire, England. 'Look mummy, theirs and aeroplane up in the sky'
You are lucky-it was a bad day in Manchester in 1996 when ours fell out of the sky, I had only seen it 2 weeks before at North Weald where it did the best display I have ever seen!!
Had to turn the volume down halfway through and play "Vera" by pink floyd while watching....superb.
What's the altitude and airspeed for the flyby? Trying to visualize what it would have been like on the ground when these attackers came on low level.
To the 21 individuals who disliked this video, take your negative and unnecessary crap back to the hole that you clearly come from!
I wish the Canadian Government would Fund the Restoration of these planes , instead of Funding Terrorism !
Wow wo-men, what a fantastic formation. Thanks for filming and sharing. Greets form Germany. :)
All these aircraft were built by women. They did a brilliant job and helped save the world. M.
Rover Coupe U WOT, those aircraft were built by women 😏😏😏
at 3: 35.. totally awsome under the lancaster.. flying:P very nice!!..
If he opened the throttle, the other planes would be a speck on the horizon behind him - Mossies could out-run Spits!
When the hell are the British going to stop about ww2 and build something new for once for crying out loud?
My Grandad flew mosquitos in WW2... He then went on training guys how to fly them.
J'aurai donné beaucoup pour avoir une petite place dans l'une de ces merveilles. Une toute petite place dans une des tourelles par exemple. J'aurai même servi le thé à l'équipage si nécessaire.😁
We live not for from Mount Hope and the CWH museum so we get to see some of these birds fly over our house on occasion. Always a treat. The Firefly and the B25 are fairly regular visitors, the Lanc once in a while. We also see Tiger Moths, Harvards, Fleets, and other trainers on the wing. A nice pace to live for an airplane buff.
Very nice video. Anyone knows why the engine on that Lancaster smokes in the end? Overheat or running very rich or something?
I was at this airshow and the display was freakin' awesome! Many people had tears in their eyes and grins a mile wide.
Great video. Bummer to those who thumbs downed it. Why the hell you ever give this thumbs down?
B-25 Mitchell just photo bombed (or should I say video bombed)
OK, be honest, who amongst you didn't hum at least a few bars of the "Battle of Britain" movie theme music as all those Merlins flew by?
This vid just sums it up.... those old Brit war-birds... beauty in motion !
Wow would loved to have being sat in your seat to have filmed this
Ya, but think I would want to be in the tail of the Lanc here.... I would probably mess my pants with excitement :)
Exhilarating and moving. Where's that replay button?
My late father, a Sergeant in the 1st Battalion, The Black Watch, blagged a flight in a Mosquito in 1946 in Gemany. The pilot threw the plane between the twin spires of Cologne Cathedral!
+Stewart Nicol as BILLY CONNOLLY That is fantastic!
+Stewart Nicol as BILLY CONNOLLY sweet
Wonderful footage. I think all my birthdays have come at once.
