just got my spiral weave basket templates and I can't wait to use them. Some people are complaining about the thickness of the templates but, mine are the same thickness as the plastic cutting boards you get at the dollar store, the 3 in a pack ones. I use that same plastic for my hand made templates. The templates were not folded and came packaged each in its own plastic bag backed with card stock, all inside a mailer. The complaints from other customers did some good, the seller fixed those problems. I am a happy camper with my purchase. I got mine from Amazon, the 3 size package. 8" 12" and 15".
Update: I made the small 8" basket, took a little adjusting but, I got it made. Very nice little catch all on my desk. Next, I wanted to try the 15" one but, with a twist. I wanted to make a bucket bag out of the basket. I extended each of the 12 arms 3" longer and made a new template on craft paper, to make the basket deeper. Added matching fabric at the top edge with a sewn in channel for drawstrings, also a shoulder strap. Presto Changeo, I have a new bucket bag. Now, I am left with one problem, what to do with all those triangles from cutting out the pattern, from any of the baskets! Because of the thickness they won't work as a quilt. Maybe coasters or something. We'll see.
TY for sharing. I've made this and as with ALL sewing projects, a lot of prep work but what a fun piece when finished. NOT your easy peasy project, but worthy of a gift.
Great video. I like how you demonstrate the stiching at the top. Sometimes when a video just says how to finish, but does not actually show you how. These are quite lovely and I may just try these!
Hi How & where can I get the pattern & full instructions to make these bowls please? I have ordered the templates and Bosal , now I need the pattern. I'm in England. Thanks for any help.
Watched allot of your tutorials and are super but at times you mention about a pattern(s) and would love to buy some. Can you tell me where I can find your channel to do so.
I found the actual pattern, it has a paper template. It is written by a company called Aunties Two most local quilt shops should carry the pattern. I found it at a store called Sewn Together in Norco, Ca
@@helenmason9317 there is actually a pattern and you don’t need acrylic templates like what I’ve seen advertised, I just bought the pattern at my local quilt store. The pattern is called Woven Spirals, and it’s by Auntie Two. I paid $9 for the pattern, then you need some double sided fusible peltex, I paid $3.99 a yard, then whatever fabric you use. It says you need a yard of the peltex. I haven’t made them yet but I plan on it. Some friends of mine made them and really liked them.
So the edges are rough cut and you zigzag to finish them? I didnt receive any instructions with my set and have been confused on template. Been sewing for 60 years and want to make these for zmas. Thank you
Search for Christine’s Home Affairs channel. She does a tutorial in detail that you can follow with your pattern. She also show you how to draft a pattern as well. I hope it helps.
Just be aware that this is a paper pattern and the actual pattern is printed on the back of the pattern instructions; which means you can't cut it out. My only option is to purchase freezer paper and trace it, which doesn't appeal to me. I much prefer PDF patterns for this reason.
I have this pattern & I am not that pleased with it. It is the plastic pieces-easy to trace & cut out. The problem I’m having is putting it together. The sizes of my templates are 12”, 8” & 6”. The 12” one is hard to keep together & the 8” is enough to really test my patience. (I’m not even going to attempt the 6”!!) Wasn’t there supposed to be a 15” in the set? I’m disappointed because the bowl in the video has to be 15” by the way it goes together. I guess I just want to know if I ordered the wrong size or if there is another reason why there isn’t a 15” size bowl pattern. Thank you, Karen
I received my template, there were no instructions. When I brought the template package I was told that it would include instructions. How can I get a copy of the instructions?
I just opened my patterns and had a poorly written directions but NO pattern. No size for squares. No size for fabric. Very disappointed for the $ I spent for the templates. Would like to know where to download the pattern.
Thank God for UA-cam. Cuz I would be sitting here saying. NOW What? Poorly advertised. Thank you for the UA-cam. I think i am smart enough to figure out. But. Am very disappointed.
I have tried several times to cover up the fusible interfacing, but I cannot figure out how to hide the edges after I have sewn it. It is still white. How do I fix this? the instructions do not say. can you please explain this, your video does not show this.
Get double sided fusible fro Amazon. It does not have to be the expensive kind that she uses. Cut both your fabric and your interfacing into a square large enough to fit template. Peel off one side of the interfacing and iron your fabric onto it. Turn it over and do the same with the other fabric. Repeat step for the other 2 pieces of fabric. Then trace your template on each of the 2 squares. Then cut it out. Sew around each one with a tight zigzag/applique stitch .
Very difficult! I'm struggling with sewing the top and buttons on. I bought a hemostat to hold my needle to punch through all the layers, but still hard.
@@melissadarneille3487 It IS quite difficult! You have to work and work and work just to get the top somewhat even. It is VERY time consuming to satin stitch all of those "arms", and then sew on 12 buttons! I've made a couple of these, I don't care to waste any more time on another one. And as you can see, James Chapman has not responded to ANY of the comments or questions......
I don't think Wingspan carries it any more. Try this one: quiltingbookspatternsandnotions.com/collections/aunties-two-quilt-patterns/products/woven-spirals
Does anyone have suggestions on finishing the edges if you have no sewing machine. I’d like to purchase some templates for a senior citizen’s class but we don’t have sewing machines.
I have a question about the interfacing. What weight are you using. You said heavy but the stuff I find that says heavy is about like felt, is that right??
Received my pattern, was very disappointed because the template is just paper with no directions. The website said the pattern was included and the template was acrylic which it is not. Will not order from them again.
It looks like an interesting basket. Excellent camera work.... if your goal was to give me a really good view of her left hand. You should have had the camera over her left shoulder. What a disappointment. I was thinking about buying the kit but what's the point if your video only shows her hand doesn't show how to really do it when things get a little more complicated.

Thanks 👌

sandwich Peltex 72F, double sided fusible. Put the template on top, hold it in place and use a rotary cutter to cut it out.
