That is a real nice Jade forest. Nice trunk on the big one.
Oh dear, five weeks is definitely too long in the mail! Hope the survivors bounce back!
The arborescens is often called Silver Dollar Jade, my plant is one I named Johnny Silverpenny because I'm quirky like that lol
Also I apologise for my handwriting, cursive has never been my strong point! Good work on the crown of thorns, might consider getting one myself!

Really a nice old Crown of Thorns. Unique in every respect. New should really turn out nice for you.
Succulent Sunday definitely doesn’t succ. So many interesting new things! 🐦💙
I just went back through the crown of thorns playlist. I’m inspired, I’m going for it at the next opportunity. Thanks brother!
The way you say Massachusetts got me chuckling. Lol we call the people Massholes.
Succulent Sunday’s are my favorite day of the week! Thank you so much for all your videos Nigel, you are amazing.
I love that crown of thorns plant thanks Nigel
Thanks for the video. Liked it very much
I've been eyeing the crown of thorns.... They come in a few colours. I need to get my current trees under control, the pomegranates are still overwhelming. I have the same cactus. a friend gave it to me, it's as old as I am. It's still in original container that she grew it from seed in. Root bound it grows miniature. I didn't realize how big it gets until my last cat knocked it over and broke it. The broken pieces rooted and grew humongous compared to the original plant!
Have a nice day
Thought it would be a great a nice little novelty pot for you.
Big cuts on the Jade! I love it!
Thanks. Nice pruning ans good looking lovely gifts!
Lots of fun stuff today on the show.
Thanks for another great video!
Great video Nigel. I’m looking forward to seeing an update on the Desert Rose forest.
I think this is my favorite of your Jade Bonsai, just the leaf size looks more proportional and the trunk has more traditionaly interesting characteristics, the nice curve, the branch positioning is great for a Jade as well. Best of luck with your succulent bonsai, and thanks for sharing all your non traditional bonsai adventures, it's great inspo for us young people and the ones that can't grow temperate 'traditional' species 🙃
Your succulent greenhouse is full!
I really love the flower colour on this new CoT.
Great video nigel! Thanks!
A lot of nice cuttings.
Nice to watch succulent Sunday on a relaxing Monday. I think i am going to prune some a jade today. Thanks Nigel for the inspiration.
So appreciative of your intense videos on this gorgeous plant, The Crown of Thorns. I just finished your original crown of thrown video and saw this newer one with a hybridized variety which resembles my Euphorbia milii 'Bliss' purchased in a 2.5" pot in June 2020. It spent two summers on a hot cement patio in the northern panhandle of WV, winters inside facing a southeast window. It's now a blooming beast at almost 3 feet tall, but with only 3 very horizontal branches. *Gasp* Surprisingly, it looks very full. I'm going to enjoy the flowering until after Christmas 2022 then attempt the task of shaping and trimming. Wondering how much bigger will it grow? Your video will provide the courage and where to begin. I'll be tuning in to see how this new variety of yours progresses, too. Thanks so much.
I always thought succulents weren’t for me, but you have indeed quite a few very interesting specimens! And today’s pots: gorgeous (including the styrofoam one)! Thanks for the video! Looking forward for more!
Love that crown of thorns too but the garden snails like them to eat.
Hello Nigel ,it ‘s perfect time to see this video today.I just got a crown of thorns the same size as your . I will try it out whenever I get my bonsai soil this weekend. Thank you .
I ❤ your soil pourer! 😍
The cactus in the cactus bowl that has round 'pads' is a Tephrocactus and can actually be quite expensive online, you're very lucky to have gotten that in your collection. The grafted cactus is most likely a variegated Gymnocalycium (probably G. mihanovichii), and the flowering one is most probably a Mammillaria.
The grafted cactus is indeed G. Mihanovichii. It is the variety Hibotan, which can be yellow, orange, or red. It needs to be grafted because it has no chlorophyll and cannot perform photosynthesis by itself. The variegated variety has patches of green and can survive on its own roots. Hibotan needs to be kept in a winter temperature above 50 degrees Fahrenheit, because the plant it is grafted on is tropical and cannot take very cold weather.
@@emmitstewart1921 Yes, the rootstock is just the ordinary dragonfruit and doesn't tolerate cold that well, however, Nigel seems to be very experienced in overwintering his plants and I think this planting will do well.
Nice addition of the new crown of thorns - like the color of the flowers. And, yes, they do make a wonderful succulent bonsai. Great work on that jade plant. Hope the succulent cuttings grow for you. Good use of the styrofoam shipping container for rooting . So kind of Tom to have sent you the elephant watering can.
Depends what the plug is made from. Some are made from ground rubber.
always a problem when i'm working and watching you because i want to pause the video and rush out and pot out one of my crown of thorns lol
Awesome video Nigel. Would love to find a crown of thorns. I’m
On the hunt. Any advice? Cheers 🍻
Another useful use for the famous root rake, holes in polystyrene pots. What a fantastic tool you have there - so versatile !! 😀😀. Have you thought of using it for opening seed packets that arrive in the mail. Answers on a postcard for '101 uses of the rootrake' ! 😀😀
Thanks 👍
That’s Mr. Elephant
Can you add the scientific name of the plants in your description? Trying to find myself one of that type of jade. Thanks
It's been a while since your last update of the community gardens and vegetable zone
👍
Hi Nigel, might the succulent’s ‘bleeding’ be caused by your watering it prior to pruning?! God bless you 🙏✝️ ✌️🇺🇦🌻✌️
oh the pale one is generally called Ripple Jade. I call it Pringles' Jade. lol
These small (soft) leaf succulents are more difficult than the big/thicker leaf ones, if you see very small insects/milbs you have to react quickly. It works fine for some years but in my experience not forever... I almost lost mine an gave it up because I do not wanted to use poison... Soap water did not help to break the cycle of eggs and insects
Just stumbled onto Succulent Sunday. Love it! I have a couple of big questions about my huge Crown of Thorns. Might you have an email I can send a picture of it to you for advice on how to prune it? It's about 4 feet tall and bushy. Thanks. Brad
That was a great decision on the big cut and has helped me decide what to do with mine...so this could be your fault as well if it doesn't go well :)
There were some serious cuts, but that jade looks wonderful now. Btw, how did your pots came out? I looked for glazing / burning video, but i couldn't find it.
Isn't that soil just rocks?
I still don't get how that is working :O
What variety of jade is that?! I need one!
really would like to know what kind of jade that is (the tree). it's nothing i recognize
I would love to see what you can do with the "silver dollar" or "silver penny" here in denmark ovata is the "jade" and silver dollar is the "woody jade", it heals faster and better then the normal jade and can handle a few c° lower then the normal jade.
Just to be clear normal jade is crassula ovata and silver jade is crassula arborescens
Johnny Silverpenny is what I christened the individual plant itself, based on the common name Silver Dollar Jade lol I was in a quirky mood when I named the plant. Johnny has been severely hard pruned this year so he looks different from the picture nigel showed of me with the plant last year when I first sent him plants. I look forward to seeing what he does with all of them!
- Ashley Bonner
Could I ask what type of jade was thar please?
Try a hot ice pick. Will go through styrofoam easy & no mess.
🙏✌️✌️👊👊👊💯💯💯❤️🌍❤️😎😎😎
That is not a jade (crassula). it's a sedum praealtum or dendroidum :)
Judging by your new watering can, Tom must've scored it a trunk sale...🙄
Lol, good one Michael!!
Not Foist...
Foist
Too quick Scott
