Got mine today (GTI logo). I took the light cover off and never realized there isn't a light in there! I guess I'll have to wire it up like you did. maybe do a sound damping sheet in there while I'm at it.
Wish I saw this video before ordering them! How do they claim plug & play, when you have to take door panel off and de-pin/pin wires. I hope their license plate bulbs aren’t a hastle
lol the description on the website says "2 minute simple plug & play installation, may require an interior trim tool." seemed a bit more involved than that unless you can just pop the existing light off and splice it in

Just bought off Ali express puddle lights for mk7 that I just bought..not realizing they're weren't already wired (csr was being detailed at the dealership) I went ahead ordered without the wiring....light came and they have a slot for a 2 pin connector no wires...can annoying help me

I did order them not knowing this. My old 2001 had the wires in the doors for them, but not a 16 year newer car?. Thats stupid
Have the GTI logo on mine for a few years now. Thought is was a bit more subtle than a bright VW one.

A lot of guides show you can pin in the positive wire to the #16 pin but I had a wire there that I spliced into. Then ground goes to brown at #4.

I have these on my Touareg TDI and Passat. All of them melted the inside lenses that project the VW logo. Very disappointing.
