If it pops, it's probably gone bad. If yoghurt tastes funky, it means it's definitely bad.
It's fermented, that's why it popped. If you're familiar with fermenting your own food/drinks such as kombucha, this is what happens. However, what I don't get is fermenting yogurt as when you culture it, it is sorta fermenting (the longer you let it do it's thing, the more tart it'll become).

@@mmmtastyalidzie2435 Yes, it is fermented (cultured) but it's different than other fermented foods like kombucha, keffir, kimchi...which all will fizz/pop if you let it ferment enough. I usually let my yogurt sit for 12+ hours to get thick and tart yogurt...I'm just unsure about the whole popping/fizzing part as I wonder how they achieved that. Maybe I just need to leave my yogurt to ferment for 3 days and see. LOL!

Very fun fact you can do your yogurt at home VERY EASİLY. You just need milk and a bit of yogurt. My mom does all the time. İn Turkey yogurt is used so often and many do at home. İt is much more heatier since it doesn't include preservatives. And you can be sure of the quality of the milk as well. Highly recommend to do at home
No yogurt has preservatives... that's why, when you leave it outside, it will become more sour.

Yoghurt is not supposed to taste like mousse, and it’s supposed to be “fermented”.
There is a type of yoghurt that is moussy, its called strained yoghurt and they litreally strain it so most of the water is no longer there
@@livininmydreamworld yes and I have made strained yoghurt or what we call hung curd, but even that has a tangy taste because it is essentially fermented first.

"OOOHHH, it exploded." It has to have what's know as a "hermetic" or airtight seal. The reason is that it identifies bacterial growth. Probiotic enzymes do not produce gas. That's how the yogurt sits on the shelf at the store for a week or more before you buy it without "exploding." If the top pops off the container it's bacterial overgrowth/unsafe, if you hear the hermetic/airtight seal break as you untwist the lid against the threads, it's safe. That's why you can't walk down the salsa isle at Walmart and drop a sick beat on the tops of the salsa jars. The hermetic seal, that "pop up button" on the lid being depressed, is proof that the contents haven't had a growth of gas producing bacteria. That's what you're currently eating. The extra plastic seal WAS holding the lid on, past tense, the pasteurization seal from the factor should have been doing that when you got your mitts on it. RIP

These are both dairy free probiotic coconut yogurt (vegan). From my search Whole Foods retails these in Manhattan N.Y. at about $10 each per 8oz (September 2023) Is the $40 mousse a larger size? (Much much larger ;))
