I Saved The Best Southern Dessert For Last Of 2023 For New Years Eve/OLD SCHOOL BANANA 🍌 PUDDING

- OLD SCHOOL BANANA PUDDING
Very easy and simple and delicious
Who doesn't like banana pudding
1 quart whole milk
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoons vanilla or banana extract
2 oz butter
6 whole eggs
3 tablespoons cornstarch
Combine sugar and cornstarch together in a bowl and add to milk and butter in boiler
Heat until comes to a boil and slightly thickens
Add 1 cup of hot liquid to eggs and mix
Then add too boiler and bring back to a boil and cook until thickened
Add flavor
Remove from heat and slightly cool
Then form your banana pudding
Alternating cookies , pudding and banana
With cookies last on top
I use dream whip or whipped cream sometimes also with the cookies,bananas and vanilla pudding

My mother would blend one can of condensed milk and one tub of whipped cream into the pudding and let me tell you it took it to the next level. Anytime she made it, it was wiped out by the end of the day. Thank you chef Jeffrey
That is what I know. condensed milk turns it out nicely. Simetimes I mix condensed milk with cream cheese and it it to the pudding mixture. Delicious.🎉

Love, love, love banana pudding. I go the easy route, with vanilla pudding mix in the box. Definitely use the Nilla wafers, no store brand will do. God bless. 😊

Seems like a good dessert to make for Super Bowl. Looking forward to making it. I've made banana pudding but did not make the custard from scratch. I also take the time to separate the whole cookies from crumbs and broken ones and reserve the best cookies for the top of the dessert before layering. It will look very attractive. As for the browning of the bananas it will happen. No chef or scientist, that I know of, has figured out how to keep bananas from oxidizing. Adding lemon juice to reduce browning is temporary. If you want to reduce browning, consider making a smaller pudding. This recipe can be divided easily in half or thirds.

I recently made banana pudding this way, instead of using the instant vanilla pudding. And this way is so much better, takes more time and effort but it's definitely worth it! 😋👌🍌🍌

I don't/won't use any other vanilla wafers other than Nabisco Nilla Wafers. If you use those off brands, don't give me any. You're absolutely right...the taste of Nilla Wafers are like night and day
