I'm in the middle of designing my "dressing room". Its also a spare room and I don't want to install anything permanent either. I loved seeing into people's closets. It always makes me wonder what their life is like.
I’m the same way! It was fun doing the research for this project as I looked at soooooo many closets to get ideas. I hope your dressing room project goes well. It’s such a fun thing to do. 😊
WOW... your closet turned out GREAT. I also use a spare room as my main closet and it also cost under $1,000. Although the IKEA PAX system is aesthetically pleasing, it just isn't practical for my needs considering I have a massive wardrobe. I use bookcases for my shoes and handbags and heavy-duty chrome garment racks for my clothes all purchased from Walmart. I use a dresser chest for for undergarments, lounge wear/work out clothes, and pajamas. So indeed once the racks and bookcases are removed, it's a bedroom again...I agree with not converting a room into a closet versus using a room as a closet. But indeed, overall it's a dream come true. ENJOY your new closet 😄.
Thank you! I’m really enjoy it. It sounds like you did things very similar with keeping things so they can be removed if needed and it can still be a bedroom. Creativity is definitely needed and I love the idea of bookcases. If I had a touch more square footage I would’ve done that too! Thanks so much for sharing and for watching. Have a wonderful day!🤗
What a spectacular transformation of a spare bedroom and based on the amount of clothes, shoes and purses you own it was a much needed transformation. I love how you have everything organized as well as decorated. It's a very calming and peaceful space you've created for yourself. Thumbs up Jessica and thank God you have a wonderful husband who understands your clothing obsession. I too have a lot of clothes and my husband is so tolerant of my clothing obsessions. So anxious to see more styling of your fabulous wardrobe. God Bless.
Thank you Sandi! I’m glad your husband is gracious about it for you as well. I have a few small touches (like some lighting inside the dark closet and maybe a decorative light fixture) but those will have to wait. I do love how it turned out. It can get tricky trying to figure out a place for everything so this has been such a nice solution. Enjoy your week! Thanks for watching lovely lady!
Lol... let's give a round of applause to our husbands for their patience, tolerance, understanding, and helping hands. When we were preparing to go house hunting for our current home, I explained to my husband that considering we don't want to move again after buying our house, we should get a house that has enough space for me to use a room for my closet. He thought I was exaggerating and trying to be unnecessarily extravagant. Now, HE UNDERSTANDS and can see EXACTLY what I was trying to convey, lol. He did the painting in the room and put the bookcases and the garment racks together. He also built out a small storage section in the basement into a little additional closet for me 😄😁. I truly appreciate him for doing all of that for me so that I can finally have the closet I truly DO need and dreamed of since before we got married 22 years ago, when it was a trend amongst celebrities to convert a room or a couple of rooms into closets in their newly purchased mansions. Well...a dream come true indeed and I LOVE IT. YES... A TOAST TO THE HUSBANDS 😄😁☺️.
We downsized and it’s taken two years for me to finally like my personal dressing space….. your video inspired me! I used Vipek and repurposed from what I already had. Still waiting on some bins, but the small bedroom is now a lovely dressing room/office. I used the built in closet for SHOES, bags and well, shoes…. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INSPIRATION.
I’m so glad it was helpful! Downsizing can be hard, especially when you have a fairly large wardrobe. I love variety and I’m with you about shoes and more shoes! They always fit so they are a favorite. The vipek system is still stable and holding up great for me. I hope you enjoy them. Happy outfit creating in your new space!🤗
I love your space ❤. Used one of those clothing systems as well. My spare bedroom is also my office. The pool noodles weren't working so good for the boots. I got those table mats from the dollar tree, the stiff kind. Cut them in half for the shorter boots. Just roll them up and insert. They work so good. Keeping the shape of the boots.
Ackkk, this is awesome! I’m SO excited, I just ordered some racks from IKEA and some space saving organizers from Amazon. Converting my daughter’s old room into my own walk in closet and can’t wait to feel organized!!
Yay!!!👏👏👏 Knowing how much I’ve loved this transformation I’m SOOOOOO excited for you! I hope it turns out the way you envisioned and that you enjoy it. Having the space makes you feel much more organized. Happy for you!
Wow, you have an amazing closet!! And you definitely have plenty of clothes to fit in it. I dont have nearly as much clothes and accessories but I dont need as much since Im retired. So I enjoy watching your videos and how you style your outfits🤗
Thank you! I love options but I’m diving into fast fashion and I’m learning a lot. I am always looking to elevate my style and while I want to feel current I am more cautious of trendy pieces. Playing around with the clothes in my closet is one of my favorite things to do! Thank you for sharing and for watching.😊
Jessica!!! My goodness! What a truly wonderful job you have done. It's a great inspiration and I wonder if this couldn't be another string to your bow. I'm sure there are many people, females and males, who have the space but need help in setting up their walk in robe. Well done you, it looks amazing!!!! ❤
Thank you! I had so much fun putting it together and would love helping others to do it. That would be amazing! Happy to hear from you and I’m glad you liked how it turned out. I’ve been having a blast in there since finishing it! I love things organized. It’s so much easier now! Have a fabulous week!😊
@@LlbB-x2v that’s so exciting!! I’m happy for you. It will be a fun project for you, can’t wait for you to enjoy it. Having the extra space is so nice. I’m glad you liked the video. I’ve made some changes & tweaks. I’m hoping to make a closer update soon.🤗
I was planning on turning my spare room into a closet with the closet systems from Amazon but i was skeptical of their quality...your video has confirmed my decision to go ahead with it!!! So glad i came across your video.
I’m so glad it was helpful! I was skeptical myself because I know how heavy clothing is and I’ve had many experiences where my racks have collapsed. This one is definitely worth it and I love the variety! Thx for sharing and for watching.😊
What a great walkthrough! First time watching your videos. I've been struggling with how to approach my own spare bedroom to closet transformation, and you have eased my anxiety. Thank you, thank you!

@@End_of_Time2027 it’s a work in progress, that’s for sure. I also removed the desk since this video. It wasn’t working the way I thought and I love having the bit of extra space without it. More room to get around in.

Hello and thanks for watching Susan! I just measured and it’s 11’ x 11’ 4”. (Measured in feet.) it’s not quite square but almost and then this doesn’t include the actual closet inside. Yay and welcome!! I’m so glad you’re here. 😊 This project was so fun! It challenged me to stay on a budget and get creative to repurpose things so I didn’t have to spend so much. I think I bought that changing table at a yard sale for $25. (That was years ago but an idea of where to look). Thanks so much for watching and for commenting. Have a wonderful week ahead.🤗
This is exactly what I want to do to my spare room. My carpet is like a sea-foam green and the walls are a paler shade of green seaglass so I know that the white racks will be perfect to give my room a coastal vibe. I've been looking at that same line of garment racks for my soon-to-be-closet. They look amazing! 😍 You did an awesome job with your planning and implementation. I'm curious - what are the dimensions of your room? How did you plan what rack was going where and how did you determine exactly what racks you needed? These are the things I'm struggling with now. Congratulations on your room transformation!💐
Thank you. 🤔Ooohhhh the seafoam green will look lovely against the white racks! I’m excited for you. My room is 11 feet x 11 feet 4 inches. You will want to decide if you need corner racks or just straight up against the wall without an angle. Each rack has measurements (you have to zoom in on the photos on Amazon for dimensions). Add up from there if you have enough room. There was a rack I wanted but it didn’t fit and allow the door to close with my measurements. I triple checked my math when I placed the order. It also helps to draw a draft of your room on paper with measurements. That helped me add everything up to pick the systems that would fit. Hope this helps. Happy planning!
