Dwight Lyman Moody (February 5, 1837 - December 22, 1899), also known as D. L. Moody, was an American evangelist and publisher connected with Keswickianism, who founded the Moody Church, Northfield School and Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts (now Northfield Mount Hermon School), the Moody Bible Institute and Moody Publishers. One of his most famous quotes was “Faith makes all things possible... Love makes all things easy.“ Moody gave up his lucrative boot and shoe business to devote his life to revivalism, working first in the Civil War with Union troops through the YMCA in the United States Christian Commission. In Chicago, he built one of the major evangelical centers in the nation, which is still active. Working with singer Ira Sankey, he toured the country and the British Isles, drawing large crowds with a dynamic speaking style.
I found an Edward Kimball who was a biographer of an LDS president but have not found a connection to that mormon Edward Kimball and the one in the moody story. Are you a Mormon sir?
@@prayunceasingly2029 I'll have to look into it, thanks. One of my favorite churches is a "mormon" church. I was baptized there. I believe many religions and philosophies have pieces of the truth
@@usgamechamp1091 I was born in a tight knit Christian sect, later was a new ager and went to pagan ceremonies with native aboriginals here in Canada. I now hold to the historical trinitarian faith as universally true above all others. However I agree that other beliefs hold fragments of truth, while proclaiming Christ as that full truth others not in him only grasp at. For in him dwells the fullness of the Godhead. In him, man can return to dwell with God, with the Son as the only way to the Father. It's a miracle that too often can seem like a stale piece of information but it is in my belief, the most real thing.
@@usgamechamp1091 I think the law of non contradiction is true. Two opposing ideas cannot simultaneously be true. If hindus, pagans and Buddhists believe that life is a cycle of karma while the scriptures say that it for man to die once then comes the final judgment, they cannot both be true. If Joseph Smith said there are many Gods on different planets while the bible says God is one, who rules over all creation, and there is none like Him, then only one of those truths can be true, and the other must be false. People today saying truth is subjective and individualistic are (i believe) mistaken.
Well, what happened to him, as far as an experience, was obviously the Holy Spirit, which everyone does indeed need, even if it didn't include tongues; (being under the control of the Holy Spirit) and🕊 greatly desirable.
I love to learn with D
L Moody. Thank you brother Moody for the wonderful years that you gave to God and Country. Hope to meet you soon 🙏
May God bless you for this teaching...so grateful that God saved a sinner like me!
God will use the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. He gets the Glory
Thanks for this teaching on Moody
