2:40: The reason the Elemental talents that reduced casting time for Bolt and Chain were put near the end is probably because Blizzard did not want Ench or Resto to benefit from it. Otherwise, Ench rotation may in at least some cases involve spell casts, and Resto Shamans may have too many DPS options available to them. Blizz probably did not want this.
Enh main here. Some info for people who are going for full enh: 1) DO NOT rely on kiting with 2h+EB totem. This method is rarely working, to say the least. Moreover, after Barrens you will encounter packs of mobs, which are very close to each other and you won't have enough space to do it (again, regardless of the fact, that this method is useless by itself); 2) Your 3 main rules for choosing weapons AND spells for pretty much non stop killing mobs via leveling: - fast 1h (but better with good dmg) +shield + WF (switch to RB if you are tanking in dungeons. And yeah, you can tank anything till Maraudon. Same applies to the mid speed 1h) - mid speed 1h + shield + RB (wf is much less consistant with slow speed) - 2h + WF for DPSing in dungeons; GEAR: forget about spirit (also about swapping it). It's just ineffective. Your stats prio are str-stam/agi-int-spirit. 3) be manaeffective and don't use Lighting Shield mindlessly on CD. Your way-to-go rotation for 1 mob the same lvl as you: 50% Autoattacks + 1LS + 1 searing totem + 1 mana totem + lvl 1 earthshock for interrupts (if needed). Heal your self with downranked lesser heal (don't spam it to full hp, it's mp inefficient). With the rare use of mp pots you will sit almost never. 3) Get 5 talents in shield block ASAP. If you look at another choice, where you spend 5 precious points on + 5% max mp...just 1th grade math and you will realize that its not enough for even casting 1 spell of a proper lvl. Shield, on the other hand, with stacked str will mitigate SO MUCH DAMAGE, believe me. Instead of going from full HP to half with killing 1 mob, you will go to 1/3 or even 1/4. 4) Think with your head. Test things that you read about. I spent 30 gold just to test other guides. If you have any questions about Enh shamy - feel free to contact me via Battletag Skjal. Cheers)
Lightning shiels is basically the most manageable efficient dmg spell you have so yeah, you want that up a the time Except for that I think everything else is pretty spot on
@@mariateresa1415 you misunderstood my point. Why do you think LS is the most manaEFFECTIVE spell of enh? Because with a wise mana management you almost never run out of mana while doing consistant dps. And for 1 mob (survivability + mana saving wise) 1LS+MP totem+ searing totem is just far more superior then double LS/per mob. My words come from a long personal experience)
@@КириллЛинкер-о5ф it's simple math, it's dividing the average damage done by the spell by the mana cost, if you do that you will see that lighting shield does more damage per mana point than any shock
@@mariateresa1415 I didn't say anything about using shocks for dmg (only 1st lvl ES for interrupts) :). And it costs pretty much no mana. And I did math, my method worked for me)
I absolutely loved duel wield enhancement in tbc. Played rogue in vanilla and quit then came back tbc on horde. Dont even know why i rolled shaman, perhaps because i had came from alliance.. Sucked i ended as resto for arena so i basically shelved it and finished leveling and gearing my warrior.
Thanks for another interesting class overview. Imo "playing to your classes strengths" is the best overview series about classic, and there are a lot of them. As you mantioned, you should cover last hybrid in next video of this series. That would be awesome! I would like to hear about dozens of paladins builds. Like you can trully by hybrid with paladin, doing muliple roles at once.
Another solid and well thought out and insightful video.. You should choose the next one and alternate between fan favorites and what you'd like to do next
Good guide and overview. Enhancement Shaman is my fav spec/class in the game. I just love the playstyle.... even tho it doesn't really get good improvements or development until later xpacs like bc/wrat/cata. Shaman is technically a "offensive support" class and was the opposite of alliance "defensive support" paladins. If it were a duel between shaman vs pally, I think shaman wins cause of purge shocks totems. Purge is awesome and very useful vs most classes especially the casters.... they don't know what to do when they lose their absorb shields or important buffs... even stuff like pally wings can be purged. Totems like grounding and tremor can be very useful to counter spells/cc, and cleansing totems for the other annoying debuffs or slows. Shocks are great too.... frost shock for a good snare and earth shock is great for the interrupt..... a ranged interrupt on 6sec cd that does damage? Awesome. Helps alot in PVP and also in PVE for all the pesky caster mobs that stand in the back or for those healers. An ofcourse weapon imbues like WF can help alot with some bursty melee swings. The Shaman class has many strengths, but also some glaring weaknesses. Weak mobility (ghost wolf is decent if instant but doesn't get the minifreedom/antisnare effect until wrath or cata). Lack of defensives.... which really sucks and also only gets fixed in later xpacs with stuff like Sham Rage or Astral Shift. And then the lack of any good CC/stuns.... until we eventually get HEX and capacitor stun totem.... also the short lived Bind Elemental that only lasted for 2 xpacs before they removed it for some reason. There was the frost shock root talent too whcih was fun but that only lasted for 1-2 xpacs also.... but tthen ebind totem gave a root so I guess it worked out. OFcourse as one of the hybrid dps classes u had the hybrid tax, and gear was horrible itemized in vanilla and tier set bonuses sucked, but that is just how vanilla is. They got alot of much needed development and improvement to class design, abilities, talents, ect in BC and Wrath and onward thru cata and the rest. But still, Overall a great class, fun playstyle with some unique lore. I have always loved the avatar style master of elements archetypes. Their hybrid role works very well in classic and is great addition to any party or raid. You will help make any dungeon/raid run go smoother (esp if you take full advantage of purge, earthshock interrupt, and totems)..... and can be a force on the battlefield in BG's or arenas as a disruptor+support style class.
This reminds me of my early days playing a dranei shaman and my human warrior. I'd enter a dungeon group then one player would say they're not the X role they joined for and then ask me to be tank or healer respectively when I was dps specced. I also recall one time I did Scarlet Monastery and a shaman was tanking, can't remember if we succeeded or fell apart mid way. Pretty sure we fell apart because that happened a lot in Magisters Terrace.
Elemental is good but you will struggle against the other ranged classes 1v1. Mages can force you into a defense, which is basically a mana drain on yourself and warlocks can 2 shot you while you struggle to use your interrupt and fear breaks on them, when you need the GCDs to deal damage. I choose enhance at the end of the day because you're versatile against everything. You can defend yourself against mages because you can deal damage and not be counter-spelled and you have a chance to blow up locks if they mess up CCs on you.
Sadly, the leeway mechanic has destroyed the earthbind 1:1 hits to about half as effective as it should be. To that effect I found that dagger and shield in deep enhancement was a lot smoother than the heavy hits of wf. The flurry and the fast dagger put attacks to 1.03 speed, and was getting a wf proc every few seconds keeping flurry up 100%
No. Windfury NEVER procced from itself. That was a misunderstanding of how Windfury works. They where counting Critical hits as Windfury strikes. This was due to mods. When Windfury would proc it would give 1 to 2 additional attacks. So there is 1 Hit then 2 Windfury attacks followed by an additional attacks because it resets attack. Resetting attacks is normal Same with rogues Warriors and other classes. It did not give additional attacks. That was incorrect.
I play enhancement shaman as my main char. And i am usually one of the 3 top dps. Yes it takes abit more prep with mana pots and all the stat pots. It is a rng spec so sometimes you get sick af Wf crits and sometimes im unlucky and stay somewhere above the middle of the dps chart but its the rng element that makes the spec fun to play. And with the right gear and prep and with a good guild you can easily beat a well geared warrior on the dps chart in most cases. (Especially when you cheat him out of his wf totem and throw down agi totem instead xD).
Enchancement shaman is viable in pvp, funnily enough the key is to not use windfury all the time vs any class. Its challenging to play, sure, but the shaman toolkit lets you outplay almost anyone
I could not disagree more with mages being a tough fight for shamans. Elemental shammy hard counters mage in my expirience like you said grounding , shock , purge if you lose you got outplayed hard
@@LeCaptRage easy to not cast/downrank for clearcast procs so u don't oom. Ele have better dps but if ur not a reee reee enhancement can last longer. Stack spirit and auto attack and regenerate. Not losing much of ur dps but getting a lot of mana back

Unique utility is a strenght in itself. Sure, Shaman and Paladin have also their utilities AND better healing output, but they don't have the -same- utiity meaning you can stack a druid's with the other hybrid classes. After all, nobody in the game can battle rez, and you can't call Reincarnation better than rebirth in that aspect since rebirth is far more flexible and not only restricted to horde.
