  • This video has been my most challenging yet, in both the filming and editing aspect.
It was all taken over two visits in one week, lots of material then to edit in to some kind of continuity, please say it has worked!!
I must apologise for the signals once again, some were working ...others not so.
That is my rant over, so I sincerely hope you all enjoy what you see.

Thank you for your compliment, believe me it is a pleasure to film, edit and of course share this superb layout.
As it is on Pete Watermans private property, it is impossible for the general public to see it live. So the next best thing is to film it and share it on you tube.
I have asked about a track plan, and it seems the original is now nothing like the present day layout...It has been altered so much.
So I regret to say I can't help you with that....sorry.

I remember watching one of P.Ws train and modelling DVDs and he said this amazing layout is a source of power through difficult times.

You know, I have been going there on a regular basis now for 5 years, and I still feel that way every time I go.
It is a truly amazing layout, and I try to film as much of it as possible so you guy's can get some idea what it is like.

Wow fantastic video fantastic layout and must say pete waterman was a truly nice guy when the wife and i met him. The best thing about your filming is you get to ground level unlike all the eye of god videos. Just thought about time I thanked you and pete waterman for the pleasure of these videos.

Brilliant Dave. What a film. Apart from the layout what you have done to transform the "barn " is an achievment in its own right, with all the lighting in the ceiling etc. And with the go pro camera we can see all the other places not normally seen in your other films. Like the fiddle yards for example. Superb shots of the two Castles running alongside. Nice to see you have a model of my favourite preserved loco. 5043 the Earl. An amazing film Dave.Thank you. All the best.

Absolutely awesome video, great camera work and the ride along made you feel like you were riding on the front of a real train, I've always enjoyed watching the clips of this layout I could spend hours and hours doing so. I think my favourite parts of this layout have to be the run through the green valley and the epic track layout near the station. Here's looking forward to many more years of Leamington Spa.

Superb filming Dave and very well done. You've captured the glorious scenery and quality of Pete's railway and show it at it best. The on-board shots are breathtaking. It is wonderful to see mainline locos, trains, running at speed in such wonderful scenery rather than a on a plain test track like at Telford etc.
Regarding your thoughts 'explored every avenue' and 'I'm spent'. Not a chance of it Dave. Your just getting warmed up for better things. Thanks for a wonderful video Dave, superb.

I am pleased you like the video, and the camera I use (you will be surprised to know.....as it isn't a professional camera at all) is:
A Panasonic HDC-SD60 full HD camera.
As you can see, the results are outstanding.
One tip though, always go for class 10 memory cards with 40MB's transfer rate. This will make sure there a no frame drops...and belive me, that will make a big difference.

It bothers me as well to see them pass danger, but the track is still an on going project and not all the signals are linked up yet.
I will be as pleased as anyone once they are all operational.
Hope it didn't spoil the enjoyment of watching the video.

I loved the cab-view shots. This is the first video I've seen that shows the extensiveness of the fiddle yard. Thanks for posting it.
How about another camera train video?
As this one is now two years old, it would be great to do an update showing all the changes. Would it be possible for you to post a cab ride round both the inner and outer routes in each direction (i.e. all four circuits for maximum coverage)?

    • @DaveCooper36b
      @DaveCooper36b  9 років тому +1

mpeterll I agree with you, and would love to do the same again now. BUT, it took me a LONG time to persuade Pete Waterman to agree the first time......so don't hold your breath.....sorry!!

I do try my best to cover every aspect of the layout to make it as if you are there.

Superb layout obviously, but also absolutely superb filming Dave. I can sympathise with the editing headaches, been there - although not at your level. Personally I wouldn't lose the ceiling and background, it's a MODEL railway when all's said and done.
Looks like Ivo Peters' Bentley at the start of the film. Presumably Ivo's down the embankment with his 16mm cine camera...........
    Best regards - Ed

Loved the steamies. It's enough to make one wonder how Pete managed to afford all that he's got now. It's good that he has a passion for steamies like me. I'm a 00 gauge modeller, and if you'd like to visit my channel Kelly Ashford Trains, you will find model and real railway videos among other subjects. I'm not trying to make Pete go down a scale, not my idea at all. Perhaps he might like to see my 00 gauge Cat Valley Steam Railway alongside you. You'll only see steam engines running. I have an updated collection of 30 model steamies altogether. A proper timetable is on the cards, beginning with Great Western Gala. Keep your eyes peeled. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Very good indeed, great trackwork,a huge difference to my Lionel prewar tinplate rattlers,I wouldn't have the patience or the cash to do good scale work like this, thats why I have Lionel toy stuff which has its own charm, no worries about scale.
Although I did notice a few giants on here!
