I treasure a real memory of Leamington Spa. I was waiting in a train headed for Paddington at the very end of steam on the Western. It was a summer evening and the signalman and his girlfriend were watching us about to depart . We had two Grange Class engines, which some industrious souls had cleaned and polished as best they could. One was Crynant Grange...
Good video as usual Dave..! interesting to see/hear how Pete and crew put together scenery and buildings. Great layout..! excellent rolling stock.! Thanks again Dave.. regards Dave
Shows how quickly a blank space can become a realistic attractive feature. You seem to have captured each important movement right at the precise moment. A really educational and enjoyable video. Thanks Dave. Cheers, Bob
Well thank you Bob, I really do try to make these videos as interesting as possible. We do try to show as much "How to do it" as possible, and hope anyone watching will have `a go`!!
Im glad Pete and the crew came to an agreement on the wall and footpath....even at this early stage it looks fantastic. Thanks for sharing Dave and i am looking forwards to the next video to see how the new scenic area looks. Terry
There can be heated discussions before everyone finally comes to an agreement, and then the finished product is admired by everyone. I am glad I filmed the discussion, and was able to film the garden area as it was being created. It just gives a bit more insight to how things are done at "Leamington Spa". Thank you for your comment Terry.
The engine shed is huge, and once it is fully operational....it will be a feature of the layout. There will be lots more opportunities to film locos around the shed area. Thank you for your comment.
They got there in the end with the footpath and walling looks great I may say. The loco shed is superb and the guy painting the grass is very good looks effective. Great video Dave very informative . Kev
Thank you very much Kev, Mike Taylor painting the grass is very skillful....and he loves me to film him to put on you tube, so others can copy him, and do it for themselves. That is why he explains everything he does, he really wants people to create a nice layout, and hopes these videos help. I am of course very pleased you found the video informative, thank you for the comment.
I guessed as much - something to look forward to ! Thank you for your fascinating updates on such a truly awesome project by a great technical and artistic team under a truly inspiring leader. Pete may recognize I posed aboard his 5224 before it left Ropley MHR, sadly not in steam.
That's looking amazing. I drive buses to and from Leamington so I'm familiar with the area. I looked up the ramp that's being worked on in the station diorama there, it's pretty much a garden now. The ramp is still there though. I loved the half a 9F going past at 31.30. Must have been running in. Great work folks :)
Great work guys, very much enjoyed seeing experts at work. Dare I mention, wagons looked brand new, most un-BR like in that respect. Is it possible to age them realistically, be interested if there is a way.
Hi Dave loving your work, I don't suppose you would know or be able to tell me where I could get a copy of the aerial photograph shown at 2:38, very much appreciated, many thanks
Brighton Junction I believe it is teddy bear fur.....there could be some static grass there as well. A demonstration on hoe static geass is done (if you are interested), is on one of my videos. There is a video on how to make grass as well.
@@DaveCooper36b sorry, I am referring to the fence on top of the wall on the section that Pete is working on. It looks like the same fence runs along the platform edge too. Many thanks, Robin.
I raise this problem EVERY time, but there is major wiring work all across the layout, and the signaling is not complete yet. It is frustrating for me filming this, but hopefully won't be long before all the locos run safe.
I havnt?! It wont let me view it actually on UA-cam, bit i just pressed play through Google+ then and it worked??! I dont have time to watch it now but i shall tonight ;)
Wow!!! Wot an awesome vid showing such behind the scenes!! Thats a funny convo at the beginning, but all worth it!! The end result of that station area is marvellous!!! Cant wait to c further enhancements!!
Matthew Snowden I'm glad you were able to watch it Matthew, I believe it is something to do with Apple. Talking to others who were unable to view it, was because it was apple equipment.
good video Dave they get better each time oh btw do u have any ideas for an industry that i could model my layout after im looking for something small and set in 1950 - 1940 any ideas thx.
Great Layout guys. I look forward to your videos. Your layout has fantastic detail and each video I watch inspires m to work on mine. Although I don't think I will ever reach your high standards of modeling. Just out of interest is this layout private or a club layout. Please keep the videos coming. Just a note. If you are going to copyright your Photos , videos etc without a date on your copyright I'm pretty sure you can't enforce it. Anyway posting copyright material on youtube is a bit of a contradiction I think, but thats just my opinion.
The layout is very private I.m afraid. Thank you for your positive comment, and don't worry about standards....just as long as you enjoy what you are doing.
+Phil 1974 I sincerely apologise about that, and can assure you all recent videos have no swearing. The bad language should have been edited before uploading on to you tube, and unfortunately this was not done. So sorry about that, and I deserve the telling off.

Another great video giving some good examples of modeling for those of us just starting out. Keep them coming Dave!
Hope the video has helped if you are thinking of modelling.
Many thanks for your comment.
Fantastic work yet again, and some really good pointers to take from from this.
Regards Jeff
Thank you, and pleased if you have picked something up from from the video.

I agree, Pete Waterman is a VERY knowledgeable man. Thank you for your comment though regarding my video updates.

Thank you Richard for your comment, and thank you for watching the video.
Regarding the wagons, I'm sure if there is a way...Pete will find it.
Hi Dave
apologise accepted keep the great video's coming :)

I shall be seeing Pete tomorrow, if I remember, I shall ask him.
Dave Cooper as and when you can, It would be much appreciated, thank you
Are you able to private message me, as the photograph is copyrighted....but I have taken a photo of it which is quite good.
what is the grass used at the station? :)

Where did you get the fencing from, please?
Could you be more specific please....which fence are you asking about.

@@DaveCooper36b the fence on top of the retaining walls on the station approach. Is it called palisade fencing?
It’s Peco
@@DaveCooper36b excellent, thank you.
Why does Pete Waterman not include people on the layout?
I wish I could be there next time you're filming and pull some levers so we don't see Signals Passed at Danger so much !
I raise this problem EVERY time, but there is major wiring work all across the layout, and the signaling is not complete yet. It is frustrating for me filming this, but hopefully won't be long before all the locos run safe.
