I have both. Long story but one was a gift. The Bose just has a bigger, fuller sound and way way better ANC. If you’re at a gym, you won’t hear a thing. Call quality is far less superior than the AirPods Pro 2. If you do a ton of calls, get the AirPods. If you value the synchronization with the Apple world, get the AirPods. Actually, the mid-range is also crisp and better than the Bose too. AirPods do loosen and change position more depending upon your ear type. If you value silencing out the world, better overall sound quality with heavy bass, and overall a better fit - get the Bose

Based on the price - if you had to get only one for daily use (mostly commuting, walking around, sometimes at the gym - but not always using ANC) which would you get? I'm in between both at the moment and can't decide

Up front, I've been a bose fan for 50 years, but that was speakers and headphones. I've been using apple earpods for quite a few years now. Yesterday, I decided to buy a pair of the bose ultras and I love them. Using the finger touch controls are more intuitive and the bose music app is great. You can even put favorite settings in. I haven't experienced the static problem in the left ear bud, but then I wasn't listening for it. In this case, Bose is the better choice, at least for me.

I love the sound, they’re amazing.. but yes the HUGE downside for me is the fact that everyone who calls me says: “where are you??” When they hear me speak with them on.. As for AirPods no one ever noticed a difference while on a call with me.

I used to be an international auditor, and I was always travelling. I lucked upon the Bose QC II over-the-ear headphones (I still have them), and they were great on planes. I have currently got a pair of AirPods Pro 2, but I'm really not happy with the ANC. So I have bought a pair of Bose QC Ultra earpods. Since I like metal and heavy rock, I think they might serve me better.

I am never going to buy earbuds without wingtips ever again. Had them from Samsung, had them from Jabra and Apple. They just keep falling out when working out. Running, push ups, pull ups. All the time. ANC and sound quality don't mean anything if your earbuds are not in your ear ;).

I have QC earbuds 2, and two things that really annoy me are:
    1. Static noise when no music is playing. I especially notice it when I'm studying and listening to the piano, and in between tracks, the silence is filled with that annoying static noise.
    2. Connectivity issue: sometimes, for no reason, the earbuds disconnect. It happens rarely, but when it does, it isn't enjoyable because it takes a minute or two to reconnect. And no, putting it in case doesn't fix it.
Besides these two flaws, I really don't see any other issue. Overall, I love these earbuds because of their sound quality, aesthetics, and functionality.
It would be worth buying the earbuds when they're on sale and not at MSRP.

    1. Apple really only works well with Apple. If you are ever going to connect to anything else, go with the Bose.
    2. I recently used the airpod pros and I was impressed with the noise cancellation. I was very surprised that there's no option to change the sound profile. Apple has to use a very generic sound profile to accommodate multiple types of music and it would never sound great for any of them. At least Bose has an equalizer.
    3. Many years ago someone mentioned that air pods looked like a bird pooped on your ear and it was running down your face. The pros are better because they are shorter but I can't get past that thought. The air pods will never look good to me because of it. Lol
    4. The Bose may look better, perform better overall, and have better noise cancellation but I will tell you that I was incredibly surprised how easy it was to feel like I got a good fit with the air pods. I put it in my ear and it was right. I didn't have to play around with it.

Very interesting thanks. I have ordered the Bose, because I like the more bass sound that I enjoy with the first generation QC and I do a lot of travelling. 100%
      These are noise cancelling earbuds.
They are better in anc by a mile. Their sound is more full bodied and not muffled. And you can tweak them. These are the basic necessity for a noise cancelling earbuds.
Transparency is still pretty decent and in quiet environment, their calls are fine.
      It's comfortable and stable.
Wireless charging is meh, it is convenient but not a dealbreaker.
Multipoint is probably the biggest miss. I don't use multiple devices, but i can imagine those who wfh have 2 laptops, a mobile and maybe a tablet. So it'll be nice to swap around.

I don't have an iPhone so...BOSE it is! I had QC Earbuds II and they crapped out (BT wouldn't stay connected after several attempts at resetting them). I got a replacement set of QC Ultra coming in from BOSE as a replacement option. If those crap out after 6mo I may be done with BOSE then. I do have a older dog collar BOSE Quiet Control which still works great. So hopefully that doesn't mean BOSE quality is going down. We'll see how the Ultras are! And btw....Guinness fan much? 😆

I'd say the QC Ultra looks better in ear due to the flat surface making swiping gesture a bit easier compared to Apple's rounded stem. Recently bought the QC2s coming from AP1... Apart from having better ANC, I have to say I enjoy the sound quality of the QC2s better due to its richer bass and in-app equalizer to which isn't available in Apple. I agree with you that in making calls, Apple has a better mic.. call quality is just better with Apple.

Bose made basically no significant changes/improvements to this model compared to the QC Earbuds II when there was a lot they could've changed. The app is still trash, still no multipoint, still no wireless charging, still trash mic quality, and still at the ridiculous $300 price point. I'm not even an Airpods user (daily drivers are Technics AZ60M2 and Linkbuds S) but when compared to the new Bose earbuds it's a no brainer.
Also, the QC Ultra will most likely be $300 for a while but the Airpods consistently drop to $200 places like Amazon and BestBuy. If you have Android there are plenty of better options with still really good ANC

0:49 : "until it couldn't block the noise anymore". What does that mean exactly and how is it measured ? It's going to be something progressive, right ? It's not like noise "comes in" all of a sudden.

I cant keep AirPods in my ear. I’ve had every version of the pro and regular AirPods. I have the original Quietcomfort earbuds and they have good sound, ok noise canceling(I usually switch to my Quiet Comfort headphones on a plane) and they stay in my ear. Noise canceling is really only needed, for me, on a plane and I’ll probably just buy the QC Ultra after I see a few more reviews. Biggest concern for me will be the weight. If the new QC is lighter than the QC Ultra I’ll probably update to the QC. Microphone are not a consideration for me in 98% of my use

I prefer Bose to Sony because my extremely bad experience with Sony products: I squandered USD 400 (product price) + USD 250 (for shipping + tariff) by buying a top-notch SONY ANC headphone which didn't work after a month of casual usage. There was a recall in USA, Japan only, not in South Korea. I gave up buying anything form SONY since 2017.

These Bose QC Ultra earbuds are really an insult to those who have bought the previous models, instead of doing the necessary software updates to fix existing problems, Bose just brings out the same products with new colors, and really tries to make people believe that these are new products, and you have to pay $50 more for a case to have wireless charging, bul*&hit 🤬
    Even Apple isn't that dishonest.
Ps: The Bose QC 2 earbuds have a Qualcomm processor and are therefore capable of having the Snapdragon sound and multipoint, but no, Bose is not ready to activate it by an update 🤦🏽‍♂️

I think you have a messed up left ear lol. I've been using Bose for many years (older model QC) and I loved them, but after a while the bass effect can kind of give you a headache. It's cool(er) momentarily, but it can feel unnatural to have that much bass in your earbuds and ask yourself "if I want bass, I should be in a car or speakers". I wish airpods came in black, but interested in switching over for the 2nd gens based on having an iphone.
I will say one thing you should cover is the ventalization. I read that airpods is substantially better here and Bose doesn't offer, therefore it's a lot of pressure on your airs with Bose and I can attest to this. I love them, they sound great, they are great with the slide features to change volume/song, but overall that's a huge deal. It'll hurt if they're in for too long.

There is a certain sound limitation for Rock style music. Songs like "She-Greenday", in the chorus there is a lot of crackling. It's enough to be irritating. Otherwise, noise cancellation is the best.

  • @thatlatinguy9039

I’m a fan of BOSE, but I think they’ve overpriced these.
I bought the Airpods Pro and I’m still working on getting them to stay in my ear.
I’ve had multiple earbuds and that touch gesture has never worked on any of them.
But the AP Pro gives you what appears to be haptic feedback on the touch controls. So you’ll hear the 1,2,3 clicks etc which makes a world of difference to me.
To me they’re also not comfortable. But no earbud has ever been imho. The ones that I like the most are the galaxy buds live. Aka the failed galaxy beans, since they seemed to stay in my ear better.
