As someone who has owned The Bose QCII, The Apple AirPod Pro II, and both the Sony WF-1000XM4 and XM5. They ALL HAVE POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES. The BIGGEST NEGATIVE for the Sony’s were THE COMFORT. The BOTH gave my SEVERE EAR FATIGUE AFTER ONLY 3-4 hrs of use. Personally I wish I could combine them all and make one PERFECT EARBUD. It would go like this:
Comfort of the AirPod Pro II’s
Pocket-ability of The AirPods Pro II as well.
Sound of the WF-1000XM5
Noise Cancellation of The Bose QC II
Which ones were louder bass louder explosions and shootings? primarily want for gaming in a quiet space
Collecting headphones is a bit of a hobby (especially since I'm noise sensitive). I wouldn't say I'm a huge audiophile, but I do listen to a TON of music. For earbuds... I have the AirPods Pro 2, Bose QC II, and Sony XM5s. For over ear, I HAD the AirPods Max, Bose 700, and Sony XM5s (cans). I got rid of all 3 because I realize I prefer earbuds. AirPods Max... way too heavy (and overpriced). Kept hearing my heartbeat, which was freaky... and the ANC was just ok. Bose is always great and I preferred them to the Sony's, but look... they're all good. Just comes down to preference.
When it comes to ecosystems... I'm all in on Apple (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, MacBook, Mac Mini). To keep it simple, I'd say this... I use the Bose QC II when I need to block out noise. I also think they sound better than the AirPods Pro when it comes to listening to music. The Sony's sound great (and maybe a tad better than the AirPods Pro), but if you're in the Apple ecosystem... you'd be foolish not to use the AirPods Pro. I watch a lot of TV with my friend and she and I both use the "shared" pairing feature on the Apple TV. They also connect so easily with other devices.
If you're NOT an Apple user and you want the best ANC and a great sound signature... Bose (but get the new Ultra ones)... or Sony (but I say Bose). Yeah, the Sony's have wireless charging and you can pair with more than one device at a time, but... It's just an extra click. Doesn't bug me.
To me, Bose reigns supreme. Wish they didn't (their music app sucks), but... my two cents. I only go with AirPods Pro because I have way too many fucking Apple devices (they own my soul).
I've been stuck in between a lot and after reading your comment, I think I'll get a BOSE. I have sleep problems and I think this headset will solve it. I'm open to ideas.
How long have your bose qc ii last
The little bump on the left is a braille indicator i believe for easy feel for which earbud you are holding
Ahhhh ok....thanks!
@@CEONTHEMAKING Sand it down with a fine grain.
haha nah. I usually don't wear earbuds much longer than an hour anyway.
@@CEONTHEMAKING Its still a good thing to note because i wear my headphones 10 hours at a time for work so that would have def been important. Love the reviews man short and to the point keep it up
Very helpful for users with blindness.
Congratulations!!👏👏👏 It’s been the best video, I’ve ever watched comparing those brands!!!
Yeah, I noticed the irritation on the left ear too. What I like about the XM5's is the ability to access the LDAC codex on Android phones. This greatly improves the sound above the others.
Yo! the video quality and editing is on another level. I love the fact how you went straight to the point without any lengthy introduction or unrelated topic. Great job!
Thank you!
Exactly the video I needed!
Thanks!
Thank you for another great comparison! 👍
The protrusion (rubber groove dot) on Sony's left earbud is to identify it as the left earbud just by our hand's touch. It's present on all Sony earphones/headphones.
Your tech channel is one of the best. You do a great job of highlighting key features, nuances and your personal experiences.
Thank you!
3:17 / 9:44 That little dot for visually impaired people. To identify left from right.
Got at it with a nail file.
This is a great comparison. I have small ears too and own the AirPods Pro 2. I love the comfort but they don't always feel the most secure. I have the Link Buds S too and while they feel more secure, they hurt after a while and my ears get tender. It's a struggle finding the best overall earbud for everything with my ears.
Don't get the Xm5 then... it's awful for small ears. I bought them and returned it for the Linkbuds S
The Jabra Elite 7 Active works well for me.
Try senhieser mtw 2 , small , loud and high quality sound and a good transparency mode with also a good call quality ( based on my usage)
If comfort and feeling secure is important, get the Bose, they have stability bands of 3 sizes. Remember the sony are in ears, might be uncomfortable for some people, the other 2 stay on the outside of the ear canal.
I'm exactly the same man.
Small ears, easily irritated.
Got myself some Bang and olufsen Beoplay EX.. comfortable, but no way worth the money. Cost me $630 here in Australia and I've never been so disappointed. Want to love them but the connectivity issues are insane, walk through the city one ear just keeps cutting out.. crackling and popping.
Hence why I'm here looking at alternatives!
Just got the XM5s and they are the best earbuds I ever owned. I was afraid because I own the XM4s and couldn't bear the foam tips. These new foam tips DON'T HURT AT ALL. The ANC is insane and the sound quality even better than the XM4s. I'm hype af.
You explained everything so clear and concise! Thank you 😊
No problem!
Watching you from Italy, just press “thumbs up” for the technical quality of the video. Perfect voice recording, and amazing the little green plant when you recording on your table. Often maybe people don’t think about the work and investment behind something like this
Thank you!
apple sponsored?
Thanks for great comparison.
Appreciate your video
I enjoyed the coolness that you designed into your room and all the aspects of the video capture, good lighting, good Shure Mic, and nice background fill music, you checked all the boxes of a good quality presentation. Your content was also excellent, filled with all the good up-front answering questions style. I really liked that you went outdoors to demo the three headphone mics, as most other videos don't go outside. Your editing was also good and smooth and brought us through the journey without feeling heavy and long. A+ thank you
Thank you!
Dope comparison bro. Compare technics AZ80 to sennheiser MTW 3. Let me get your opinion on those 2.
Just found your channel. Really dig the reviews. Would you put foam tips on the AirPods, or do you think it’s unnecessary? Thank you for the work that you do.
Fantastic video. Not done yet but wow it's so detailed
Thank you!
Another thoughtful and reasoned review of the XM5's, For now, I'll stick with my XM4's. Just today, I discovered the app has a feature in beta for EQ tuning. Just playing around with it, they really improved the sound quite a lot. I got my eye on an acoustic guitar, so I'll use the money on that. Thanks for this video. Be well.
I've been enjoying thatb feature too! It's helps alot and it's way easier than tuning them yourself!
Good video as usual. Got a question though. Do the mics on the AirPod work as good with only 1 AirPod in the ear as opposed to 2
Question....what do you use to record your voice from the earbuds?
Really awesome video!
Very good with explaining all products.Thumbs up and I subscribe.
Man, it’s so hard to choose. I lost my 2nd pair of Sony xm4s today. Will be making a purchase tomorrow.
Thanks for the insight.
One of the best reviews ever of any product comparison.
Thanks bro. Really appreciate it!
great informative video. Great effort on the audo
Thank you!
The XM5 I just got them and I like them but they hurt my ear. I use them in the gym and security is good but the comfort. I think I may return them. Especially with your call out that the foam tip breaks down overtime. Thanks to the feedback.
Get some Silicone tips from cheap earbuds. Preferably a big Selection of sizes. I had that issue with the XM4 and imho if you find the right size there is NO decrease in ANC at all
Bro can you please recommend me a earbuds in these three which is best in bass
And it helps for running
Bro thank for identifying about sony's left side ear issue thank
On the volume thing, once you tap 4 times, you get a tone and then each extra tap reduces volume. It works but it is super flaky to get the taps right. On the left bud, they have that goofy spotify tap and that gets triggered more easily than the volume. Honestly, I don't think the WF-1000XM5's are all that great. I couldn't get a good seal out of any of the foam ear tips and I don't get a seal from the Spinfit CP-360's either but the app likes those better than any of the foam tips. I should send them back but I kind of like them too.
I'll have to try that!
quite agree with you @kellypainter7625, I own the Bose and Airpods pro 2 as well and returned the XM5, I have big ears and couldn't get a proper seal with the XM5 with stock eartips or the sedna earfit I own :-( , I really wanted to like them though as the features are great but I really love the airpods pro 2 for phone calls and the QC2 for music and ANC which is the best due to the fact that I have a better seal with the QC2 than any other earbuds.
Just came across your channel. I like this video, i like your breakdown. I need to upgrade my bose soundsport and I think ill be going with the XM4, do you know if theres much sound quality difference between them? Any help or feedback would be much appreciated
I got the M4 and they where too quite for me, no matter how much I played with the EQ.
I bought the Bose Quietcomfort earbuds 2 and it was better.
But the QCII keep disconnecting often and it's HELL!!! To reconnect them back..
Great comparison: I pre ordered the Bose Ultra and although Multipoint might be my end need (thus may get Pro 2's) I will likely keep these as long as the ANC quality is top notch.
i honestly dont remember where i get those points from, but the newer dac version is accurate
Cheers so much for your comprehensive comparisons and you confirm another YTers comparison and that’s that Apples voice sounds like it’s in a washing machine 😂❤
Your reviews are one of the two or three I consult consistently to improve my knowledge base and decision making. You call it like you see it, and never come off as a shill for a company or product. Maintain that high integrity and continue your great work! In that vein I never noticed the braille bump on the left bud on the XM5, but in hindsight it does appear to be a good feature for the sight impaired. Lastly, I swapped fhe foam buds for a pair of CP360's and did they ever make a difference imho. Got a great seal, solid NC, and strong bass response. Tips do make a difference1
Thank you, that really means alot! Might have to try those CP360's!
Great video. I just got a free pair of Bose quiet comfort 2 with my phone purchase. I'm not a fan of earbuds but these have changed my mind. They sound amazing and best of all are secure in my ears.
2:52 This small thing is to see/feel blind what side it is R or L to put it in the correct ear side
I think the Sony buds could reign supreme by adding swipe controls along with the existing tap functions. As well as more customize-ability with the taps. They have presets instead which works but I wish I could make each tap do something specific that I want.
Dude… been waiting on your video. I’ve been torn by the Bose vs xm5 for the last 5 days. Been testing them but I still found anc king still the Bose. I keep thinking I might have defective one or something because I just don’t get how the xm5 is better at anc during my real world testing. But everything else you said was spot on especially about the bass being better in the Bose
Yea man, it's tough to pick a definitive winner
Nah man you didn't get shokz openfit they are the best openear
I came from the xm4 and owned the Bose qcII for around a year. Since I washed them with my clothes, I replaced them this week with the xm5. Bose have imo. bette nc and better base, the touch functions worked very vell, so perfect for traveling. The case is super bulky, no wireless charging and even broke on me. Call quality was terrible, I always switched to the phone because ppl. couldn’t hear me. Pairing with devices failed from time to time. The xm5 case is a dream, for running you can turn down nc at all, call quality is decent enough and sound is apart from the base a bit richer. Multi device pairing works great so far. I’m not a big fan of the touch functions of the sony. Overall I would go for the Sony as the more complete package if I could choose again.
@@0xStevenx0 omg man🤣 I washed my xm4 aswell and replaced them with xm5 now...😂😂😂 so funny to see someone who exactly went through what I went...ngl I hated myself when I saw my xm4 in washing machine....ufffff
s @0xStevenx0 No has even talked if the xm5 is louder than mx4. Its so strange that no one mentions that when a lot of complaints about the mx4 not being loud enough on olders CD. Also, Sony is a gamble these days, a lot of people had issues with the battery on the xm4, its strange how so many people are paying the top price taking a gamble like that.
How do you find the fit for the QC's vs the xm5s for smaller ears? I was thinking of going for the Air Pods 3rd Gen, but I wouldn't mind something more substantial. The LG Tone UQ90T's didnt fit me either, so just weighing my options.
I’ve had a lot of headphones and the Bose are very comfortable, ANC is great, fit is nice as well out of all I’ve had they don’t pop out especially when moving jaw with pressure from talking or even working out
I find in other reviews that the bump in the left earbud is hurting because it's not fitted correctly, what do you think about that?
Very good video!
I bought the xm4's in may 2023. They are very good earbuds BUT they just ain't comfortable , so I ordered myself the new AirPods Pro's . Thanks for the review
Awesome review
Is the B&o ex really better than the Sony Xm5?? I just ordered the xm5 and I hope wont be regret
Bose qc ii is old but i had to go with them since i got them for 160usd new and with guarrantee. I never knew that theres an earbuds with this superb noice cancelling.
Old? They're not even a year old.
05:25 when I see the red dot on the sony wf-1000xm5, I almost think that my screen has a stuck pixel.
After a lot of research I went with XM5 with Galaxy S23 Ultra. I turned on the max bit rate in developers mode and with LDAC codec, XM5 are the best sounding earbuds for Android flagships. I compared it to Airpods and XM4 and these XM5 are the most comfortable and best sounding earbuds in the market. Airpods are good with iPhone only as Apple is still stuck on SBC & AAC codec.
This was very useful.
I disagree. I sent my XM5s back after two days. ANC was terrible...my XM4s were much better.
Same using xm5 with samsung 23s ultra enjoying it
I think based on this video I'll go with the Bose. Apple wasn't an option for me from the beginning since I have a android phone. XM5 cost 300€.
hi can you please specify and compare the prices of each and the battery life of ear bud itself not the case? thank you
also can you please specify whats best in terms of swear resistance as I use them for running
Does the xm5 suffer from battery issues like the xm4's?
Pretty sure if you hold after the 4 taps on xm5 it'll keep going up
That's what I've been told. Haven't quite figured it out yet.
Could you please make a versus video between the Technics AZ80 and the Sony wf1000xm5? Would like to know which is worth the $300 asking price 🙏🏾
Yea, I plan on it!
@CEONTHEMAKING looking forward to this! Thanks a million - notifications ON! 😊
@CEONTHEMAKING looking forward to this! Thanks a million - notifications ON! 😊
Thanks for the good review. I’ve had the XM5 for a day. Honestly X4 we’re better so far. Listen to both apple and boses (sisters) and think your pretty close
bose is great but I don't like the design too bulky, if they could get it smaller like the Samsung buds that's game changer for me, for the price the xm5 sounds bad on the mic
Fantastic!
Thank you for the review. I just bought my daughter the Bose and you're right in that they are very comfortable and the noise cancellation is great. However, she tells me that every now and then, she's experiencing a crackling buzzing sound coming from one of them. If you say the Sony are not comfortable, I'm wondering if you have run into any new ones you can recommend. The main use is music listening and working out.
I just got the Bose and noticed the crackling sound occasionally in the left ear. I've been checking post and it seems this is a thing
@missdeas Agree, Bose gives a 90-day trial, but my daughter is deciding to keep them since the occurrence of the crawling sound is not all the time. Google recommendations are to readjust for nearby interferencances.
Did I miss a battery comparison? Would have appreciate a demo of actually charging the sony vs. apple. Otherwise, excellent summary.
Jabra launch new lineup jabra elite 8active and jabra elite 10 can you compare with sony 1000xm5 earbuds
Great video!
What music app is that?
Amazon Music
I think to increase the volume 3 levels up on the xm5 you have to tap 4 times and hold down for the volume leveler to continue up & remove your finger to stop the increase.
Someone else brought that to my attention. Still gotta experiment with it!
I love your comparison because you show them what actually you have experienced not for promotion someone and that’s what we need all of us just looking what is actually right product for us ..thanks again for that and keep it up 🌈🌈🌈
Great video. Thank you. Are there any earbuds that beat the Airpods across the board? (mic, ANC, Transparency)?
Airpods DO NOT work on a PC and I need a set that works on all my devices (iPhone, laptop, PC).
Suggestions? Price aside
You tried any Soundcore products? Soundcore Liberty 4 NC very solid for the price. On the more expensive end, the Technics EAH-AZ80 Are a sleeper (they even support multipoint for up to 3 devices at once.
@@CEONTHEMAKING You know what, out of all the buds I’ve compared so far (jabra, Bose, sony) the Technic Az80s are top of my list so far. I’ll check out your video now. Thanks
The ledge on the left earpiece can be useful to differentiate and know which earphone is the left, right?
Yes you're correct
Do you findings for ANC apply to Android as well? I am assuming the Apple Earpods works the best with Apple devices.
Yea. The phone doesn't effect ANC
Sony wf XM5 vs Airpods pro 2 which one is more louder pls plz plz reply 😭🙏🏻😭😭 I'm really really confused between these two
QuietComfort Earbuds II vs Jabra 7 pro ??
Bose sound great! But connectivity is horrible! They randomly disconnect. Or show they’re connected but no sound comes out. They’re a pain to use. and the list goes on. From what I’ve read plenty people have this issue also. For the price definitely not worth it.
Great review thanks
Connectivity is fine, just dont use the bose app for now. I only installed the app to update firmware and then do a equalizer. after that I deleted the app. No connection issues at all.
thanks for the tip. I`m going to try that@@victorfernandes83
Agree I got my Bose last week and while i like the ANC and the sound, i have to return them. They are driving me nuts with the random disconnecting.
Just got mine on Tuesday. I love the noise cancellation but sometimes they don't connect
Im a bass head do you recommend xm5?
Awasome review...
Off-topic, but I'm just wondering, what microphone are you using in this video? The sound is super crisp.
Shure SM7B
If you keep tapping the volume keeps going up or down. You don't have to tap four times for one notch.
I've never tried the AirPods. But I'm comparing the Sony and the Bose on Noise Cancellation on this video, and Bose destroys Sony when it comes to blocking out voice, unlike what you said. The only problem is that the left earbud for Bose constantly makes a quiet static noise that is easily noticeable at lower volumes.
Which one will you pick?? You should have announced the winner
I just bought the XM5 and I'm beyond dissapointed in the noise cancellation. I can from Air Pod pros and the XM5 don't seem like they block any sound. I downloaded the app and tried all the different tips and it honestly doesn't sound like it works at all. With the air pod pros I could have them in and sing at the top of my lungs and barely hear myself, with XM5 I can hear everything.
Even better than multipoint, to me is easy switching between devices. With airpods, you can literally just select them from the list of devices (even non-apple) and voila!
i love your videos. i have the xm5 and i have the stupid thing on my left earbud too. its so stupid.
unrelated question. in your option what is the best stem-style earbuds? i am not a big fan of the earbuds styles that 90% of them have. the stem style once are much easier to put in to your ear when you have gloves on.
so what stem style earbuds would you recommend ? i work in a nocise place so i need good anc + good sound+ good mic. i bought the jbl live pro 2 but its something wrong with them because when i touch 1 time the music pauses BUT when i touch 1 time again to play the music nothing happens . i can pause but not play and its driving me insane.
i hope you have time to answer and recommand me a good stemstyle earbuds :)
have you considered the Soundcore Liberty 4 NC?
@@CEONTHEMAKING i have seen them but I have read that the ANC is not that good compared to bose and sony, or in your option how do they stand to them?
Have you ever had any issue with play and pause on you jbl live pro 2? Its super wird that I can pause but not unpause
Hello and thank you for this video. One question. For an average person is xm4 good? Do you think it is worth the extra cash for MX5? I want to buy one of 2 and now MX4 are half priced
Go with XM5. Its smaller, lighter and much better sound than XM4. I bought XM4 as well thinking that now its cheaper, but return those and went with XM5 instead... that was a good decision.
@@najeebrehman7718 i think i will choose bose quiet 2 for comfort
The left earbud discomfort after 1 hour is exactly what I'm feeling as well on my XM5's. Very annoying...
me too , is it because that little dot ?
im bought sony xm5, thanks for the review
Sony King
looks like the the little pokey thing on the left is for visually impared folk to identify the left earbud
If I want a pair of earbuds for my samsung galaxy. With best call quality and sound for music what would I go for?
Oneplus buds pro 2 are really solid for Android users!
Tell me, who knows which tws have a voice detection function like: Sony, Samsung, Google. ?????
I have a pair of Bose and my girl has the AirPods. We've swapped them for workouts, phone calls and day to day usage... AirPods seemed to be best fitting on sound, comfort, security and overall connectivity. Haven't experienced the Sony, but based on the comments, it seems like AirPods may just be the safe bet.
The xm5 case is actually smaller than the air pods. I see a lot of people missing this point.
Thanks, great video. Personally for me Samsung Buds Pro 2 is better option mostly because of the price I got them (105 usd on sale), they are fantastic, have perfect fit, and have amazing sound and features. I mean paying 300 usd for earbuds is not a great idea, so why pay 300 when you can get great option for 100? Piece
100 or 300 makes no difference to me at all, I just want the best. 200 dollars makes no difference as i can save over 2000 dollars per month either way. Either way, I got the bose on sale, I had the wf100mx4 on sale too. For me the bose was worth it, as the noise cancelling is crazy good, and the fit is secure and comfortable and the buds are loud, the Sony ones even on sale was not worth it as the buds were not loud enough, not so comfortable, and sound wasn't that great, also touch controls didn't work when raining, or sweaty fingers, Bose works on any conditions. I sold my wf1000mx4 to a friend for 100 dollars.
And samsung touch is supreme compare to all the other headphones. None all the top headphones comes even close to samsung in this regard. Too bad anc, battery life and wind noise cancellation are not its strong suit though
I think the Buds 2 Pro is underrated. It's one of the best, which is not surprising being AKG behind it. Samsung buds have crazy discounts all the time btw and it's not because they would be inferior. I owned a couple of them.
Hi. Bose just released new latest models, they must be amazing, please take into consideration 😊
Guess you could say that the xm5 really taps you out.
I own all three.. I purchased the Sonys first. sound great but the fitment is terrible, constantly adjusting them.
I got so fed up that I purchased air pods pro 2, they perform very well but then the Bose qc ultras was released so I purchased them and they fit perfect and I’d say they are the best of the three
Bro please maybe you can help me with this situation 😊. I bought the qc2 8 months ago from that time toll present day i have changed the earbuds 3 times . The bose music app it's bugged always the same problem
Did you find the same issue maybe world wide
i have XM4 , but have issue for battery draining , want to switch to XM5 , but worried the problem will same later , BOSE QC 2 , so far for Sound Quality is Similar like Sony Overall ?
Hey, just a good info here for you! I had a pair of WF-1000xm4 that had battery drainage issue, Sony owned up to their mistake, it’s an update that caused that! If you contact them they will replace them for free! They replaced mine 6 months out of warranty! For all they are worth, you gotta try!
Which one sounds better. WF-1000xm5 or MTW3?
XM5 :)
I got the AirPods 2 Pro since I was having issues with my Sony WF1000mx4 (just gonna call them Mach 4s from now on) and I gotta say…The AirPods 2 Pro are not worth the money. The sound is like semi distant. As if you had an earbud almost out of your ear. The sound quality is subpar at best. The noise cancellation is god tiere though! The call quality is absolutely amazing too, but I bought these for music and gym use. To be honest the sound quality sounds like it would be at best be worth $50 to $75 for the AirPods Pro 2.
About the Mach 4s though, I noticed that the right ear bud was dying 50% faster than the left. I tried to look up online and many other people on Reddit and such were having similar issues. I just felt it was too coincidental that this happened right before the Mach 5s came out…I absolutely loved my Mach 4s and was so disappointed when BestBuy didn’t carry them by late July 2023. And then found out its because the Mach5s were coming out. Too suspicious
Same here!
“That’s a lot of taps, Bro” 😂
That little dot on the left ear bud looks like it is there to help the visually impaired. Not the best execution.

Wireless charging of anything other than devices that don't have charging ports is the worst invention I can think of. Its a waste of power plant resources, degrades the expensive rare earth metals needed to make batteries and adds unnecessary cost to the device that could otherwise lower the price or increase the specs like a larger battery, better quality microphone, etc. We really need to kill mag safe charging and standard wireless. It's a mountain of e-waste just to save 1 second of effort in simply plugging in a cord.
If you want to make energy usage more efficient go after big industrial plants, planes, locomotives. Wireless charging wouldn't even register on the pie chart
