I have had this system for decades, they dont strip very often only after tons of usage. I just had to repair one of my rods and endcaps, glue and a sliver of toothpick is my trick for repairing the endcap, the screw on the dowel, just glue it back in. I dont have a stand for them, I sit as a desk and lean it against the desk if it is a long one.
i just watched a video that she said you have to glue the split rod area closed, on both of them, and then use the basting tape , and i think you would have to let the glue on this tape set to the rods and fabric
It sounds like this person was trying to turn a no-baste frame into a baste frame. The split-rods are meant to be simple to use, but they're just garbage.
Hi Milesy! Just starting watching flosstube and love your videos! I've seen where you can use painters tape to attach the fabric to the frame - have you ever tried it?
No, and I wouldn't really recommend it if you want any tension at all. Painter's tape works because it doesn't have enough glue to do anything but mask a straight line.

I think you are going to have lots of fun with them.
I found that the knobs come loose at times and need to continue tighting them.
I use this scroll and I love it! good luck finding the fabric side tape though. :(
I found both sides, and a dual-pack and put them on this page: www.amazon.com/shop/MadXStitcher
Amazon has both of them
