They than expanded by buying regional breweries from the big players. They bought Brasserie Champigneulles from Scottish&Newcastle in 2006. In 2011 they bought Feldschlosschen Dresden from Carlsberg and in 2016 they bought Gilde Hanover from ABInbev. They keep producing those beers for the regional markets and for ASDA apperently :D... They are also brewing the store brand beers for supermarkets in France and Germany.

There's not much that I miss about living in England. That said, these two beers in Asda are things that I used to buy, and would still buy. The Feldschlößchen reminded me of Pilsner Urquell. In a taste test I think that the Feldschlößchen would beat both the Aldi and Lidl produced own brand lagers that are brewed in Germany
In our Lidl in Cyprus they have a Perlenbacher Bayerisches Helles beer, .5l for 78c. I used to drink Feldschloßen from Asda too but there's nothing I miss about England 😂

Asda do 4x500ml cans of Feldschlosschen for £3.65. That's 91p for 500ml which is crazy money for a beer of that quality. I used to drink the Champigneulles as well a few years ago when it was 5.7% abv but then they changed the recipe and reduced the strength and it wasn't so good any more.
