I did this to several sets of joy-cons and it looks amazing. Not sure if the same company is making both products but I have to warn you, this clear plastic cracks easy. I dropped a joycon from 2 feet and it caved in the entire corner. Another time I just developed a long crack over time. If you take good care and don't drop, you should be fine. But it is an issue with these I don't ever see talked about. They look so sweet though!
Also, overtightening of the screws can cause stress fractures so make sure to only tighten the screws until you feel the lightest bit of resistance. Otherwise you'll wake up to tiny cracks on your shell the next morning. Being careful not to drop delicate electronics should be a given, so that's on you.
I should clarify, FOR MY PURPOSES, all I want is screw and ribbon locations so I don't over look stuff, best practice is best practice and no one should do these kinds of projects without investigation or planning.

I used to have the same problem and the cause was I didn’t unplug the cable of battery at first, so during the disassembling, there was short circuit 😑😑

Anyone planning to do this, *please disconnect the battery first* , almost every battery power tech you want to fix, you need to disconnect it first to avoid unwanted short circuits.
Hahaaaaa, just followed this tutorial to a T (redid the thermal paste though). Needless to say, I now have an awesome switch-shaped paperweight! Unplug the battery before you do ANYTHING
From what I've seen in other videos, the same glue should still work just fine, but if doesn't stick, someone used a certain tape. (I can't remember what he said the tape was called, but its i another shell replacement video.)
Dominick Alcorta the only problem would be damaging the screen. If it doesn’t turn on, don’t freak out, just make sure ALL ribbon cables are plugged in correctly
High because I did this and my screen won’t turn on. The touch screen still works and all the buttons but not the screen itself (?). I even took it apart to reattach the wires but nope, something went wrong. I literally had that switch for 24 hrs and it’s gone for now 😭 Nintendo said they’ll fix it with the purple shell but if worse comes to worse, I’ll get a new one so the purple shell would go to waste 😞
Brian Martinez turns out that it was my lcd wire that was somehow loose no matter how many times i made sure it was plugged in! it’s been two months now and it works perfect! the only issue is that my L and R buttons seem to not work after taking it apart. i’ve seen ppl saying now theirs were the same as well
Not the way they did it. Make sure to get EVERY ribbon cable through their slots, and make sure they're pushed in all the way. The first time I did it I ended up getting a Switch that turned on and had audio and buttons worked but the screen was blank.
you can, almost every part here can be replace with after market parts, just the main motherboard a hassle since thats the most priciest and hard to come by.
I'd say around the borders, half of the hair dryer blowing air, short bursts of time doing so. You just need it to get hot enough -- and too much heat is actually worse than too little in this case.
I'm guessing you did that with the hair dryer. The hair dryer didnt do it. Common sense is to keep warming little by little around the outside edges & dont hold in one spot & do this till the screen starts to let go some in the corner by a little pushing then slowly work around not forcing it & if it gets to hard to continue then heat it a little more. Never hurts to take more time & do things slow to be extra careful.
Cris What did you do about it? I just did the same thing today. Can't find a replacement connector, or even replacement battery... I took the rest of the wires out of the broken connector and ran them straight into the pins, this worked for me as a temporary fix but I'm afraid they will wiggle loose or worse touch each other and short out. I might end up wrapping the exposed sections of wire with electrical tape
@@Fadedglory14081 you could probably put a little hot glue up in there after pushing connectors back in to make sure they dont easily slide back out. Not sure If that's a correct way but it's what I would probably try.

The first thing you must to do is Remove the battery socket , and you didn't do that.. it's an extremely high risk act
took about a hour but it looks nice thanks, your video helped a lot

Ya....I'll just take it to a shop and have them do it
Happy Generously what kind of shop would do this? I need to do the same

i’m so excited to get my atomic purple and clear shell! Wooohooo
Thank you sooo much! Just did mine and it turned out amazing!
im terrified to try!
この動画がすごく参考になると思います! 明日から挑戦します、ありがとうございます!
can you provide a link for the parts used?
Very sloppy work 🤢 You should've applied fresh thermal paste and ffs wipe down all the fingerprints before mounting the backplate back on.
Fendera the poster of the video isn’t the one who did this, they can’t hear your cries
Agreed, but it would be a bigger issue on an actual functioning device. Not a broken device that is just saved to be used in videos ;)
or just get a magnetic mat and label where things go...
or just place it next to its hole in the motherboard...
So since the screen is glued in do I need to get a certain glue to put it back or will it be fine without glue?
From what I've seen in other videos, the same glue should still work just fine, but if doesn't stick, someone used a certain tape. (I can't remember what he said the tape was called, but its i another shell replacement video.)
I cringed the whole time.... finger prints everywhere lolol
Oh no thats sooo bad oh no please get hom an ambulance
Btw its easy to get fingerprints off so yeah
When it comes to doing this, assuming I’m as careful as needed what are the chances of my switch never coming back on?

Nima Zeighami hi! What did you do different? Mine is the same way rn
Where did you get the purple shell?
Yes where did u find shell
It’s on Amazon. Multiple clear colors on there too
Ebay
Where'd you get the colored buttons?
So...if I just needed to replace the back cover and the ZR button, could I do that without removing everything?
Yes

Did you break the ribbon cable?
does someone know if it is possible to change lite battery down the line once it starts being very used??? i can't find this info on YT...
I'm quite sure it's done the exact same way as you would on a normal Switch. They both seem to follow the same design battery-wise.

I see u mest up on screen protector
Does anyone know where you can find the screen protector? Googling didn't take me far 😔
its included with the shell that you buy
Can you please do mines ?
I... messed up my screen. It's all jumbled. I'm guessing the hair dryer did that. Le sigh.
Oh, yeah, I was screaming inside when I saw the hairdryer. You definitely need a heat gun for this hairdryers are too hot :S
