For reference: In the U.S., my 1966 Fiat 600, one of the bottom line cars of the 60s had a cost of $1,400, equivalent to $13,000 today. And that was a car with NO Options LOL. No seat belts, airbags, infotainment, power anything, and seats equivalent to lawn chairs. When is America going to stop protecting big buck, gas guzzling monsters, and let us have cars we can afford :)
All that for under $10k!!!! Insane
The lack of words was kind of refreshing.
I recently went to a new local dealer for BYD in my city. This video doesn't do it justice, even tho it is a great video. Let me tell you, in person it is truly nice and impressive. The roomiest small car I've ever been in, everything feels higher quality than the price would make you think, and the interior design is just great, very modern, clean lines, feels futuristic. I actually went looking for the Dolphin, but left far more impressed by the Seagull.
When a small car feels roomy that means the doors, seats and body are thin and light weight. Just be careful you don't crash into a large heavy vehicle. It might shatter like an eggshell. Still I'd love to drive this car.
@@chrisrishermn yeah i think i'll just stick to Prius Gen4.
@@chrisrishermn i suspect it is roomy inside as the wheel base is probable large for the size of the car with short overhangs front and rear and no enrol motor at the front eating up space
This is the type of car that is needed to accelerate the move away from fossil fuels.
Congratulations on your video... I got more information from this short, punchy, omni-language presentation than I have from some boring twenty minute monologues. "A picture is worth a thousand words", as the saying goes! 😊
Glad it helped
I found it very refreshing. I get very tired about people impressing us with their presentation styles and dragging everything out needlessly.
Charging of a EV comes from the burning of fossil fuels, unless its Nuecular
Bring byd to Canada 🇨🇦
I am a Canadian living in China, i do love my BYD, i can drive 300 kms on a single charge which cost 5 CAD.
@@LMCCasting to be fair 300Km is not that far especially for a huge country like China. 300KM is about the length of the netherlands if you drive from the north till the south. in fact you wont reach the full end of the netherlands. so generally speaking thats not much of a charge. however BYD makes amazing cars for sure. just the battery is not that great which is strange. o well for 5CAD its not expensive to charge anyway
Can you imagine a world where China and the US get on the same page? Accommodate each other? Become real friends? Share interests and goals?
No. That would make consumerism, inflation and mental issues worst
thats all up to the US. China would love to work together with China its the US who is too stubborn and too big of a bully that they dont like to work together with China. but yes if the US and China would team up and the US will stop creating wars everywhere and destroying the planet. then they both could achieve great things. China Russia and the US could achieve great things. but the US doesnt like it to make the world a better place. wars are more important to them
Why cant we have them in the USA Biden?
finally got a phone worthy of your videos, Quality. like your car videos by the way
I just bought this car to replace my ds5. Smaller But really good.
I would like to buy it immediately in Italy, is it possible?
Impossibile 😊
Amazing little car. Please bring it to india.
Informative and an ASMR treat at the same time - full marks 10/10
You just knew someone would mention ASMR!
I would love to buy that car in the US
yeah fat change of that going to happen anytime soon. 2 months later and you see that Biden put tariffs on Chinese EVs. they even want to Sanction mexico for getting a BYD factory. so yeah maybe they are getting sold in the US who knows but you will pay a huge price for it. this car from what i just read is 11K dollars. so 100% of that and you will have to pay 22K dollars for this car. still probably cheaper then a Tesla but still.
Just finished reading an article about the BYD Seagull. It would be great to have that vehicle in the US. Auto makers here will never allow that vehicle to come near the shores of the US with a $10,000 price tag. The vehicles made for US companies are far below the standards of this vehicle for the cost. Citizens rise up and demand competition from all over the world. Stop the nonsense of US Made. All US vehicles are made in China. The US specs prevail for the US cars you are driving. Not China specs. Wise up America!
Unfortunately that will happen. They will sell you 40000 or 60000 dollar cars which nobody can afford anyways.
Daam good. Other car manufacturers will shut down their ev.
I start seeing this cars in Mexico a couple of months ago, and I tough they will not survive, but after seeing how they drive them trough potholes, rocks and even a flooding area! and the fkng car just keep going after float for a while, I have to say this cars are high quality no question about it, Mexico is the real test for BYD, if they survive more than a year in their roads they will survive 20 years in US no problems. Probably thats why all the brands in US are in panic mode and will do anything they have to to stop BYD from selling cars in US.
I start to wonder if is going to happen something similar to what happen in Mexico for the last 40 years, when they bring the old used cars from US in to Mexico because they where cheap, but now US citizens might like this cars and start bring them in to US illegally, that will be funny for sure.
I like this BYD Seagull, will be ready in Jakarta this month? Price ?
The problem is if byd is not significantly cheaper than e.g. Volkswagen, then none of this is of any use. Why should you buy a byd that is maybe 20% cheaper? 289km at almost 90% with the battery? That's vw e up size. Unfortunately, the charging performance is also not competitive and the ac charger is not up to date. If you now compare the vehicle with the used market, it gets really wild! It will cost us just under 20 000€. Used e ups are available for 12 000€. The I'd 2 comes for 25 000€. In terms of prices, Volkswagen etc. has nothing to fear on our market. If the vehicle would cost 10-12k, it would look completely different!
@@DobermannJeff But in China it gives VW huge problems. It is reffectivrly an ICE-legacy manufacturer in China because it cannot compete in *world's biggest car market*. See VW's own report on this.

It's incredible how high-quality and finished the car looks for just $12,000 in China and probably under $20,000 elsewhere. Shame that the U.S. put over 100% tariff Chinese EVs to protect their own incompetent car manufacturers.
I smile at the sign next to it that says "VTOL". It can fly, too, for $10,000? 😀
❌❎❎❎❎Why does it still have lithium batteries? Why aren't sodium batteries safe?❌❎❎❎❎
I'll take 4 of those over 1 Tesla 3
"In Depth Walkaround" No trunk/boot view...
Great production/edit and very informative. Only thing I had wished for is smoother/slower transition because eyes and brain (at least mine) cannot process one scene/subject and jump to another so abruptly.
asmr :o
One of the best reviews ive seen on this car. Good work
Best reviews? No narration sucks.
What is the USB-C Output Wattage?
Mpo vizuri byd hongera sana
😃👍👍👍
Not buying chinese
I am waiting for it to come to India
Same size as Suzuki Alto?
Yo quiero uno, plis plis plis
While it appears to be very cheap materials, it's a remarkable price.
What's the price?
Cheap. thus far every single electric car that you can buy in europe from China got a 5 star rating with crash tests. you wont get that rating if you have a poorly developed car. in fact they wouldnt even be allowed on the road. my family in law got a Tesla. i have seen the build quality of that car. its literally crap. overpriced for what you get for sure
BYD O PIOR PÓS VENDA DO BRASIL
Don't buy Chinese cars... don't support this autocratic country. Buy European if possible.
Europa the and 😂
Dunno. While I agree with the sentiment, that this could be sub $10,000 USD vs our industry of greeflation. I'm for waking up car makers back into the reality nobody in the United States can afford a new car, and that needs to change.
Who is going to support my wallet then?
99.9% of the vehicles driven around the world is produced in China. The manufactures moved their plants there for cheap labor. Do not be deluded. Some parts are add in the US so they can say us made!
Yea right ..lol
Nice, hope when it comes to Europe it will have splitted rear seats. These small cars really need that option to take 2 passengers and suitcases/anything bigger.
What are charging specs of 405 km range version? Does it have one pedal driving mode?
I spotted the rear seat too... for the same money, I would rather have that than a rotating screen!
