He walked in on her with another man when he was 12 and he was devestated because he worshipped her. She was torn between this man and her family. I remember hearing Sting in an interview where he explained that the song was actually about his mother having an affair. He walked in on her with another man when he was 12 and he was devestated because he worshipped her. She was torn between this man and her family. He kept the secret for 30 years after that and music became his therapy. So you see it isn't about a stalker or a lover but a poor heartbroken 12 year old boy who just wants things back the way they used to be. For God's sake think of the chilllllldren!! ........ Even though it did result in this fine song :)

This version is so powerful, and so much more of the original intention of the song. It makes me think of "Sleeping With The Enemy" or the show "You". I hope it gets used in a movie at some point.

I think you sound amazing and did an amazing rendition of this song. In the original the dude thinks what he's doing is totally fine and natural when it's actually really disturbing. Yours sounds like someone who knows exactly what he's doing and has embraced that it is in fact an evil. It's the sociopath vs the psychopath. Someone who knows they are crazy vs someone who thinks everybody else is crazy.
