- Extreme Mowing (in Mowssouri) on Hillside with VENTRAC Wide Area Mower - Hang on Tight! Well guys, last time I mowed this steep hill with the Ferris Z3X Stander Mower. You guys sent so many messages and left so many comments about wanting to see the VENTRAC tackle this hillside. So, here you go! Buckle up and hang on tight! 😎 👍 💯

Just purchased our first diesel ventrac. Our farm has many steep slopes in our pastures. I love watching you make it look easy. I’ve been practicing and I think I will love this machine!

Yeah, most of the time photos and videos don't do these hills justice. BUT this one is STEEP! Tried my best to capture that in the video. Appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Yeah, those things are awesome. If you're going straight up and down and paying attention they can go some scary places. Incredible time saver.

VENTRAC FOR THE WIN!!!!!!! Much easier than riding the Z3 on this one lol.
Having mowed my parent's own SLOPE ! lawn with a riding lawnmower, at a ~20 degree angle, ... you did what I would have suggested in mowing the top and then dropping down and reversing, ... and then cutting from below upwards and reversing.
Oh yeah. I can tell you’ve had some seat time on those slopes before. There’s certain ways that you better mow em or you could get in trouble real quick. Appreciate you watching the video. And thanks for sharing your story on mowing slopes.
👍👍👍👍, I think what helps is those big wide looking tires. Otherwise, that thing does great work. It handled that area like a boss.

Looks like you got the problem solved now Cameron. Man looks like they would have land scaped that outside property a little better. The wide cut did great. That place looks so much nicer now. Great job on the Ventrac!

I think the 84" flex deck would also do a good job here. Maybe even better than the 95. Love the vids man and great work.

I'm just loving the thought of having a deck that much wider than my duals. I miss having a trim side, and it would really help offset the horrible turning radius.
The Wide Area Mower is excellent for getting close with the trimming. Definitely a benefit for the wider deck. Really going to miss the WAM deck…
@@TheLawnCareLifeinMowssouri - I used to have a Toro 455-D with a 126" deck. There were a lot of things I didn't care for... but it was great around fence lines.

Seems like a push mower would be a good option to use on the bottom of the ditch where the Ventrac can't reach.
I’ve tried to push mow that area multiple times in the past, but I always go back to string trimming it. It’s just way faster that way. Appreciate you taking the time to watch. 💯
I really wish you had the boom mower. That giant bush thing needs trimmed back to the dang fence. Man I always forget that you have a camera to work around. That’s probably the hardest part of the job too. Lol

Both machines did a great job on this property. Which combination do you prefer and which combo was most profitable?
The Ventrac is way more relaxed at tackling this job. Just sit down and knock it out with ease. The Z3 can do it, but you gotta KNOW what you're doing. One wrong move on the Z3 and it's game over. The Ventrac is more at home on HILLS like this. Appreciate you watching!

@@AnomadAlaska The 4500Y has the same diesel engine as the Kubota B3200 and RTV900, if that makes any difference in your choice. And by "the same" I mean the fuel cutoff solenoid started sticking and I replaced it with the spare we had for the RTV900!

Great video brother. I have 2ea 4500Z models…. In my opinion the 95” deck is totally the wrong tool to use on severe slopes …… the weight is your enemy period! Your 72” would have mowed everything all the way to the ditch. Throw the slope gauge away or tape over it as the power of suggestion prevents you from getting on slopes because the number crawls into your head. I’m on 45’s and 50’s all the time. The ventrac’s aren’t going to turn over they will how ever slide off the slope. You can also go up slopes fine that going down the same slope you can’t back up so watch that it will put you in the position of only being able to go down which is bad if you have some thing blocking you like a guy wire or power pole to get stuck on.
The K and the wide 95 was made for that property it never slowed down!
ABSOLUTELY! It was the perfect combo for this one. So easy to climb the steep hills and limits the amount of trimming when you nose down into the ditches. Thanks a lot for watching!!!!
I just think a Ventrac 4500 might be better suited for use with an offset boom mower. Could save YOU from a roll-over disaster!
The Ventrac 4500 is designed to tackle steep hills. When running the duals, it is rated to tackle up to 30 degrees. With the low center of gravity it’s unbelievable how it tackles jobs like these with ease. Thanks again for watching!

Is the Ventrac slower than the zero turn but fast than a compact tractor when mowing?
I think so on the majority of the lawns you’ll mow.

Does the wide area mower not gouge or miss spots on level thats uneven? and curious to what degree that was on that slope. Just purchased a 4500z and havent got to use it on any slopes yet. Before it was done by a tractor but I think the Ventrac could handle it with duels
It’s unbelievable how clean the wide area mower leaves the lawn looking. It’s hard to tell but there is a huge steel roller on it. It extends the width of the deck and it helps with keeping the deck from scalping. I’m always surprised how clean the cut looks after using it. Let me know how you like your Ventrac after you put some hours on it.

What kind of trimmer and line do you use? Seems to be very durible.
Right now I’m running the ECHO Black Diamond .105 and I really like it. It cuts nice and smooth and doesn’t grab like other trimmer line. Appreciate you taking the time to watch! 👍
