Finally made it out to Sedona this past weekend and got to ride this loop. Had been looking forward to it forever, must've watched this 3 or 4 times before. Had to turn around at Cathedral Rock due to time constraints but was so fun. The Slim Shady descents are awesome, Easy Breezy while a little difficult to find the trail is great, and the views are unreal. Thanks Outsider!
Great ride, great video! Bell Rock is the formation straight ahead as you are about to pull into the parking lot (0:29 in video). The formation directly ahead when you talk about it is Courthouse Butte. I rode these trails years ago (26" hardtail days) and the switchbacks down Templeton off Cathedral Rock to the trail along Oak Creek weren't there. It was "carry your bike straight up/down a steep slope" back then. The Forest Service and VVCC (Verde Valley Cycling Coalition) have put in some tremendous work since then and continue to do so. Every year there are more and more miles of trails around Sedona. Axis, Rover, Ground Control, and others out west near Aerie/Cockscomb area are worth a look next time you are up here.
"Best" is usually a subjective term, and with Sedona, it's hard to pick a bad loop. For those looking for a little more steep DH and chunk, I prefer to peel off Slim Shady onto Hi Line at the red rock overlook then to Baldwin which you pointed out in your video. For some additional mileage, add in a Hogs loop.
A couple of great options I'm looking forward too next time I'm in town...and good point on "Best". Very subjective especially in Sedona. Thanks for watching and the feedback, Craig!.
Great video. Made me feel like I was back in Sedona. Did the same loop, but ended up heading back on Templeton to HT and then BRP. Wish I did Easy Breezy!
Hi Tony, thanks for making these POV videos. When I first saw some videos like these, I was like, what the heck, why would anyone sit around and watch these? Then a couple of weeks ago while my husband was watching one of your Skypark videos, I hopped on the bike trainer in the living room and started pedaling while watching. Ok, then I got why - for me, anyway. Getting out to actually ride is problematic for me for a variety of reasons but it's always a chore to get on the trainer. You know, 'cause it's boring. Now I have something NOT boring to watch while I'm riding the trainer and it helps me get through a short stationary bike session. It kind of feels like I'm riding along with you, you know? Sometimes when you come to what looks like a drop or a tricky technical spot I actually stop pedaling, like, Whoa, quick, what do I do? Hahaha! So thanks! Keep making your POV videos because they're awesome!
Love this! Thanks for sharing and I’m flattered you like watching the vids while you use the trainer. When I make these I kinda feel like I’m riding with all of you too, so this is perfect. Appreciated!
The Templeton is my backyard trail, if you take it to the HT and under 179 to Little Horse and then to the Hogs -- that is the best that Sedona has to offer! Shred the red!
2 quotes: something to the effect "not shutting off the camera" and "that was a four foot drop I was not expecting"😄 This looks so great, and when getting there I will enjoy the scenery and proceed with caution. This looks so awesome! Thanks for not shutting off the camera too soon!👍
I think the disadvantage to biking the Sedona trails is that you are focused so much on the bike and staying alive that you miss the some of the phenomenal energy of Sedona itself. That doesn't mean it is bad to ride the trails there, just be sure to take a bit of time to 'smell the roses'!
All of my videos I do what’s called appreciation stations. Where you stop and take in where you are. Always great to slow things down and appreciate the view. ✔️
I get comments on how people love adding music and some hate it. Most of my vids are just pure trail riding sounds, but I do like mixing it up every once in a while. Thanks for the feedback Andrew.
Wonderful footage and extremely informative, thank you for sharing! What trail would you recommend to a long-time road biker who is just getting into mountain biking please? Something less rocky and hilly please. Sorry if I missed this info in the video or comments.... Thank you!
Great video! I’m an intermediate rider and will be going to Sedona in the next month. Do you think I could hit most of this route without hiking a bike or is it pretty difficult
If I had 1 ride in Sedona it would be bell rock pathway to llama, all the Hogs, broken arrow and little horse, easy breezy, templeton then down slim shady.
NICE! I definitely enjoyed it. Interesting adventure! By the way, very surprised to hear Scorpions, my favorite!!! I might "go mad" and try this Trail. Thanks for the trip tip!
I take it this ride would not be suited for beginners? lol looks awesome. trying to plan some cool activities for vacation. already planning on going to GC and Sedona is not too far away.
If you’re going down templeton to Oak Creek, it’s a FAR better ride on Hiline to get there. There are only a couple tough bits on Hiline that you can walk if you need, but overall it’s way better than Templeton
thanks for the video! got a question, or a problem lol, .... we're going soon, got 2 days to ride and or hike, and my girl is a beginner! whats some good options for her and also where i wont get bored?
Thank YOU for watching! I’ve never ridden Hiline but plan to my next trip. Also, double check the entrance versus where the exit is just in case. I hear it’s amazing!
Approx how long for this loop? 2hrs? Going to be in Sedona this weekend and would love to ride this loop and then some. How would I incorporate Hiline into this? I saw you mention it in the 2nd half of the video but looking at MTB Project map this is a more direct route to the mid spot. Would it be best to ride the main loop and then hit Hiline afterwards and ride the return half again?? Or would I be spent?
Great video. Thanks for sharing...but I must respond to what you said (at 4:26), "You always gotta be aware for hikers...and bikers as well..." True...but THEY NEED TO BE AWARE of YOU !! Please remember to WEAR a BELL! It's safer for everyone and considerate. Thank you.
I ride in the east but I am planning a 2020 trip to Sedona. What tires would you recommend for riding that area? Looks like lots of varied conditions wrapped into one ride.
I wish a had a more specific answer for you other than right now I'm on some WTB (Wilderness Trail Bikes) tires. Vigilante 2.5 in the front and a Trail Boss 2.4 in the back. I'de check in with calling the shop Over The Edge in Sedona if you want to know what the locals are riding. To be honest, the terrain is so different from one trail to the next you might be good on what you already have. Have fun Jeremy and thanks for watching!
@@TheOutsiderMTB it looked like it. I'm getting back into biking ,live in Tempe, but up north camping alot and want to do trails. Looks really nice. Good footage.
Nice vid! Good stuff. Will be in Sedona in May with my bike. How difficult would you say this trail is? Looks like a solid blue with some more techy black stretches. Is that about right? Sometimes it's hard to tell by video.
Great video, thanks for the info! My husband and I may tackle this on our trip out there next month, how many miles would you say it is? I'm not in great shape (coming off injury) so I'm sure I'll be walking some of the hardcore tech. Trying to gauge how much food to pack :-)
Good stuff Diana - you can usually get all of this info from each video ride in my channel in the description. Check out my strava details for exact ride info: www.strava.com/activities/1900704239 This ride was almost 9 miles, but in Sedona that can feel longer due to the slower rocky terrain. Hope you guys have a blast!
@@TheOutsiderMTB - thank you! I'm so sure we'll have a great time. I did check out the Strava feed for this ride, however, you noted that Stava stopped early, hence my question. If I could guess based on the milage you got, and guesstimate the remaining it didn't get, I would assume around 12, but thought you might have more insight.

Thank you Joel - I'd 'ay solid intermediate but you can always walk sections you don't feel comfortable with. A lot of it is pretty easy, just take it slow. There aren't any surprises I didn't feature in the video, but things so look bigger in real life. Hope this helps a bit.

Always good. 🔥
One of my all time trails. River beds make for the best natural flow. Canyon of fools is worth a lap as well
