Same, I pop on Facebook because so many organizations including my kids school still use it to put out information and announcements, but otherwise it's only UA-cam for me. I actually tried to sign up for Threads but because I deleted my Instagram account it wouldn't let me.
Even the best one, Myspace, is completely changed 😢
I haven't had social media in some time either. I'm one of the people who's mental health can't handle it. I like not being obsessed with documenting everything I do and caring what millions of strangers think. 🤪

Oh our phones absolutley listen to us. I was talking to my sister in law about getting dental implants and a few hours later she was getting spam emails about dental implants, which she never got anything before our conversation.

OMG..I thought I was the only one experiencing this phenomenon of talking about something then getting a call or email about that very topic. I'm not sure, but I think legally people are aloud to listen in on our conversations by 2 minute intervals...at least I heard that the FBI can legally do it.😬maybe others can too?!😳
I always believed that Musk and Zuckerberg started this online "feud" to be able to promote threads/X without spending a lot of money/energy. I think they were both in on it to create "buzz" about their apps in the midst of this "feud".
I'm sorry but that makes zero sense 😂 This childish rivalry has been going on for years. Just last year Musk publicly attacked Meta's attempted domination of social media and told people they should abandon Facebook. And Zuck already hated Musk because in 2016(17?) SpaceX destroyed Zuck's little $200m space project.
Even the long, bitter history aside, how is this logical? They're direct competitors. They have no incentive to promote each other's rival businesses?!
You may just be overestimating the maturity of billionaire manchildren. Zuck just wants to beat Musk at *something* and it's much more likely the reason he made a Twitter knock-off was to try to do just that.
@@LunarEleven that could very well be the case but just because they hated each other before, doesn't mean they can't come together to make more money off of each other, even if they still hate each other. Also, instead of harming each other's brands, they may have thought that if they pretended to add fire to their "feud" , people would talk about it more and gain publicity. People like to be in the limelight if it benefits them.

Yes, they may be billionaire manchildren but they got there by having some real skills. They definitely care about money and when it comes to money, everyone has a price and a lot of people will get into bed with their rivals if it means they will earn more.

Back in my day, my elementary school peers and I would keep up with eachother during summer vacation by writing on each other's 'sticky notes' in Habbo Hotel.
This was the pinnacle of social media and we have been collectively chasing that high for decades.

Back in my day in elementary school, we would call each other on the phone and visit each other during summer break, except if you were away from your house. You never got annoyed with not having cell service because there was no cell service. We took pictures with a camera that has film in it and had to get developed!
In Jr high and High School we passed notes in class.
See I was in elementary school in the 1970s. And graduated from High School in 1984. The year the first computer an Apple sold for $666.66. I lived through the video game "Pong" as well as video arcades which featured "Caterpillar", "PacMan", lol.

8:46 this is actually very on brand for Meta. When it was just Facebook, you weren't allowed to delete your account, you could only deactivate/pause it.

As soon as Threads was announced, I *knew* it was going to be a massive, massive flop. Seeing all these celebrities on Twitter making these huge announcements saying they're leaving for Threads only to come back a week later with their tails between their legs was incredibly funny.

I’m kinda shocked they don’t have messenger integrated into threads, since it’s already in Facebook, and linked to instagram, it doesn’t seem like it would’ve been that far of a stretch to link it to threads too
I hated the idea of another app, but as a 32-year old single lady with like 3 friends, I found Threads refreshing because people talk like they're in one big groupchat. People having not really parasocial relationships but acquaintances from all parts of the world. Having inside jokes, greeting each other good morning and good night, and making it a point to engage through replies makes the DM option unnecessary. And it's like an unspoken rule that going to a person's Instagram would be the extra mile that you'd have to do to actually make that person your friend.
Justice for Burger King's Satisfries! I loved them and miss them to this day. Threads holding Instagram hostage reminds me of when that U2 album was preloaded on everyone's ITunes and no one could get rid of it. 🤣

My mom had a Pinto when I was a kid and every time we went through a drive thru she had to apologize for the fumes. I hated missing the bus and have her drive me.
That car was a disaster, especially as it was badged the same in south America, where pinto is slang for "lil dick", making it much harder to sell.
I can imagine the design engineer promoting that thing in a production meeting. "Yeah, what if we made the body look like a lady bug and put four wheels under it with a really small engine; and then made a gas tank that would tear open upon small impacts?"

I had so forgotten that Meta's 'Threads' even existed, that when I read this title I thought you were referring to the 1984 British film 'Threads' which elicits many feelings in viewers, but second-hand embarrassment definitely isn't one of them.
