The World Famous Beat Junkies, Volume 1: DJ Babu completely reshaped my life in 1996 when I randomly bought it at a Japanese CD store. I had limited knowledge of what hip-hop actually was at that time... I was 14, going on 15... and was just starting to dabble in graffiti and breakdancing. Little did I know that turntablism was once of the greatest foundations in hip-hop back then.. props to DJ Babu for being such an influence on my life.
Real recognize real That's a beautiful thing people coming together and respect one another And catching good vibes That's hip hop real hip hop Big up to the hip hop world
I used to smoke bowls with Babu at his house while he mastered his craft. He was the shit from day one. One of the coolest dudes one earth by the way and a hell of a ping pong player. All true. One of most popular guys in school too.

OUTTA control. Illdoc once again posting up greatness. You make me see hip hop in the light it should be seen in...sometimes I get so discouraged by it (misogynistic, violent, and perverse) and then I see talent like this and breathe a deep breath of happiness. GRACIAS!
babu..dayuuuuum..always makes me want to reach way back an open hand-pimp slap on wack ass wannabe dj"s these days.. this vid needs to live forever..thanks for documenting this. '
the blind alley juggle is so insane, honestly i wish i was as good as Babu, and Jay I haven't commented in a while, but I wanted to let you know that We Still Love You Jay! and that I've been lurking for a minute! shit, I want to be introduced to Babu just so he can give me some pointers. no joke. Peace and Love Jay
@BaschVonRonsenburg hell know, its just a little tiny cut between duck season and worst comes to worst! it's exactly the moment when that guy in the back rises his hand and smiles..
I dropped dead at teh 1:57 mark. THAT my friends is a DJ not to be confused w/a mixtape tracklist maker that yells more than they acutally craft and mix. Good shit Ill.
@mixwell1983 yea, i think u got it right. just tuned "i forgot to be your lover" in, but i can't find this one part of the song..maybe because he pitched it so high..
@BaschVonRonsenburg - Yea that's right it's from DS vol2 and its the 2nd or 4th song.. the sight for sore eyes visionaries on that lp is sick as fuck also if you get a moment check it out
Interesting that you would point that out because the insecure part of myself can totally relate. I say that because I don't believe it should matter what you look like when your vibing with the music and want to express that physically. Man this opens up a whole can of worms for me that I'm having trouble trying to figure out a way to fit my thoughts into 500 characters so I'll just quit here.
Watching people discover babu's blind alley juggle makes me happy.
I felt exactly like dude in the back first time i say it.

I'm seeing it with my eyes and hearing it with my ears... Yet my brain is not computing how that is even damn well possible!! Amazing 👍
