The way he works with tempo and grooves and makes new accents in the piece is wonderful. He's working like a live producer here and this is one of the best juggles ever.
This routine would still win in 2022 easily. Nobody makes routines like this anymore, or has this kind of arrangement using that many parts of the record the way he did.
@@LockhartsJournal show me a better juggle routine in a DJ competition, not just in 2022, but in the last 3 years where a button is never pushed and the juggle is done purely with patterns. ….I’ll wait
This has to be considered one of the all-time greatest juggles. I wish I could find the DJ Craze showcase he did at the UK finals in '97 or '98. It was an incredible juggle of _Dance To The Drummers Beat._ I have it on VHS but can't get my VCR to link to my laptop. Also ... PMC-06 mixer. If would be the perfect mixer if it had mid. I never use it but it would have been nice to have it.
This is one of the great juggles in the history of the art. Rob Swift‘s Biz routine (my all-time favorite) is there as well. DJ Chopps Pistol Grip Pump also.
Tfw you've seen Babu perform this routine live, in the flesh, not once but two times inb4 "I've seen him do it twelve times, in fact I was there when he first had the idea for the routine"lmao
@@logicalblackman8228 Well I say good for you, mate ! You were instrumental (no pun intended ) in bringing this incredible routine to fruition, then! Less of the "child" though, 'ey mate?! Cheers
@@logicalblackman8228 Lol no problem mate, it's all good! Ask him if he remembers Fresh '99 in Nottingham, England next time you see him, will you please?! Now THAT was a fucking jam! Dilated Peoples, a separate set from Babu, Supernat and DJ Noize, J5, Moorish Delta, Mode 2 did this incredible backdrop, all characters dancing--and they almost looked like they were fucking moving-what a night. Only Company Flow in Manchester and KRS-ONE in London promoting I Got Next came close. I saw Supernat and Noize loads, they were always dope. Fresh '98 was great too, Masta Ace rocked it, and the Scratch Perverts four man routine was incredible. "Here' s how it goes..." (the DWYCK) cut up, you know that routine? Then they re-create The Bridge Is Over? Fucking ill. As. Fuck! I get chills just thinking about them days man
@@vollsticks I haven't seen him in years. We were more in touch during the 90s, during the height of the turntablist movement. But if I ever run into him, I'll be sure to mention it. FWIW, I have been to Nottingham myself, back in 2004. I was at a club called, was it Medicine Bar? I can't remember. No, it was called Dogma. Medicine Bar was in Birmingham, I believe. Did you ever got to Dogma when it was around? Anyway, I enjoyed my time in England. Cheers.
I saw him do this at a show, then he did something else, that I can't even explain, so I won't try. Now I'm looking all over the place to see if anyone put it online...
I always wondered how scratching worked. It is like they know where the right part of the record is, and the scratching is perfect, right? They make it look so easy.
Ya Boi Nole the white tape on his record is called a visual cue. He is using that as a visual marker for where the “1” of the best is & then manipulated the rhythm with practice & creativity.
No matter how many times I see this, it always reminds me how dope real DJ’s are.
I know dont give babu a hat and a rabbit he'd put the hat on and stuff that rabbit dj abc uk
Fuckin Word
Totally agree
They DIDN'T hear ya !! Tell em' again . .
WOOORD UP MANE 🙅♂️🪄⚡⚡⚡
The way he works with tempo and grooves and makes new accents in the piece is wonderful. He's working like a live producer here and this is one of the best juggles ever.
I love this older style..it is ALL finesse and clockin’ it. No digital assists, no push button escape to a cue point...no fronting, just skills.
I agree
Funny enough i miss cue burns a little
This is what pure skill is all about this is what makes a true turntable is I totally agree that laptops have no business in turntablism
They play it like an instrument!
@@BLIZZARDX3 you say that until u have to carry a bunch of crates to a gig in ur tiny Oldsmobile!😂
It’s crazy how he turns this hair jingle into some horror flick shit.
one of my all time favorite beat juggles, I got this on VHS..
Turntable Wizardry 2
Miss this VHS. Used to have it.
same here...this def was one of the stand outs
Still the best.
Me too
This is my favorite beat juggle routine because of its musicality and complexity. And Babu executes it perfectly. Very clean.
I also like Rhettmatic’s “Cramp Your Style” routine and Mista Sinista’s “Rainforest” routine
Do you have a link to the Rainforest routine?
This routine would still win in 2022 easily. Nobody makes routines like this anymore, or has this kind of arrangement using that many parts of the record the way he did.
Not true

he turns this nice melody into some nightmare beat. sick.
This was a game changing routine by a legendary turntablist. Chills.
I was actually surprised, he actually coined the term turntabilism
Bro . After listening. . I flipped out wit frostbite. .

That was banging, any second, i was expecting Big Daddy Kane to step out and starting spitting "Aint No Half Stepping"😂
Dan bro..!! U rite..!!
Unreal. This is one of THE great beat juggles of all time. Tremendous!
Soooo beautifully arranged and well-executed. There should be a tour with Babu, Total Eclipse, Vinroc, Mista Sinista, and Manwell...
There was one...
And dstyles
@decepticonkrew8431 Word. That list ^^ = my favorite beat-jugglers. (D is actually my favorite scratch musician. Mannn. So sick.)
@ButterInChicago ya Dstyles is a clean scratcher for sure!
No headphones,no laptop,he know that records like his pockets, king of jugglin Dj Babu
He used one....in the end of that crazy part😂
Hearing this on World Famous Beat Junkies v1 back in the day made me learn to DJ. Can't believe it's been 20+ years lol.

Yeah definitely considering it was a proper song too and not a battle break or custom made or even hip hop it was some good old soul
Still got mine.
It’s definitely in my top 5 all time. Seeing this shit live is crazy. The whole room is on lock.
You've probably found it already, but here's that Craze showcase: - ua-cam.com/video/ZS7QxCesr0g/v-deo.html
still one of the best juggles i've ever heard
Dope routine! Change ups in technique give this so much depth!
Still my all time favorite beat flip. Blind alley. Classic.
This man broke the record and made a beat out of it!!!!

Used to have this VHS. It disappeared in one of my many moves over the years.
Yup this is the bomb. He’s so tight and clean on the cross fader. Absolute magician. 👏🏽
the dexterity needed for this is insane
Fire 🔥 juggle salute you babs from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 respect ✊ the dj skills of this man
I like the cue burns on the record. =]
Oberoi2000 you think he’s done this a few times on those records haha
yea i can hear it too that lil static is proof of practice
I was literally just thinking this. You never hear cue burn anymore with all the new digital routines. Bring back cue burn!
