    I like your style! Smoking a cigar while cleaning the grill. That’s the way to do it!
    One thought to offer: if you wrap your diffuser plate with foil and then cut out the areas for the vent holes it will make your clean up much easier next time. That diffuser catches most of the grease anyway and then you can pull off the foil, throw it away, and then wrap the diffuser plate with clean foil again. Depending on how much or often you’re cooking, that foil can last several cooks before having to replace it.

    I run a 980 also. I like your steps. Though I would like to offer some advice....You start your process off fine. Crack a beer, light a stogie, all good to that point. but.... Now follow me here. After that is where you find that neighborhood kid that really wants to get into BBQ. You bring him into the process. Informing him that it takes a long time to become a pitmaster... and you have to start with clean equipment.... With me so far???? introduce him to the CharGill 980... tell him all about it, and how wonderful it is to grill on.... as soon as he gets back from getting you a second cold beer, you're going to give him an "Opportunity" to show you what he can do to "Get Ready" for the next grill event....let him know he's "Officially" your "apprentice" Pit Master in training...😎

      I’m with you 100%. That’s how I got my start. Fetching beers for my Dad and cleaning his pits😂

    Cleaning is important, and I wash the grates after every cook. As to the Heat Tent, the cover below the grates. I cover this with a wide piece of aluminum foil. Making sure that I cut it where the slits are. I also will put a smaller sized aluminum foil on the body part that curves down to the grease collector. Then put the fire channel on top of it to help hold it in place. This helps a lot with the clean up. I have seen others do this as well.

    I just cleaned mines (same grill) using my drill and a scrub brush took me about 10 minutes tops grates and inside. No more wiping for me

      I just picked up a set of brushes for my drill. I’ll be using them from now on.

    Lol I'd probably pour that bucket. I greasy nasty stuff around some plate that I don't like. In my yard, and see what happens😅

    Do you clean it after every use?

    • @BKCCooks
      @BKCCooks  5 місяців тому +2

      Great question. I don’t. I clean it when it gets nasty and needs to be cleaned. It could be 4-8 cooks for me. I tend to cook larger, fattier cuts. I inspect it before each cook and make a decision.

      @@BKCCooks I appreciate the info. I just bought one and want to make sure I maintain proportional maintenance.
      I am trying something different or moving to expound my bbqing experience.
      Thanks for the video.

    Did you use the citrus spray on the inside of the barrel? Where did the run off spray go.

    • @BKCCooks
      @BKCCooks  2 роки тому

      I wiped up any debris or runoff inside the barrel. I only degrease the barrel when I'm doing a full strip and reseasoning.

    Question, how's the grill holding up.? Any issues.? See a lot of negative comments on the internet about it....

    • @BKCCooks
      @BKCCooks  2 роки тому +2

      It’s holding up very well. I use it several times a week and I haven’t had a single issue. I’ve seen lots of negative comments too. Most of what I’ve seen seems like user error. I would definitely buy it again. The results I’ve had are amazing.

      Thank you! I used the scrubbing pad that came with the CitruSafe. Basically a blue 3M Scotch-Brite.
