I wanted to give my review after completing this for my 2010 toyota corolla. 1st of THANK YOU you saved me a lot of money and my car! All of my lights came on (break, airbag, tire pressure, and I cannot remember the last one, but no check engine light) none of my guages worked and my ac ran hot. I could not run any codes and only recieved an error. So when I saw this video I wanted to give it a shot. All these steps are spot on. There are a few note I would like to add there are screws for the 1st panel thay needs to ne removed so unscrew those before you start pulling. Also, the steering wheel could be hard to wiggle off. You must hit on the back of the wheel to loosen it. You can also use a hammer if you cannot get it to budge. I found hitting the bottom towards the driver seat most effective. Other then that some of the airbags come off differently then the one he shows if you have the red and black clips with the yellow tab pull those up (gently) and then remove the red and black connectors from the air bag. 1 final note the bolt on the steering wheel is a bit hard to grt off use a torque wrench for easier removal. All my lights went off, power steering came back and my gauges are functioning and my ac now gets cold again. All of this stopped working on my car due to this issue. My car runs perfectly fine now with this video some tools and a $180 steering angle sensor from carid. I am a woman and if I can do it so can you!
Hello Deborah. I am honestly glad that you managed to do it on your own without anyone's help which means you have a gifted talent. But isn't it strange that all these stopped working in your car because of this problem?
Love the music, if you compress the sides of the bottom steering column panels and pill down it pops out in one smooth move, and there's to catches on the top that if you pry back a tiny bit the top comes off just as easy
I just can’t believe today I myself replaced the faulty clockspring in my 2011 Corolla Altis due to which the system was throwing check SRS system light. All of this done with the help of your video and the light’s gone too. You and the internet combined saved me a few thousand bucks today. So grateful. Best wishes from India.
I would like to thank you for the video. It was very helpful in replacing my daughter SAS on her Corolla 2010. Her car was getting Steering, VSC, ABS lights on, odometer and RPM not working. I read on the Corolla forum to replace the SAS which I was surprise and shock but it was the problem. I bought the part from Rockauto for $125 and installed it. Mahalo....
Thanks to you for the video, I didn't know how to disconnect the harnesses from the air bag. It helped me define that the lack of connection lies precisely in that mechanism. Again thanks.

My 2011 Corolla LE has cruise control. The clock spring I bought on Amazon worked fine but there was a module snapped onto the back of the old clockspring for the steering sensor. I was able to put that module onto the clockspring I bought and then everything matched up. Depending on what comes with your new clockspring you may need to reuse that steering sensor on the new one.

@@YiannisPagonis Χρόνια πολλά Χριστός Ανέστη. Τελικά δεν αποφύγαμε την ζημιά,το λαστιχακι κατάφερε να μπει μέσα στην σερπαντίνα και να την κόψει, οπότε αλλάχτηκε με καινούρια! Η δουλειά έγινε χάρη στο ολοκληρωμένο βίντεό σας!

This is a good video with these video l can change my Toyota Corolla 2010 spira cable next time there is any issue. If l had watch your video l would have save more money last week l ended up paying $535 to Toyota workshop. My airbag light was on for couple of weeks l was told my spiral cable need to be change. The labour that costed $335 l would have save that to my pocket. Spiral cable is just about $135 - $200. Thanks for your Time and the sharing of Knowledge God bless you

The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may cause airbag deployment. INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE (a) Check that the front wheels are facing straight ahead. (b) Set the turn signal switch to the neutral position. NOTICE: If it is not in the neutral position, the turn signal switch pin may be snapped. (c) Install the spiral cable with the 3 claws. NOTICE: When replacing the spiral cable with a new one, remove the lock pin before installing the steering wheel assembly. (d) Connect the connectors to the spiral cable. NOTICE: When connecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE (a) Check that the ignition switch is off. (b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal. CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system. (c) Rotate the spiral cable counterclockwise slowly by hand until it stops. NOTICE: Do not turn the spiral cable using the airbag wire harness. Yes right now I have no function for any of the steering wheel buttons such as cruise control or control of the radio and paddle shifters, air bag light is also on for circuit code, but everytime I turn the steering wheel to the right the paddle shifter mode turns on and the radio also gets functions like volume up or down and switch stations

Γιάννη μου έλυσες τα χέρια και έλεγα πως βγαίνει το καπάκι που κρύβει τις ασφάλειες κατω από την κολόνα του τιμονιού. Το προσπάθησα πριν να δω το βίντεο και επειδή δεν έβγαινε το άφησα μην και κανω καμιά ζημιά,τελικά θέλει πιο πολύ δύναμη.

What I want to to know is can I take a steering wheel from let say the latest hilux with steering control buttons and put it in a car without those using the newer head units
At 6.34, are you saying the arrow needs to be lined up? Apart from that and making sure the steering wheel goes back on the same tooth, anything else to make sure of?
My friend what you should notice when installing this part of the car is that the ends of these 2 arrows should be joined in a vertical straight line. If you look carefully you will see that there are 2 arrows and not 1 arrow.

Tell me, my friend, how did you install the steering wheel. Did you place front wheels facing straight ahead and then lock the steering wheel by removing the car key? I didn't do anything more: the bars, wheels links etc. Only steering wheel. Is there any chance to reintstall correctly the steering wheel now? or do I have to do this wheels links stuff and ->alingment then, as I think? Thank you for your time.
@@janjohnny4945 I'm sorry about that my friend. Because you didn't do what you were supposed to do, your car needs an alignment. It is not easy to do by you, like e.g. engine oil change, and must be done by a dealer or repair shop. It requires the right tools/machines and also the knowledge (experience) to properly align your vehicle. I am sorry 🙁🙁

@@YiannisPagonis I got them loose easy enough but the air bag still would not come out. I had to keep working the screws with needle nose pliers and small hooks to get it far enough out to remove air bag. took me 20 min. but thanks for the response

Depending on what comes with your new clockspring you may need to reuse that steering sensor on the new one.

Do you need to turn the clock spring 5 times one way and 2.5 the other before you line it up? Or is it as simple as lining up the arrows?
The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system.

(a) Check that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.

What I want to to know is can I take a steering wheel from let say the latest hilux with steering control buttons and put it in a car without those using the newer head units

At 6.34, are you saying the arrow needs to be lined up? Apart from that and making sure the steering wheel goes back on the same tooth, anything else to make sure of?
My friend what you should notice when installing this part of the car is that the ends of these 2 arrows should be joined in a vertical straight line. If you look carefully you will see that there are 2 arrows and not 1 arrow.

Tell me, my friend, how did you install the steering wheel. Did you place front wheels facing straight ahead and then lock the steering wheel by removing the car key? Before removing the steering wheel did you put alignment marks on the steering column and your new steering wheel? Did you do anything else after that? (e.g. on the bars and wheel links)

I didn't do anything more: the bars, wheels links etc. Only steering wheel.

@@janjohnny4945 I'm sorry about that my friend. Because you didn't do what you were supposed to do, your car needs an alignment. It is not easy to do by you, like e.g. engine oil change, and must be done by a dealer or repair shop. It requires the right tools/machines and also the knowledge (experience) to properly align your vehicle. I am sorry 🙁🙁

you edited out how to get the t30 screws out to remove air bag. mine seem to be stuck and wont come out of hole. how did you do it?
My friend, to loosen the 2 screws, first spray a little anti-rust on the screws and then hit them with the T30 using a small extension
@@YiannisPagonis I got them loose easy enough but the air bag still would not come out. I had to keep working the screws with needle nose pliers and small hooks to get it far enough out to remove air bag. took me 20 min. but thanks for the response
