- Hot off the presses, check out this new video from VOX demonstrating the new Night Train NT15 15-watt tube amplifier head. This pint-sized tone monster is the perfect compact head for gigging, recording or rocking out at home.
I'm on the side of those who like the demo....dude's got great chops and does a great job showcasing the amp. I'm likely to buy this amp at some point based on this demo.
DID YOU? I did.😃
I like how the one part was shakin', just like if you was jamming on train. On a NIGHT TRAIN!
1:20 LMAO. That lady is really feeling the tone!
haha goddamnit Chaplin, you made my life.
lol it funny cuz he hav long hare
i love DeMarco in this video, he's so chill, great demo!
Sounds great.
Those alnico blue helps too.
Wow! Hello😲
I realize I'm kind of off topic but does anybody know of a good place to watch new tv shows online ?
I love mine; it's so versatile!! As long as I don't blow it up and nobody steals it (I play on Beale Street), I don't think I'll need another amp ever again.
I tried one of these amps today, it's absolutely crushing. The tone is amazing! I have several great amps but I'm definately planning on buying one of these in the near future.
I think that he did awesome. A very well done demo.
this guy makes creepy funny guitar faces
...the reason I learned to play in the first place!
spartacus No, he is funny.
I agree what's all that about - i remember a guitar playing teacher who taught me - play with a smile as if it's no effort whatever you play, but he was from the 50's - 60's scene. I don't get all that this though, be natural man, chill!
Show business I suppose.
Hilarious 😂
one of the best amps i ever played
This guy is just... Wow... I'm a fan.
No, this guy is just cool as hell and presents the amp very well.
he's coming on every note man!!!
Great demo, not an amp I would ever buy for heavy rock and metal, but it is still a great sounding amp, and a great demo.
Years ago I was selling a TDH 4-12 cab, brought it in to my local store. Saw the Night Train and plugged it in for shits and giggles. Had a set neck guitar with EMG 60/81, and holly shit this ting was a hard rock beast. Thick mode with gain around 8/10 om the bridge 81, and it was amazing. Same setting on the amp, switch to the neck 60 and roll the volume down and it had a very inspiring classic rock tone, Hendrixy semi broken up to clean depending on pick attack. Even the guy working the counter was like commented on it. I ended up selling the cab like I intended, and to this day I wish I would have walked out of that place with the vox and the cab. I've never seen a video where this thing sounded anything like it did that day. I really think it was the 4 12 inch speakers and the high output emg pickups. Anyway, yeah this thing can rock. Creed, Peal Jam, any mid heavy 90's hard rock.
Nice demo, cool sounding amp.
Thanks man, think I'll give one a try. Taking a 50lb combo to a small gig isn't a lot of fun.
Man...I love this little amp
Great job educating me ! I have a template now to reference. Thanks !
I was at Guitar Center last night and heard this freaking awesome!
This guy is actually a really great player, though you don't really see it here. He does some of the Boss demos and you can see the guy actually shred on those.
I still own this amp and run it through an old Egnater cab. I've sold off all of my other tube amps.
Especially with the accesory case it looks like the sort of Amp that Paris Hilton would buy.
He is a little weird but he actually gives a good demo of the amp.
Hey that was so cool when the amp vibrated! Btw, that was not the "brown sound" at all! 😂 That's Van Halen's sound, not some country chicken picking tone.
great demo love the amp
Loaded like a freight train, flying like an aeroplane, feeling like a space train one more time tonight... Im on a Night Train!
Excellent review. Well done. Thanks
Not terrible IMO, but I never run it with a lot of distortion, and I use it more subtly so you may be right, but with my use of it its not a problem for me. I don't think this amp is meant to have a bunch of effects thrown in the signal. I think it is more geared towards someone who wants to crank it and get the pure tube saturation, it works very well at that.
wow, the hi gain metal sound is outstanding, i use a vox tonelab, and i absolutely love it, so i really don't need this, i get everything i need outta the tonelab, but i still want this cuz it's bad ass
Totally. I have one and run it through a 2x12 orange cab
@frobank You will need either need a petal to push it some, or just go with a distortion pedal over the clean channel. The amp works well but you have to be sure you pair it with a decent cab to get the best sound.
I don't see why people go as far as to hate him. He's kinda weird but he does great demos and he is a great guitarist. He is kinda funny too
My main peeve is that since this amp was assembled in Vietnam, they liberally coat components on the pcb with that yellow glue. You guys at Vox need to have your overseas assemblers stop gluing parts on the board. Gobs of glue are on my resistor and capacitor leads. I traced a lot of fizz and noise from that glue. Better yet, start making amps in the U.K. again. The distortion on this amp is as bright as glass too at full volume, despite EQ settings... It's still a fun amp for cleans and crunch. I wish you guys would do more head units rather than combos.
Vietnam, actually. And it kicks ass.
I got this with a stock vbn212 2x12 amp and it sounds ridiculously good. When I heard this on clean in pentode mode I was sold. I'm sure it sounds better with the celestion blue's but I'm not sure it sounds $600-$700 better if ya know what I mean. But, my major regret is that this doesn't have a footswitch. I think it will sound good on clean with some good distortion pedals though.
really good demo TY!
Very good rewiew thanks!
He is funny man. Just a nice Italian guy.
I bet this man uses a lot of moisturizers.
Everybody Loves Ramen(noodles)
There really should be a Tiny Terror vs Nighttrain comparison video.
Cab-wise however, Orange is the way to go.
The Edgar Winter passage at 2:30 made me giggle a bit..
@SamuelllSabotage There's always the Tube Screamer (and clones) which gives a nice mid bump. I like the OCD, personally, but any decent OD would work. You just need something to add a little gain and push the preamp harder.
@letshakehands Both are great, but if you want the versatility of tones, go for the Night Train. The Tiny Terror is geared mainly for distortion. Doesn't have the Vox British Invasion tones which is what I wanted first and foremost. Either one's a winner though. Just depends on what style(s) you play.
You can still run reverb or delay, personally I like the way delay sounds in front of the amp and not in the loop, others may not however. The only way the could have been able to squeeze reverb in here would either to have to make it DSP or it would cost a lot more with a tube driven spring pan.
you sir are a genius
nice demo, i swear his hair can pass off as instant noodles
i want one so bad.
@thehornypuppy. By clean headroom I mean the ability to increase the volume to a level where you can get above the band and not have the tubes start to overdrive and distort the sound. ie to be able to play cleanly at high volume.
1:14 dem feels
@TheOscana he is Freddy demarco ,johny's brother.
Think I may have to buy
God I love the Demarco's
Man, those faces he is making are killing me...
vox delivers their newest creation, the night toaster
This guy crack me up.
That's his brother, Johnny. This is Freddy DeMarco.
Yeah, he's got some funny faces, but no-one can deny his killer chops. Get over it u-toobers...spend more time playing rather than being trivial. So what if he uses terms liek "rippin distortion" etc, which sound pox - thats just his style. He play most of us under the table (with facial expression to match!)
BTW, this amp is fantastic sounding. Its my only modern/new amp, which to me says something. Peace out
This guy is high as fuck
smackenurjunk I thought I was for a minute with all the blur effects going on haha
Dear vox, if you see this comment I want you to know that whoever edited this video should be told to refrain from using any cheap preset effects on whatever editing software they use. It's really unpleasant and very tacky. I like the demo and the way it was presented though.
I'm on the nightrain!
V10 FSI FUCK YEA
Have you ever seen anyone as self-impressed as Johny Demarco?
@letshakehands Night train, I think. because i think the Orange can't give any normal clean sounds. but that's my oppinion
I fuckin love this guy
jackbaradog RIGHT?? This guy may be a little weird, so what? Dude gets into his playing! I bet all of us have looked goofy as hell at some point when playing!
I agree!
True, wattage isnt necessarily a measure of quality. How often does one actually get to turn your tube amp all the way? At best its 1 for bedroom and 5-6 maybe 7 live. The Night train is also tiny! But it depends on what you play
@unreliabl ahhh, probably the V112NT Half Stack, i believe its the cabinet specifically made for this amp head...im not 100% sure, so dont quote me lol
Look for Hammond Organ AO 43 or Other on side of road! Plug in and go.
his hair is lovely though
...and it's off to the pawn shop he goes. Very handy size. I wish all of these new amps could really be put to a comparison test. I've got old dusty relics from my past that sounded W---A----R----MMMMMM. The late 70's and early 80's were a great time for guitar amps. They could be bought cheaply, especially if they were tube amps. Conversations in the music stores were sometimes ridiculous, but if you had any sense you could downplay an old Twin Reverb and walk out with it for $300.Vintage??
@dattoboy1 What do you mean? He's a good player. Makes some funny faces, but we all do when we get to that sweet spot, (know what I mean? ) LOL! This is the only good demo of this incredible amp because this player demos the clean tones as well as the dirty ones. All the others are trying to play metal through this unit on their post only.. And surprisingly, this amp can do that as well. But I bought mine for the early British Invasion tones mainly.
I love your funny faces and now I am sitting here wondering what faces you pull when you're on top of your girlfriend :-)
that's gay.
***** srsly? y?
@Dylan Anderson 😅
it can do the ac's pretty well
that is dang nice guitar, got to play on one today, wow, really sweet,, at least to me. but if gonna spend that kind of money, it better be sweet
@crazkurtz I was thinking the same thing. I think the cab has a celestion greenback. would think it would sound good.
Доширак на голове=) Но звук очень и очень достойный. Пожалуй, буду копить)
i love this amp i want it
Hilarious video
idk that there is a specific footswitch, but I bet you could just use a genaric one
I've been wondering about buying a lighter head than my AC15, for when I want to jam with others. The Night Train is the same power as the AC15, yet is much smaller - and, by the look of it, lighter. What's been sacrificed in the smaller amp and what effect does this have? Thanks, Richard
2:50 epic faces start, 3:07 I laugh so hard I start crying
1:50 - 2:10
Woah... Love this amp, looks great and sounds great !!
Just wish I could afford one..Bugger :0(
@omegalen Makes sense. With all the pedals out these days, anybody can get any kind of drive or distortion they want. But there is no "clean" pedal for an am that breaks up too soon. I want an amp that will naturally compress as the volume goes up without any clipping.
How do you clean the tarnish/oxidation off the chrome housing? Thanks!
Just ran into this with mine and found a great solution that took surface level rust off beautifully without scratching the metal at all. Unscrew the cover and then use a little white vinegar with aluminum foil to scour the oxidation and tarnish. Wipe with a paper towel and repeat as necessary. Made my Night Train look amazing again!
Please explain the two speaker cabinets when it is only 15 watts ! And has one input jack and no way to slave another amp possibly the one one top? Ty?
@omegalen Exactly. I also have an HR Dlx and agree it is "insanely loud" at least for my purposes. I want to keep it clean, but level off the peaks without relying on an external compressor. And I don't want clipping either. So I'm wondering if a low power amp is the way to go, if it can squeeze the output without the clipping / breaking up. Don't know if that makes sense.
@unreliabl actually it looks like a Vox Custom AC15c1, but im not sure
Mmmm Night train, my favorite wine. LOL
@TheOscana
That's because he's Johnny DeMarco's brother...Freddy Demarco.
Freddy is the less annoying of the two.
my only gripe with this demo, is he's not using the cabinet that goes with the head
holy shit, this dude is tripping me out!!
You can’t handle this dude
Why not use the matching cab when demoing the Night-Train, or is the speaking in this amp also a celestion Greenback ?
Vox amps are great though, I think the fender cleans are better, but you buy a vox for that nice chimey overdrive IMO, I have quite buying boost pedals, as I only play at home these days ( married sucks ) so I now have a handfull of 15 watt-ish amps for the home, if I want a nice overdrive, I just plug into a vox, nice cleans, I plug into a fender, that's how I roll these days
Maybe I'm outta the loop but it sounded like he said "brown sound" for use in country and blues. I thought brown sound was Van Halen tone...
the amp is nice, beautiful, but the gigbag sucks. mine broke and the amp went down to the ground, smashing a little in the choke side.
yep, brand new from store, the day I bought it.
nice bedroom/recording amp
damn shame no effects loop... :(
So. kool so close,
I'll wait for the next version...
gosh mr demarco totally exhausted with the shoot maybe..
And there are no pedals in between right? Just the guitar and the amp?
cool!!!
wut type of cab is he using? i've just started getting into vox amps.
Why do they never use the 1x12 cab thats designed for it in these videos. You think an endorsed Vox video on the Vox Night Train would also show case the specifically designed cab. Makes me worry about the 1x12 cab. Is it any good? I have the head on order, making my own cab.
