I was born Muslim , from an around Muslim family, and an age of 16. I wanted to convert to Catholicism but because of fear of bad things that will happen to me . I waited. I was baptized and confirmed at the age of 23 that was 39 years ago and I never looked back. I am glad and deeply honored to be Catholic thank God for that. I believe in our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the son of the living God for me Long live our Holy Catholic Church and our beloved Pope who is the vicar of Christ …. the Catholic Church is a major part of my life and at the age of 62 right now I am very happy person and when my time comes, I will be buried as Catholic and I will go to heaven, and I will meet our Lord Jesus Christ, and I always pray the rosary and ask the blessed mother the holy Virgin Mary to pray for me and I say this … Hail Mary full of grace. The Lord is with the blessed with thee.blessed are thou among us women and blessed is a fruit of thy womb Jesus. holy Mary mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death . Amen
All of my grandparents were born Javanese Muslim. They converted to Catholicism, mostly because they went to Catholic schools in the 1930s. Due to this reason, I was born into a Catholic family. Being a native Indonesian and Catholic makes me a minority in Indonesia. Papal visit in Indonesia means a lot for me because for the first time in my life, I see that people don’t perceive Catholicism merely as a minor religion in Indonesia, but also a religion whose leader embraces love, humility, and kindness.
For Filipinos, Indonesia is our brother and a family because even we're different we loved each other together in different religions and ethnic groups and Papal Visit in Indonesia is very special because this is the first time to attend mass in Jakarta with Filipino Community in Indonesia 😊😊 Even it was nine years ago when Pope Francis visit the Philippines, this is remained unforgettable and Filipinos never forget Pope Francis 😊😊 For me, Indonesia was my favorite country and my dream visit since PBBM's State Visit to Indonesia in 2022 so with all my heart, I hope to see you in Indonesia next year and I will be waiting for you 😊😊 After Papal Visit, Indonesia and the Philippines are ready to celebrate 75 Years of Diplomatic Relations by November 24 😊😊 Trivia:The Relationship of Indonesia and Philippine Catholics is the University where the Catholic University of De La Salle Manado was founded by the collaboration of Manado Bishop and De La Salle University in Manila 😊😊 Greetings from Calamba City Laguna in the Philippines 🇵🇭💕🇮🇩

The Media can skew statements: Pope Francis did Not approve nor support same-sex couples. But, to give blessing to a person who needs it even though he or she is part of LGBTQ. Pope Francis made it clear in his interview in an American Broadcast network. The Church Cannot Bless same sex union. It cannot be. - Pope Francis
Exactly. The Vatican and The Pope actually released an official document online that says they cannot bless same sex unions/marriages. People are so gullible and lazy to do proper research these days.

Bener. Penasaran bapak itu siapa. Lagi enjoy nonton, langsung bete banget pas tau salah satu yang di wawancara nya kurang baca. At least baca dulu gitu lhoo pak baru ngomong 😌😌 Padahal in actual pesan pope selalu damai banget even semua pesan yang disampaikan di Indonesia. The pope did not approve homosexuality but he said to bless all sinners but not couples. The Church can’t bless sin but blesses sinners to have grace needed to break free from such sins. May God forgive us all through Jesus Christ our Lord and savior
Thank you, CNA Insider, for shedding light on the complex situation we face in Indonesia regarding religious freedom. We take pride in our national motto, *Unity in Diversity* but we must also acknowledge our shortcomings if we want to achieve true harmony. Fortunately, even though Islam is the overwhelming majority in Indonesia, with nearly 90% of the population adhering to the faith, groups like Majelis Mujahidin-who push for sharia law to dominate every aspect of life and seek to suppress non-Muslims-are not popular (at least for now). In fact, people from all faiths-Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, and others-celebrated the recent visit of Pope Francis. One critique: when you say “Timorese,” you’re only referring to East Timorese, but there’s also West Timor, which is part of the Indonesian province of Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). While West Timor itself isn’t a Catholic-majority region (Protestantism is just as present), NTT as a whole is, with Catholicism deeply rooted in the region’s history since the 17th century. Catholicism remains a major part of life in NTT, and its residents are proud Indonesians-the province is even the birthplace of *Pancasila* which is Indonesia’s guiding philosophy. So next time, please specify which “Timorese” you’re referring to. East and West Timorese might share common ground, but they’re also quite different in many ways.
West Timor is not 100% Catholic. Only regencies of Belu, Malaka and Timor Tengah Utara are Catholic-majority. The rest, including Kupang City (capital of NTT Province), is Protestant-majority.
@@narumondanauli2845 Point taken, my original wording made it sound like West Timor itself had a Catholic majority, when I meant Nusa Tenggara Timur to have the Catholic majority. I will change the wording of my comment. Thank you for your correction
Sharia law is positive...it ensures a civilized society. It is now interpreted as "hukum positif" in Indonesia. Without it....Indonesian society will be infested by alcoholism, woke-ism and many other bad excesses of western liberalism. Indonesia is perfectly balanced, modest and tolerant without being too westernized

@@demandmarly8588 Sharia law is a positive force in Indonesia and already implemented as "positive law" since long ago to prevent alcoholism, prostitution and other excesses of western liberalism. I enjoyed watching this, because it's true. I learned the history of Timor Leste from history subjects when I was still in middle school. Every middle school student knows this tragic story and our teachers teach us to always maintain unity and respect our brothers and sisters in Indonesia, even though we are of different ethnicities, religions and races. It's really sad to see our brothers suffering in that era. Hopefully Indonesia will be better in the future. Moreover, Indonesian democracy is currently in quite an emergency situation. May we all be protected by God. Thank you CNA for bringing this up
@@marekdeboer7977 Yes, brother Indonesia is not country based on one race. There is two big native races in Indonesia: Austronesian and Melanesian. I'm the one example of it. I'm half melanesian from my mother family in Papua Island (Jayapura City) which is Catholic. And, half Austronesian (Sundanese Ethnicity in West Java) mixed with Chinese blood from my father family in Jakarta which is Muslim family. Moreover, I'm also muslim following my father religions. So, my parent family is the only muslim in my big family from my mother in Papua. However, I also came when My Catholic Big Family celebrates Christmas. My big Catholic Family also came when my parent family celebrates eid mubarak. I mean, this is only little example of how complex our diversity is in Indonesia. There is millions family in Indonesia from all over the country that have the same situations. I believe that several Singaporean also have the same situation of complex diversity as well. And, personally, I don't like the word of majority and minority race, religion, or ethnicity. 'Cause it could disintegrates us as Indonesian Community. Yes, Indonesia is not a perfect country. There are still cases of inter religious tolerance happening here and there. But the Majelis Mujahidin mentioned in this report is not a major organization (yet?). It's the first time I am hearing it as well. NU and Muhammadiyah which are the two largest Muslim organizations which play influential roles to the government respect religious diversity of the country.
a true muslim wouldn't have insecurity of their faith - I'm muslim myself ... been studied in Catholic school since primary years ... have lots of lots non-muslim friends ... and we are so beautifully bonded together None in my mind ever think that my friends intend to change my faith ... only those who have insecurity and low degree of faith who send prejudice, hoax and ignorant message toward other faiths about Timor Leste ... people has to know that Fretilin - The Revolutionary Front for an Independent East Timor - was a lefty nasionalist political group ... and it was in Cold War when Communism and Liberalism were arm-wrestling Are people really that naive to think that Indonesia's invasion had nothing to do with the US ?? Don't get me wrong ... as Indonesian, I always love and support TimLes dearly ... just let the past be remembered as history - learn the lesson without pointing out one to another
You are really naive lol.. USA was afraid of Timor becoming a new Vietnam and Soeharto himself was hungry for territorial expansion.. Fretilin's spokesperson Ramos-Horta (a Catholic) was interviewed by Australian journalists before the invasion and he invited representatives of Indonesia to come and observe on the ground if Timor-Leste was communist (the interview is still available). But Soeharto was never interested in that and in fact he ordered a team to spread propaganda that Fretilin were killing all others who did not identify as a communist when the majority of the people in Timor did not even know what communist meant. Yes USA was feeling insecure but Soeharto also tried to capitalize on USA's insecurity. Yes all gears, rifles, ships, jets and planes were American made. Everybody knows that except young Indonesians who thought western powers were the reason Indonesia lost "its 27th province".. I wonder if the Indonesian government were the one who wrote the history books for students in Indonesia 😅

Do you think TimLes could defend themself from war againts US - like Vietnam did ?? NO WAY ... TimLes would definitely be "destroyed" by US's military in a sec ... and the land would be fully controlled by US >>> this's what Suharto didn't want, so he invaded TimLes instead (after Australia sugested him too) You gotta see my friend, there's a reson why Indonesia is the only country in (Southeast Asia) archipelago that joined the non-aligned movement ... why ?? because Indonesia could stay neutral in Cold War, while other countries couldn't - and that's a threat for US Look at the main reason British formed FPDA with Australia, Malaysia and Singapore ... FPDA were originally formed to anticipate threat from Indonesia, which during the time, was under Sukarno's lead

CNA has several facts wrong or not telling controversial history why and how Indonesia went into East Timor after Portugal left turmoil and chaos. What faction declare independent and who declare to join and seek help from Indonesia. Geographically, Timor Leste (East Timor) is in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), one of Indonesian provinces that has catholic majority population. NTT consists of several big islands e.g. Flores, Sumba, Timor and smmaler islands e.g. Alor, Lembata, Rote, Sabu, Adonara, Solor, Ende, Komodo. All but small island of Alor are overwhemingly catholic/christian. So, East Timor (Eastern half of Timor island) is never minority in term of religion or ethnicity (same as their NTT brothers sisters). But yes before 1975 catholic was only about 10% and after becoming 27th province of Indonesia soaring to 90% just like it neighbour NTT.

Also, If i'm not mistaken. The era of President Suharto that force people to choose religion is his tactics to erase the communist radical group in Indonesia. So, indeed, this is the worst era of Indonesia where there is bunch of radical political and religious group, civil war between ethnicity, difficult access of education, difficult access of health facility, and massive poverty because the country is still young, and corruptive government. And, actually, for some of that problem is still happening in this country May God bless all of us
Yeah... Indonesian must be assigned 1 out of 6 acknowledge religion or belief since they were born. Hence, moat of Indonesian only know that there are only 6 religions and belief until they browse the internet and realize by themselves that there are more than 6. The biggest annoyance is if you want to have inter-religion marriage. This might be the biggest reason why a lot of people try to find an SO with same religion or belief or at peast not so devout that SO could change their registered religion or belief.

Islamic conservatism appears to be growing in Indonesia, but that doesn't necessarily overshadow the strong presence of moderatism, which continues to be a significant force. Historically, moderatism and secularism have been foundational in Indonesia, and they remain influential. The recent coverage by CNA Insider, which referenced a questionable survey by Pew Research and featured a relatively obscure figure like Sobarin Syakur (no one have heard his name, even google), may have unintentionally exaggerated the perceived rise of Islamic conservatism. The inclusion of such unrecognized individuals and organizations could lead to a distorted understanding of the actual sociopolitical landscape, where the balance between conservatism and moderation is far more nuanced than what was portrayed.
As an East Timorese, I am watching this after the pope's visit today in Dili. Thousands of people came to participate in welcoming this visit. The real Truth does not need to prove and protect itself. The real Truth does not pretend to be "right". The real Truth is incompatible with arrogance, intolerance, hostilities and violence. There is no need to 'defend' your truth and faith, but essential to be faithful yourself and live accordingly. If not for the sacrifices of our forefathers, we will not experience the blessings of being a Catholic. Freedom is not free, it comes with a price. The cost of USD12 Million for East Timor, may be huge but in the end that will be nothing. The mere fact that Pope Francis visited this country is the biggest advertisement. One big investor will dwarf this USD12 Million. And the best thing that the fact that people will go deeper in their faith - as for me is priceless. God bless to all!
About 28:00 the tolerance in my beloved country Indonesia: 1. If a country is governed based on the majority religion, as that man said, then the struggles of the minority heroes in the past were in vain (and it wasn’t worth it for them to fight for the nation's independence). Several developed countries that once required their citizens to adhere to a certain religion have since abolished such mandatory rules, granting freedom of religion. Although some discriminatory actions still persist, this is part of the process- a process toward better acceptance. It may be difficult for us as minorities today, but we must not allow future generations to suffer. Approaching and learning about differences in any context can be our goal to live in peace. Indonesia is a pluralistic country, remember that! 2. And if you want to understand Pope Francis’ statement, you need to read and carefully examine it. Blessing does not mean administering the sacrament of marriage (in Christian-Catholic teachings), and yeah sure, cuz you don't know about this. The sacrament of marriage can only take place between a man and a woman. If someone or a same-sex couple asks for a blessing (especially from priests), the blessing should be given, but not the sacrament of marriage, because sacraments are sacred in Catholicism. 3. Discrimination in Indonesia is indeed very real and heartbreaking. If you are confident in your religion, you will believe in it more strongly without fearing the presence of other religions. I want to say that this world, and even this country, will not be balanced or peaceful if we do not accept differences.
Please don't put words into the Pope's mouth! 🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀Please understand what he truly meant - he simply said not to criminalize homosexuals, for that matter the Christian faith does not allow us to condemn anyone but to forgive anyone who hurts us, pray for their conversion, and love everyone as we are all children of God. Hate the sin, not the sinner - that is the message! And for the record, the Pope does not come up with anything due to his own wish or desire.

Panchasila is the lay moral code in Buddhism. But it predates Buddhism .Good to see a country based on those. It is a universal set of 5 simple rules for harmony among people. But it is not something to be enforced like Sharia. Some precepts should be followed by free will than legal enforcement, because some things are OK in moderation. Ideals are not Rules
Why do people fail to understand what the Pope says about blessings? Blessings are NOT for same sex couples BUT for the individual and never at the same time - not a blessing for such a union
I was born Muslim , from an around Muslim family, and an age of 16. I wanted to convert to Catholicism but because of fear of bad things that will happen to me . I waited. All of my grandparents were born Javanese Muslim. They converted to Catholicism, mostly because they went to Catholic schools in the 1930s. Due to this reason, I was born into a Catholic family.

@@marekdeboer7977 Yes, brother
Indonesia is not country based on one race.
Also, I'm very happy when hearing that my sister convert her religion to Catholic this year because of her own choice. I wish for her happiness

about Timor Leste ... people has to know that Fretilin - The Revolutionary Front for an Independent East Timor - was a lefty nasionalist political group ... and it was in Cold War when Communism and Liberalism were arm-wrestling
Are people really that naive to think that Indonesia's invasion had nothing to do with the US ??
Don't get me wrong ... as Indonesian, I always love and support TimLes dearly ...
just let the past be remembered as history - learn the lesson without pointing out one to another
Say it Louderrrrr .. you speak for me too
You are really naive lol..

Secondly ... Suharto didn't have intention whatsoever to control TimLes if it's not bc of US - Suharto just wanted to protect Indonesia's territory bc TimLes and NTT is only bordered by hills - and for that reason, obviously Indonesian military had to face the Fretilin army forces ...
and I said FRETILIN not the Timorese - you have to see the difference between Timorese vs Fretilin - Timorese are common people, of course they knew nothing about politic, let alone Communism, Liberism, etc
If it wasn't Indonesia who invaded TimLes ... US and AUS would be the ones who did that - and there's a big chance they would build military bases there.
Exactly the same reason why Putin invaded Ukraine, which is to protect Rusia's territory from NATO building military bases in Ukraine ...
Do you think Putin is hunger for territory too ?? just like how you accused Suharto ?? that's naive bro bc everybody knows it's called military strategy ... "before ure enemy attacks, you gotta attack first"
What ?? ... do you think Fretilin (in the name of TimLes) were that strong that could be independent as a free nation if Suharto didn't invade ??
No way US would let TimLes go ... look at the Philippines for example, and see how US had built military bases there.
Do you think TimLes could defend themself from war againts US - like Vietnam did ??
NO WAY ...
TimLes would definitely be "destroyed" by US's military in a sec ... and the land would be fully controlled by US >>> this's what Suharto didn't want, so he invaded TimLes instead (after Australia sugested him too)
You gotta see my friend, there's a reson why Indonesia is the only country in (Southeast Asia) archipelago that joined the non-aligned movement ... why ?? because Indonesia could stay neutral in Cold War, while other countries couldn't - and that's a threat for US
Look at the main reason British formed FPDA with Australia, Malaysia and Singapore ...

If Timor Leste is more Oceania, why they want to join ASEAN, which is a Southeast Asian organization. Australia go tell Timor Leste not to join ASEAN, they'll just be a burden, and if they go bankrupt, ASEAN will have to help them. Australia has it easy, they took Timor Leste's oil and ran away 🤣
And, actually, for some of that problem is still happening in this country

The Pope should go visit Taiwan 🇹🇼 for the Taiwanese Catholic community.
Taiwanese are lining up to see the Papa there.
Roman pope dare not even make a stand for Taiwan. 😅

The real Truth does not need to prove and protect itself. The real Truth does not pretend to be "right". The real Truth is incompatible with arrogance, intolerance, hostilities and violence. There is no need to 'defend' your truth and faith, but essential to be faithful yourself and live accordingly.
I am very happy that current Pope Francis' pilgrimage started from spreading such an important message.
Faithfully your, bishop Vincent Berg.
Why people differentiate Catholic and Christianity, Catholic is Christianity.
Untuk Timor leste :
Di garap saja "nostalgic tourism"
Karena pasarnya ada dari turis indonesia.
Contoh gedung SMA 1 , SMP 1&2 itu digarap jadi tempat kunjungan turis misal di hari minggu.
Sangat disayangkan Kalau turis indonesia yg mau nostalgia kesana di cuekin
🙏🙏🙏
Paus membantu umat di dunia tdk pandang agama
Helo from Timor Leste !❤🇹🇱
The Temorist young activist talks about Pope's intentions as if he contributed a lot to his country as what Pope did in Argentina's poorest of the poor neighborhood in early years of Pope's life.
I ask him to compare what he have done to what Bergoglio the Pope contribute to his local community not to mention the world.
Sana yung kababayan kung may kaya na nag totour sa iabang bansa, consider Timor Leste as your bucketlist pa naman ma boost ang economy nila, yung pumupunta sa Bali punta din kayo doon.
May God bless your country, mmmmm Timor Leste for the first time to hear about it
About 28:00 the tolerance in my beloved country Indonesia:

Welcome to Timor Leste pope Francisco ❤🙏
Welcome to Timor Leste pope Francis 🤗
there should be sub-title or voice over in tetum
Please don't put words into the Pope's mouth! 🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀Please understand what he truly meant - he simply said not to criminalize homosexuals, for that matter the Christian faith does not allow us to condemn anyone but to forgive anyone who hurts us, pray for their conversion, and love everyone as we are all children of God. Hate the sin, not the sinner - that is the message! And for the record, the Pope does not come up with anything due to his own wish or desire.
I 100 % agree as i always do eversince in various vlogs and fb posts
Was Indonesia once a fluorishing buddhist nation?
True and polute by portugeese & dutch colonialisme. Infiltrating terorist from middle east and occupied the resources
Indonesia was once a flourishing many religions nation
For 12 yrs not even 60 people was able to sign for a parish to be built? That's sad. We need to pray so more churches will be built in other areas and stop overcrowding in one church. 🙏
Minute 36 : “ Let’s hope we can move from religious tolerance to religious engagement.Where we take other religions truly as a gift from God and not as a threat to my privileges in the community .
The #Philippines must buy oil and petroleum products from Timor Leste.
In return, Timor Leste should collaborate with the Philippines to:
1. Develop plantations for more crop grownth and even export.
2. Seek investment to have Supermarkets such as SM, Robinson, Gaisano, NCCC and Central Warehouse or Pure Gold.
3. Mining operations.
Timor Leste's Catholic Church can learn from the Philippines'
Ateneo Universities, Notre Dame Universities, Holy Cross Colleges, Dominican Unis and colleges like UST, and Dela Salle.
The Philippines' Catholic Universities and Colleges are some of Largest and Best in the Country.
Timor Leste's Catholic Church and Government can learn from the Philippines' past hardships and current economic developments, and robust economy.
Believe me dear Timorese brothers and sisters, the Philippines was like in your situation way back in 70s and 80s.
The Philippines was overtaken by both Indonesia and Vietnam in economic terms during the Duterte regime. Isn't this enough proof that extractivist and exploitative neoliberal economic policies are indeed very damaging? Timor Leste can learn from the Philippines to avoid becoming like the Philippines.
@@arfmendel1 You are somehow misinformed about Duterte and liberalism. Because they definitely oppose each other.
@@arfmendel1 However, in the Philippines liberalism and communism are somehow synonymous. They have more common things than conflict.

Singapore can help Timor Leste by contributing expertise in urban development and public housing that is organized and comfortable. also contribute expertise in public transport network planning. in addition, Singapore can provide job opportunities in sectors that require labor such as the construction sector and domestic workers
In addition, Singapore can also work with Timor Leste in the engineering sector to explore the oil and gas sector such as petroleum exploration
Can can can
East timor clearly not appealing enough for Singapore goverment, at least for now..
Nah less profitable compared to investing in its neighbour lol
❤❤ Good idea!
Policies plus lots of things must be in place.
But remember. We have Portuguese points of views that the design would be different. It depends on who is leading and the current situation is not quite possible to address your points and my concerns.
♥️♥️
Singapore should also stop blocking the Timorese bid for accession to ASEAN.

Timor-Leste is one of the poorest country in the world.
All Pope Francis has to do is to ask Catholics to support development and the visit will easily pay for itself.
We have to accept that not all can be Rich and not all can be poor. The both co exist and there is no problem with that , unless we see it as an issue. Both has its role. To be of service of each other. Imagine when we all are rich , nobody will collect your garbage and soon on!
Ga boleh gitu dong! Itu tidak adil bagi seluruh rakyat Indonesia.
37:38 , false. Do not twist his words. Although I am part of the community, same sex couples cannot be blessed as it is against the teachings. However, individuals in a same sex relationship can be blessed. Because blessings are made for everyone. It should be inclusive. Hope this clears up the confusion :)
Thank you for pointing this out. The media especially completely turned the truth behind the blessings upside down.
Timor Leste❤️🇹🇱
Portuguese Timor....
They are the poorest country in Asia..but their passport one of the strongest compare to Indonesian passport 😅😅how ironic😅
Timor Leste is a province
The pope didn't bless the same sex couple reletionship but bless the couple individually...
The best
Some of comentator, provide their coments without fundaments knowlege,, the expenditure of the budget to build the Saint Altar in Tasi 3, rally reflect to the percentage of Chatolic religion in Timor-Leste, it's normal.
Amin Tuhan memberkati Timur Leste

timor leste still use US dollar until now, it's make local product very expensive in market but if they make their own currency, who will keep their currency, they don't have oil to backup, great industry to backup, i don't know and i don't care btw greeting from indonesia
LGBT bukan suatu kriminalitas jadi mereka bukan penjahat. Saya sendiri ga mendukung hal tsb tapis Aya ga mendukung jg perbuatan yg main hakim sendiri utk mereka yg orientasi seksual berbeda
