Crazy day for sure.
Shout out the BSF recovery team!
They are the best paramedics in the business.
@@thelonerizla1I don’t think this was Matt’s event…I suspect this was a Trail Hero event.
@@dwaynepenner2788I stand corrected , just read bleepinjeeps comment elsewhere. I'll remove the comment. Thanks for the info 👍🏻
@offroadrecoveryteam were the absolute stars this day. They jumped in and handled things so well in an emergency situation. Suzanne was amazing in her positive attitude in a horrible scenario as well.
Matt so glad to hear she is still doing well. This was for sure one of the worst rollovers I have ever been apart of. All of us @bsfrecoveryteam wish Susan and family the best.
Thank you guys so much for handling the medical side of this so effortlessly. I can't handle those situations well.
So never go off roading with a fiberglass top is what I've learned
If you’re gonna you better have a good roll bar
@spencebrooks7187, you should always offroad with adequate roll cages. Always. If you have a chance of rolling, even with a vehicle that doesn't have a removable top... that roof almost always crushes like a tin can.
@@EyebrowsMahoney You're tellin the truth. Doesn't matter what the roof is made of, a roll like that is doing a number on it.
No if you do go rock crawling, have a roll cage.
@EyebrowsMahoney depends on the off roading, if you are overlanding and doing mild obstacles then I wouldn't get a cage
Susan sounds like one heck of a person. Glad she’s ok. The off road/wheeling community is better than any other community. Keep up the content.
Soon as I heard one arm and stick and rocks I knew this wasn’t gonna end well
An example of why communication is important and being explicit when a guide.
Dont say 'recommend you dont' or 'if not comfortable'
You say, need x build and y experience. This is what is on the section.
Yah bud this is America it's not his life he's putting at risk not his decision let people push themselves to grow their abilities. Just like smoking or drinking it's horrible for you but should the government be able to tell you you can't do it?
@@zacharywiggins3768 If they are organizers and acting as a guide, then they take on liability.
It also isnt just them. Somebody drunk or gets stoned in their house vs doing it while behind the wheel for example. The law is less about protecting them, more about protecting those around then.
Is like what I say as a rider who sees other motorcyclists being stupid. I dont care what they do. They go and kill themselves, is their choice. But they decide to wipe out and put themselves under the wheels of a semi on the highway? Semi driver has to live with those memories and if rider lives, everybody else has to deal with taking care of em for rest of their life.
So yeah, tell them no because were a lot of other trail users who had their day ruined because organizers didnt ensure proper responsibility.
Go to a track day. Cars are checked. If not suitable for track? They wont let you on. Miss drivers session? Too bad. Come back next time.
Here's wishing Suzanne all the best. What a harrowing tale. What a trooper.
We definitely need Susan on the show!
Yes, she's a hoot!
Agreed wow what a soldier.
I always have to wonder when I hear stories like this... her one good arm... WHY?! So sad, glad to hear she isn't quitting.
I’m thinking virtual off-roading might be a better idea for her
No, that isnt the answer. What is best is to consider strengths and weaknesses and build accordingly. Showing off and safe rarely go together. Unfortunately the trail guides responsible for this group let a person put themselves into a situation.
A steep climb on a short wheelbase jeep not configured for if things go bad is not on her, it is on the guides.
Glad she's alright and recovering thanks to the efforts of everyone there that day. Hopefully she can and will come on when she's ready to tell her story.
Glad she's alright!
I'm watching this video while listening to "She's Nubs" by NOFX in the background
Good to see bleepin Matt on here again!
Having the presence of mind to throw it in reverse and hit the gas when the front end starts lifting is already asking a lot of the average wheeler. To manage that with an H pattern shifter adds another level of complexity. To pull it off with one arm would probably require hours of practicing for that specific situation. There's just too many things to manage and they all have to go just right to save it.
I'm glad she survived. I hope she learned some lessons, but I'm glad she's rebuilding her rig and getting back out there too. I don't know what her build was before, but she needs a doubler with some super low gearing. She should not have to even think about the clutch once she's rolling.
Love Matts of road recovery
TIL, listen to the guide when he tells you to take the alternate route!
The guide should have put a stop it. Why would you let people risk rolling 3 times down a cliff after you had already seen them having trouble earlier?
He sounds like a bad guide
Everyone should be able to make adult decisions and not have someone to take care of what they do
Some of us prefer to 'get back on the horse', rather than let the horse win!
@@MaverickHistorian you are so vey wrong. The individual Susan made her own choice to follow Matt. He announced for the less experienced people and non built vehicles to go to the right. Being a free country you can not make a person do something that they do not want to do, but people do stupid things and they unfortunately win stupid awards. If you are given an option to do this or that and you chose the wrong one then you only have yourself to blame.
@@toddhoffmaster6057 correct, we are guides, not the gestapo
What a trooper! I can say daily trying a 6 speed town or like he said on the high way with one arm can be hard. I can’t barely take a drink if i’m in town.
Love see the offroading crowd grow, my backyard here in Utah is beautiful and dangerous, need a lot of experience to rock crawl, or in my case be born into it, 86 samurai guy, see y’all out there
She actually rolled one time before this on the same trail/day. Got her back on her wheels and then this happened a few hours later.
In road racing part of our safety equipment we have are arm arresters.
They keep our arms and hands from flailing around if we roll or lose control.
RaceQuip.
Make an off-road version.
100%
Loses an arm, decides to impress people by driving stick and having her hands off the wheel every time she needs to shift gears. Is told "this next one is difficult, not for beginners", drives straight into that. Now that she lost the use of her thumb too, she's going to be rebuilding a car, using powertools... I feel like I know exactly how she lost an arm in the first place, and exactly how her life will go on in the future.
Exactly what I was thinking the entire time lol
If only she focused on being feminine, she wouldn't have any of these problems. I blame her husband really. Was he wearing a dress while holding that camera? Probably
What came to mind was that reporter played by Luke Wilson in Anchorman
Natures way of telling you that you need to go to common sense school and try a different sport or at the very least BUY AN AUTOMATIC FOR GODS SAKE…..
@@noonehere1793 Interesting, and likely true. My takeaway is "You can go past your limits, but you must do so with care and acknowledgement to raise them above what they were, not with reckless bravado to impress people around you"
Soon as I heard fiberglass roof it was an "Oh shit" cringed moment.
I’d love to see MORR tell some stories on here love his channel
yes, matt is back !
The jeep was screaming stop 🛑
Oh no Bridgestone is a sponsor? Lol their MT3s AT3s and revo3s are amazing tires!
Wish I could say I'm impressed but trying to offroad with a manual with only one arm is just an inherent safety hazard. Driving a manual on the road with one arm is bad enough.
She is awsome. I was born with one and a hook. So I want to commend her on that attitude. Because that's what gets you anywhere You want to go or do. If you can't laugh it off it will crush you. Bravo. Keep crushing it
She needs a long wheelbase and a roll cage. Probably some driving lessons too…
Incredibly lucky. You can bleed out so quickly from an arm gash like that. Great story.
Just build something like Roxdawg Abnormal. That rig will do damn near anything.
The TJ model is just too short and unstable to compete in steep climbs like that. I know, I have wheeled mine for 20 years. Even a 4” lift on 35’s is sketchy. The XJ’s have a longer wheelbase and lower center of gravity. If you want the traditional Jeep look, start with the longer wheelbase LJ. I wish I had bought an LJ instead, but I didn’t know better at the time.
6:40 When you say it had a fibreglass top, and that it shattered...did it also have a steel structure in addition to that? That's kind of essential information, as the difference between rolling a Jeep with absolutely no structure above you and one with a roll bar is very different.
The note of the fiberglass roof was to add context to where the fiberglass shard that went through her arm came from not about the roll.
All jeep wranglers come factory with a roll bar and a soft top or fiberglass hard top over that. Luckily she also had an aftermarket offroad roll cage.
@@bleepinjeep Ok, thanks for the info! 👍
Hell yea matt!!!!!
Yet I still want an off road rig...
Sometimes you've got to realize your limitations and just accept them.
After my 2nd speed contest and reckless driving ticket I got out of street cars and crotch rockets and got into 4x4 off roading only to realize it's just as expensive and you can get tickets while in the middle of a dense Indiana forest lmao good news is I'm able to get my license back in 2025
Call Ed Bolian he’ll want you to tell your story on vinwiki!
Ahhh, snap
God damn suzzy... you my lady are an absolute beast, a viking woman... keep after it.
I think in her case, I would definitely recommend going with an automatic transmission now.
yeah for sure, but try telling her? why would you even consider a stick shift if you only have one good arm
Oh don’t think she will be using a fiberglass top again
this reminds me of that story about someone who has died asking the lord why he sent no signs, only for him to point out all the signs he sent
Please, everyone beg Suzanne to put an automatic transmission in her Jeep when she repairs it.
And a soft top.
If susan is not the next video i dont wanna see it!
“All arms matter”
Gobless
I drive stick with one hand everyday I jam my stub in the wheel and just reach over
Fab Rats were good on not competing. Insurance liability is the worst.
I think this was Trail Hero not a MORR event.
Wrong event lol
I rolled a Hummer H1 all the way over (onto the wheels) and drove out of it and kept wheeling.
Video is on UA-cam. Orange bottom.
Why it’s called a roll bar even for war. 😢❤
I'm Nice Because I'm Savage AF!
This happened sometime in 2023, right? Or did it just seem like a while back?
it was years ago
Please someone get her an auto transmission or triple cases so she has better control
Dude she's a fucking legend
I would've thought that a woman would be wary of something called "Sand Hollow" probably going to be painful...
Some people...
No thank you....
It felt as though the guy was setting us up to feel sorry for the chick, but all I feel is utter contempt for her complete stupidity.
Lot of people had to risk their lives for that person, who was way beyond their skill level.
So when your touring off road, make sure you have a trained medic with you.... kinda makes sense to me........
this dudes voice/delivery literally put me to sleep lmao
Admire the want to do. But somethings just arent meant for some folks. A person without legs probably shouldnt run track. A person without arms probably shouldnt play basketball. Yes you CAN with help but sometimes its a know your limits..
If that don’t tell you to quit idk what will
Good for her. Go live your life. You only get one ride on this marble.
What a horrible story! Been following Matt for a long time, found this channel from the Off Road Games. Video's are misleading, the trails are much steeper than they appear. Had to laugh at Matt's last vid - If you own a SXS stay on the golf course....
Please please please do not let her keep doing the manual on the rebuild. Any kind of driving where you are forced to take both hands off the steering wheel is just stupid.
Sand Hollow is 15 minutes away from St George, not "an hour out into the desert"...🤥
Tell me you don't have active listening skills..
This was the ledges trail.
Hour out is accurate.
No emt in your group? That’s bordering on negligent .. just sayin’ ..
well I've been wheeling trails like this without one for 20 years....
I told that sorry felon Matt, he was going to get somebody hurt. That's 2 years in a row for a helicopter recovery. Last year, a member of the crew died, and this year, an amputee lost partial function of her only remaining hand. Events should be made for sponsored professionals, not the general public who doesn't know their limitations or skill level.
This didn’t happen at a MORR event, there are other annual events at Sand Hollow. And it didn’t happen this year, several surgeries to rebuilding the jeep in less than 6 weeks doesn’t fit the time line. Not to mention MORR Didn’t provide guided trail rides at either of the events they have hosted, Mad Moose tours did. And the fellow who passed last year had a cardiac event while working security, hardly an event related injury. But feel free to slander away.
Maybe you should get your facts straight before you go bad mouthing and making yourself look like a fool.
you are clueless...
People act like crawling isint in slow motion it’s not that hard
bet you don't even wheel lmao
Next time someone needs to be around and speak up and say this is not a good idea🤣 I don’t understand why people that are handicap have a fetish of proving they can to task people that aren’t handicap can do
That voice.
These guy telling a story is like watching paint dry…
Gotta drag it out for the time man
not wearing a helmet in places like that is foolhardy.
This guy sounds like he flipped over a few too many times
She tried to thumb her way home that day. Things didn't work out so well lol.
Boring
Matt at Matt's Offroad Recovery does some seriously sketchy stuff, things that are incredibly dangerous and downright stupid at time. Sending out someone from the other side of the country to "guide" a trail he's never driven has to be near the top of the list. Trail guides are supposed to know the trail and spend time pre-running it to know all the bypasses and the navigation. Sorry to his fans, but Matt is a clown; if you want a recovery by WOT and a snatch strap, he's the guy to call.
This wasn't even a matts offroad event, stop trying to act like you know him or anything about it 😂
@@bleepinjeep I don't know him and I don't care to, he's a known fraudster for one thing. I was hopeful about his channel when he first started, but around the time he nearly pulled a vehicle over his own dog I had to admit he's dangerous.
@@BlindIo42 What fraud has he committed? I was unaware.
@@BlindIo42 you have no idea what you are talking about 🤡🤡
i remember watching that video she was cool as a cucumber and did keep apologizing
