Ich bin seit drei Monaten damit in der Findungsphase. Hatte zuerst ein Tern was zwar vom Preis her interessant ist, aber vom Gewicht und Handling negativ ist. Das gilt auch für das Birdy! Ich bin nun bei Brompton Electric hängen geblieben welches viele Vorteile hat, aber auch ein paar Nachteile! Die Nachteile sind aber eher vernachlässigbar. Die Tage meine erste ICE Reise mit ihm unternommen, vorher ein paar mit Tern! Trotz E sehr entspannt und sogar noch den Akku auf DB Kosten geladen 😁😏

Bromptons have roller wheels but can weigh as little as @ 20 lbs so you can carry them or roll them when folded; they will also fit in the overhead bin on most airliners when folded. Brompton is also a mature, well sorted brand that goes to extremes to get the bike right and offers many accessories. They are custom built to order, made in London and can be ordered in hundreds of color combinations. The Birdy is a great, full suspension folding bike. The bike is a German brand that's made in Taiwan to a high quality standard. It comes in several models with different wheel sizes and drive trains. When folded, the Birdy takes up more space than a Brompton. Only the Birdy models with the smallest wheel size may fit in the overhead bin; however, even those are larger than a Brompton when folded. The Birdy must be folded in a specific pattern. Folding it improperly can damage the bike. The Montague is a full size bike that folds. Designed originally for the military, it's both rugged and sturdy. As with the Birdy, the top tube has no hinge. The Montague comes as a hard tail mountain bike or road bike. To fold the Montague to a reasonably small size, you must remove the front wheel. Unlike the Brompton or Birdy, the Montague has no roller wheels so the bike must be carried when folded and this can be cumbersome. Also, derailleurs are exposed when the bike is folded and can be damaged if handled improperly. The Montague can be fitted with a special rear rack that will rotate 180 degrees to become a display or work stand. There are a variety of electric folding bikes on the market. Most weigh 36-50 lbs and do not roll when folded, making them impractical to carry. The purpose of folding these bikes is for storage in a car boot or RV or other circumstances where storage space is restricted. The above is not a literal translation.
