    Hi ALTER community!
Alex and Bryce here, the directors of Carrie's Doing Great. Thank you so much for watching our film. We hoped you liked it and enjoyed the wild ride.
We would love to answer any questions you have about the film. No matter what it is, just comment below and we'll get back to you!
This is our first short writing and directing together and it was so much fun to make. We were lucky enough to work with an amazing cast and crew that helped bring this little film to life.

How did y'all come up with the idea?
      How was the cast picked?
Was it fun making the film?
Thanks for the great horror short. It really shocked me at the last part. I honestly thought that Carrie was going to finish her dream. ☺

      Hi @@esahcaeeneiradgbo2464!
      - The initial idea came when we were brainstorming ideas for a small series of films and one of us imagined the scene at the mailbox where the mob is shouting "Jake, Jake, Jake". The idea being how creepy and in a way funny it would be to see a mob of people celebrating the mundane like we do our sports stars.
      - Funnily enough initially Carrie was going to be a guy (Gary) but we worked with Lauren on a music video and she was just such a great fit for the role we decided to work on the script with her and we think it was the best choice as she was amazing to work with and really became the character!
      - And it was great fun to make the film! As with all films there were highs and lows but in the end we're super excited to share our film to everyone.
      - And thank you for watching! We're really glad you enjoyed it :)

Capitalism brainwash people into thinking that studying hard or working hard will always be rewarded. When in reality, it's a handful of wealthy that are diriging our lives, and we are the slaves of their perfect pyramidal system. At least, on the paper, communism is meant to make all men and women equally wealthy. But as everything potentially good, humans just f*cked it up and made dictatorships out of a dream of equality. Not saying that communism is the answer, but a bit more of equality and support between citizens wouldn't hurt in our self-centered western societies.

Great work! Perfectly showed the stigma artists go through in the society, where people, especially family members, look at their passion as something impractical & not a real job. Also showed how parents shutter their children's dreams to mold them into something they don't want to be just so they could show them off to other people.

I admit, my sisters and mother tried this to me a lot of times, forcing me to take jobs being offered, jobs I don’t even like. They’re all ashamed of me that time because I’m taking college too long and they felt I am hopeless to graduate so mom started to say that before it’s too late, I should quit because they already spent too much for my tuition fees but the truth is, I lost motivation because it’s difficult getting money from them until they finally were fed up and forced me to quit school and get a job. What I did was, in order to afford tuition, I entered scholarship by working in the university, quit the job after a year to focus on my business and I graduated. They’re all proud of me now except mom. Pandemic stopped her to see me and my success. Wish me luck to convince her that being an entrepreneur is still a worth paying job.

This is by far one of the most relatable horror films I've seen. It is very common for creative people to be faced with a lack of support from family and those around them, especially if the career they are working towards does not provide immediate financial reward. Carrie's life itself was like a game. It was the equivalent of being stuck on one level and not being able to progress to the next. This was well-written. Good job 👍🏾

I love how it started off with a things are off kilter vibe. This balanced out the what is going on with Carrie moments of what's real and what's not.
The working axdream versus taking a job angle was also very well done giving the viewer a reality angle.
Then the way this film went to creepy and down right insudious was nicely crafted.
This looked like a lot of fun to make and is successful in delivering the horror.

I like Alter short films because they have stories to them, they're not just horrors with jump scares at the end. They manage to portray characters that are interesting and you root for them, they have a storyline, and they don't always end up with some demon jump scare at the end. I like how they often leave things up to your imagination. All within less than 20 minutes (usually). Many modern horror films can't manage that in 90 minutes, so it's brilliant Alter can do it in less time.

the sound is very good. really makes the tone of the movie.
On the surface it seems teenager who is full of dream is being punished by society members even by her parents.
However, my theory is slightly different.
Carrie has two roles. Outside role, Inside role.
In the beginning outside Carrie is programming a game. The Game has an important meaning. The Game means their lives, our lives, our society, our world. Outside Carrie is trying to create a game(= computer program which should be working almost perfect). However she made a mistake in somewhere she dont know anything about. She knows she made an error in somewhere because she is seeing the game from outside.
Now after her wakeup it is inside Carrie. Because you are inside, you can't know the error. That is why the game seems working fine when she and Jake are sitting together. However, inside Carrie end up being punished by some error made by Outside Carrie.
Carrie inside or outside means us. We are being punished or slaved by our own mistake. That is the message I understood.

This was an incredible short but ultimately I can't say I liked it because of how much it viscerally affected me as a former artist who's had to adapt to a "regular" job stuck in his hometown 😂😅 GREAT film though, loved the acting and the production!

Honestly I can't blame the parents. Following your dream is awesome, but to be fair you should ALSO be making money on the side. You can't expect your family to pay for your roof, clothes, food, bills indefinitely. I don't have kids but I understand how it can be scary and frustrating as a parent. Show them that you can take care of yourself by getting a job to make some money until you can achieve your goal. But yeah I also understand that -I've been through it. You don't wanna feed the system by killing yourdself in a meaningless job for peanuts. It's so difficult

Agree. Have some friends who "would like to live for their dream" while their families are working hard to buy these "dreamers" all they need.

Disturbing, Wild & brutal ... this was just brilliant ... in cinematography, script and acting. Agree with below comments on artism and non conformity. Proud this was an Australian production.
