- 1949 Packard Custom Eight. All original survivor that I got back in 2007. This was a one owner car bought new at N.A.Armour Packard on 6/24/1949. It was used until 1961 when the original owner bought a new Cadillac Fleetwood. It sat in the garage completely untouched from 1961 till her death in 2005. It was kept in storage until I acquired it in June 2007. It's been on the road since late 2008 after an extensive going over. All original paint, interior etc..
Powered by a 356 9 main bearing engine and manual overdrive transmission.
Thanks for watching and enjoy.
My grandpa had a 55 but I've always liked the 51-54s. My appreciation for the for the 48-50s is growing and yours is a great example of an original. Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching.
@@gregdelagrange8573 maybe I’ll have to venture one state over from here in NWPA and see your Packard in person at a car show some day. Until then, thanks again for the tour.
Wow! SMFH 🤯🤯🤯 That's Simply Awesome Stuff Man! Thanks for Sharing this with us, and what a Beautiful Survivor Vehicle Period! Once in a lifetime time for the average Joe, so consider yourself extremely lucky to be the temporary holder of such a mint specimen that's not been restored or butchered up yet!!!
Thanks!
Superb!
Sweet running motor as well!
Thank you!
It's wonderful to see an original. Yours is in such good shape. I have an original '53 Clipper DeLuxe, 327ci 3+OD. It's not as good as yours, but still presentable. I take it to club outings, and every other week at least just to a park or to the store. It beings me joy. People smile and wave.
I don’t have to “ask the man who owns one”, he showed me. Lol
Your video makes me want this car.
Thank you very much.
@@gregdelagrange8573 My pleasure.
Thank you for the Packard tour. Very nice, and love it!
You're welcome.
Excellent camera work. Great insight with detail.
Thank you very much!
I think it's a' 1948 custom super 8 with a' 356 cui. 8 very nice
Thanks. It is a Custom Eight with the 356 9 main bearing engine.
Forget restoration, this car needs nothing. Drive it as is.
Thank you. That's exactly how I feel about it as well. 😀
@@gregdelagrange8573 People didn't have to drive such large distances to work and back in those days and thus there are still a good number of low mileage originals around. Oh--I commented on FB too, great video. I'm a huge straight 8 fan of any make but especially Buicks.
@@muffs55mercury61 I also have a few more videos on my UA-cam channel including one with a POV driving it as well as my other cars too. Feel free to check them out .
InstaBlaster.
nice
Thanks.
👌👌👌👌🔥👍👏
Does your Electromatic Clutch work?
Unfortunately no. Most of the vacuum components are leaking and I've disconnected the system.
Does the gas tank whistle work? A great treasure.
Yes the gas tank whistle still works.
When I was a little kid, I thought all cars had gas tank whistles. My grandpa, two uncles and my godfather, all drove Chevrolets with them. My father had a Packard. My godmother worked for a dealer that sold both and my uncle and my father worked for Fisher Body.@@gregdelagrange8573
What color? I have trouble seeing color. Blue, grey?
It is black and has a light tan interior.
Did you get to see the Fleetwood she replaced this car with? Do you know if she had a driver for the Packard and the Fleetwood?
I didn't see the Fleetwood. I do know that it unfortunately was left outside and rusted away in the driveway after she gave up driving.
As far as I know she drove herself.
