In this episode we're talking about our reactions to the new Season of the Chosen in Destiny 2! We'll be going over it's strengths and weaknesses, the new character Caiatl and her lore backstory, the crow's redemption arc, the new loot rewards and exotics, stasis in crucible, the leveling system, sunsetting problems and even more!

Please check the season announcement trailer. Caitl literally slices her hand with a knife in what appears to be a blood oath with Zavala and Crow present. Bungie attempts to throw us off by playing a voice line about "her sharpening her gilded knife", over this scene, but in reality this will be at the end of the season when she pledges herself as an ally to the tower.
Its not just the trailer, the intro cutscene she says "then ill sharpen my guilded knife and see you both on the battlefield"
battlegrounds will be around past the season, it's quests don't expire till season 15

for what it's worth, the void orbs that Ruinous Effigy makes works with the new warlock chest piece, so you can get super energy with the spheres and then once your super is full you get bonus damage after every kill, it's really fun so far.

In terms of lore, it kinda makes sense that not everyone in the universe would believe the hype around the guardians. Cabal have ruled galaxies for millions of years, and we've managed to do some insane things in a handful. It's like a blink for their empire, so its understandable that they either don't believe it or haven't heard yet.
It would make sense if we didnt also have lore of the Cabal troops sending word of our exploits to their home world throughout D1. The Cabal empire (at least the higher ups) should be well aware of what we're capable of and the attitude we have about it. The Cabal forces on Mars were terrified of us because they'd watch us wipe out an entire platoon and start dancing on their corpses or doing flippy tricks on our hover bikes. It makes sense that they wouldn't back down because that's just how the Cabal are, but they know the stories are true.
If only someone would just make an animated series... Destiny Legends.
I mean they have seasons worth of content packed with characters we know all about but have never seen or heard. Bungie should be all about that, just saying
Right I'm not the only one I see that has been saying this like I wish they made a movie series from the first game release in 2014 to now with everything from the game story and the lores all put together in order but ya I would be one of the first to buy this
Funny that you should mention that there should be an animated series since they just announced plans for expanding destiny into other forms of media.

Yeah we are so strong I’ve been saying let’s get more enemies in everything in the game. Like a Diablo map just waves and mobs out the ass. It would be much more fun all these explodey perks and fighting teammates for enemies... let’s get that now it seems they’re going that way. The devils Lair just has so many enemies it’s great
When you think about it, Devil’s Lair main shtick is a wave defense area and an open clear all enemies area. Compared to D2 strikes, this strike is very simple and straightforward in terms of mechanics if there is any. So Bungie realized this and upped than density of enemies to make it more intense and its a pretty great strike again.
imagine the last mission of the season we fight caiatl and instead of killing her we say “bow” and make caiatl join us and we rule them
And then calus shows up at the end of the season to all team up ready to fight the darkness

Polar opposite of Devrim Kay's voice actor he sounds exactly the same as Balthier from Ff12.
I don't know why this did not occur to me before, but Unknown Player sounds a bit like Richard Ayoade.

What happened to the Cabal homeworld is in the new Empress lore book.
No spoilers but explains why she is here and why they want to ally with Guardians.
From what I've gathered, the Cabal homeworld (Torobatl) has been ravaged by either Savathun or Xivu Arath and might have met a similar fate to what Mars and our other lost worlds did. At the moment, the Cabal are in a similar position to the Eliksni after they lost Riis in the Whirlwind but also in our same position, reeling after the Darkness' arrival.

@@cityguard4847 I don't think Torobatl would have been a place we would visit if not for a while. Its far outside our solar system beyond humanity's reach. I like the direction that the story is going at the moment.

Mine has always been the sidearms of the season until dead man's tale. That gun is just so rewarding to use and does amazing damage with enough practice.

What's wild, its regardless how technically bland battlegrounds is on paper, it's a damn blast to play over and over--unlike *_cough_* wrathborn *_cough cough_*
Three weeks later and I have no interest in battlegrounds aside from the story moments

I feel like Crow is going to be the thing that was missing from last year something linking the seasons together. Last year we went from vex to saint to almighty to pyramids. at least year 2 of d2 was a year of doubt of hey the risen where aholes before and drifter is right about the light and Calus is like here is loot.
with last season being the introduction
this season being him becoming known
next season him being accepted
last season is about him gaining his role
Wow. That's cool, I didn't know that about the scene with Nolan acting like the drifter.
One of the few things I do like more about D2 is that the enemies are more complicated. We’re getting the house of light, and more complicated characters that aren’t necessarily just “bad guys.”
I hope this season alliance with the cabal next season house light Mithrax and house light deserves to have a season atleast
Calling the new titan exotic the titan version of Nighthawk is so accurate

How cool would it be if we got a Fallen Civil War between what remains of Dusk who are those new Fallen that are just doing stuff, a renewed House Devils which would also explain the returning strikes and who want to bring back the old ways cuz they're boomers (maybe some of Salvation split off and headed back to the Cosmodrome?), House Salvation who are leaderless and maybe are now like a Stasis cult, and finally House Light who are just straight up good guys. That would easily make a unique story experience and maybe even have some cool gameplay elements.
What if Crow is an ultimate ploy by Savathuun?? What if she was able to resurrect Uldren and make it appear that he’s been reborn as a guardian. His personality may be genuine, but he may not even realize that the Traveller didn’t bring him back, but Savathuun did.
What if the entire Uldren or Crow conflict makes us tear each other apart over this character, that we become separated, broken, and in shambles so that we as a whole are vulnerable and susceptible to one fell swoop of an attack from Savathuun.
The Spinfoil Hat is on and fits real well.

Sunsetting! I see it as a way of changing out the perk pools. Some of the OP weapons had certain perks that they are wishing to change out. I do not have the full research in front of me, but suffice to say certain perks are attributed to the OP weapon. Bungie stated themselves that some perks were not getting the attention that should have been given.

Making a prediction here, the story of this seasson is leading to us becoming allies with Caiatl and the remains of the red legion possibly taking up the darkness in revenge for the Red War it just seems like the logical progression of the Red Legion's story.

but we have elemental wells being implemented now as well...
I wish this came out just a few days to a week later so they could talk about the exotic quest that just came out.

1:12:00 Remember in D1 how most perks we wanted were not always damage boosts, but rather to make the weapons FEEL better. Like stability on Pulse Rifles or Machine Guns to deal more damage by skill not bigger numbers.
Ahhh, the good times where we could have reloads that were 10 frames long.
Dunno about you, but i FEEL veryy good when my gun does a lot of damage.

In the sense of the roles of multiple characters like amanda, saladin, crow etc, in paper, its pretty cool indeed, but the problem is that we don't actually see paladin at the frontline, we never see amanda flying, dodging missiles idk,its always better to show than to say, if yu say that amanda is there with yu providing air support, it doens't feel the same as you see her blow up three centurions or put down a threser or somethin

Yes! They need MegaMan style weapons. Much like how in forsaken had a MegaMan style bosses with the barons, they should have dropped guns that were more effective against the other bosses (but could still be killed via bullet sponge if desired).
I was super lucky and my first trip into DSC and Eyes of Tomorrow dropped for me. My clan is super jealous.

I believe Calus is dead because in the new Dead Man’s tale mission, there’s a possibility to hear Calus’ voice. In that mission you hear voices of dead people, like Cayde or Uldren, and you can hear Calus, so I believe he is dead.
You can also hear Osiris though. At least I have while running it. I would have dismissed it, but it happened during the part where I had heard Cayde before.
I wish bungie would make a weapon like they have in doom where it’s like an auto rifle that shoots orbs of energy that don’t travel as fast as bullets but it’s awesome. I feel like they could do some awesome stuff with a weapon like that. Maybe it shoots faster but the plasma orbs are smaller and then one that shoots slower with a bigger orb that might do splash damage.

Just an idea, but what if a way to fix sunsetting weapons is if you have a weapon that is getting sunset and lets say its a god roll and you really like it. WHAT IF you had a certain number of kills on the masterwork (like 5k) and you could then trade that gun in for a weapon with the exact same roll. Or maybe just bump its power cap. ( just an idea)

In response to the uneasiness of accepting the Cabal as an allied race, especially with Ghaul, This year has already begun with a lot of forgiveness for past transgressions. We're already with Variks and seem to have forgiven him for his past stuff with the Prison of Elders and such. Same with Crow, at least our guardians have seem to have forgiven him for killing Cayde and such. Seems like this entire year feels a lot about looking past the problems in the past to fight for the future.
Next on that list would be Rasputin. With the siva outbreak sequel.

The thing that caught my attention with Caiatl was the one act of letting Zavala and Osiris leave despite knowing the Imperial Cabal would likely be attacked right after.
Cabal do not do that, so the fact Caiatl did says there's far more to her than she lets on
Caiatl ia a fantastic character so far, that seemingly came out of nowhere. I know we've had mentions of her in text, but now, having a face and a voice, it helps a lot.
She's imposing, confident and worthy of respect.
She's not some generic enemy who makes empty threats and gets deleted 3 month later(I hope it won't be the case and so far it doesn't look like it).
Also, the fact that Zavala and Osiris adress her by "Empress" speaks volumes.
It may end where our character gets a seat on her war council as an ambassador for the Vanguard.
i dont mind champions i hate the mods to deal with them the first row takes up too many space unless i reset alot to try and match burns im kinda forced into the same gun everytime

why?
As someone who plays a lot of pvp, I think slows would be more acceptable as well if they got rid of the accuracy penalty. CC abilities are in other more competitively balanced FPS games like Valorant, Rainbow Six Siege, etc. but the difference in those is they don't take control out of the player. If you are good enough, you can fight back in those games. In destiny though, the amount of power the freeze and slow have is extremely frustrating for sure and the only subclass even able to get out of a duskfield is top tree dawnblade. This isn't even mentioning shatter abilities and super balance. I don't mind the idea of stasis in being a defensive toolkit but with it's current balancing, it does feel bad currently for sure.
Crow should be the new speaker, it makes absolutely no sense for him to be the vanguard when he literally has at maximum 2 years of experience with the war (when others have in some cases have a hundred years of experience on him) but him having visions from the traveler and needing to hide his face? It screams “the new speaker” lol
I think Caiatl has trolled me by only putting the bow and the sniper in the smash chests

Stasis is wielding the darkness...should stasis be OP or a counter to the light? What is the basis of the story and gameplay of Destiny.

a shame we didnt get a remake of the dust palace strike at least boss wise or so far not even like a group of psions as a boss in the battlegrounds. Oh and eververse is still a huge detrement to the game. would have liek to see or hear from shiro-4 again since saladin is running the operations
