I flew a canyon this morning where I knew signal was going to be an issue. I can feel the anxiety in your narration, and I totally relate. I just ordered parts for 2 seven inch drones. Check out the AOS UL7. Im super excited! Thanks for sharing beautiful trip! Colorado?
Epic flights, I just love watching lr mountain surfing, but I still have not taken my Source one 7in over very far from myself, but once I'm used to traveling far away, I hope to get some good videos. Thanks again for the video, and how you get great shots.
@@FalconRadFPV yes, so it is! Started with miniquad and got a micro LongRange now, feeling out distance. Wind affects much at 4" though. Nice seeing your process of getting out there, it's nerve wracking specially in that landscape! Flying analog too. Nice!
Hi! I just found your channel and am blown away by the epic aerial videos you captured. Seeing how you and your partner plan your positions and set up was insightful and interesting. I fly an old phantom drone but am very interested in FPV Long range platforms to get better videos of the mountains in my area. Your video was very helpful. Subbed, shared and thumb up. GREAT job making this!
great video, sorry about your truck. I know it may not be your cup of tea but I'd love to see some "mid" range flights with smaller quads. Like most people I'm just not willing or able to risk a big 7-10" long range quad, but I enjoy taking my flywoo 4" out a mile or 2. A lot of the lessons you teach have transfered over well and I'm pretty sure your video on setting up switches and GPS rescue save me one quad! I'd buy a Falcon FPV 4" long range quad in a heart beat.
Very nice roundup of your spot scouting technique! Nice flying as always! Good habit to freestyle in the meantime to keep up the muscle memory for dangerous long range situations as well! 👍 At 2:20 - is there the chance of bears visiting at night? 🐻 (Haha actually wrote that before I reached the part that your clutch went funny!) And why do you use Betaflight? Got used to it and just a habit? INAV has a nice return to home trackback feature now and it works pretty nice but I guess the regular raise altitude before RTH is more suitable for mountains anyways... As long you don't fly around at half altitude of the peak lol! However I am watching your videos for quite a while now, just sad that I built a 7" HGLRC Sector already - my next one will be a FalconRad for sure as well! Keep flying! 😉
@@FalconRadFPV Ah okay thanks for your reply I understand! RTH saved me though a couple times from losing a quad when I started it but yes over time you get more confident about your gear and that is the most important.
Awesome video! Quick question, what are you using for your RC Link? Im guessing crossfire? I see you have the Frsky X-lite, how do you like that radio? I had a Tango2 and really like the shape of it like that but the Gimbals seemed small to full size gimbals on the bigger controlle's. Are using the TBS Micro TX V2 or the bigger 2W Crossfire Module?
@@FalconRadFPV The TX16S is a nice radio but it seems kind of big, but i havent seen one in person before.. For comparison, have you ever tried a Tango 2 or a TBS Mambo, or even the RM Boxer? Did you like any of them? I think they have 3/4 size gimbals. The X-lite has way smaller gimbals than my Frsky Q X7S and even looks smaller than the T2/Mambo's, but i kind of miss the smaller travel of the Tango 2 style gimbal controller
I use a pair of homemade helical antennas because I just like the3 fact that I can make my own antennas. But if you just want something easy that works well you can get TrueRC X2-air antennas. They are for sure one of the best out there.
Hey man, I like this long format with vlog and test flights! One thing I noticed is that your dBm level never went down below -70 while in my last flights I was getting -100 while being only 3km away in a U valley with no RF noise, which made me worry a bit. What power level are you running on your radio? I have it set to dynamic but it never goes up more than 250mW...
great adventure documentary. stunning shots over the peaks, what a place to fly. only thing that could have made those peaks better would be seeing foresty forest and rocko sitting on a peak hehehe. it must be great to have a spotter taking care of data and being an extra pair of eyes on the flight. people under estimate how stressful it is flying even one mile away over impossible terrain, and one big thing nobody mentions is flying without a solid horizon, we dont notice how much the visual bit of flat ground informs our stick inputs, take that away and you have to be holding the quad by the scruff of the neck at all times. not to mention not being able to hear the quad, 80mph looks pretty much the same as hovering when your in gigantic arenas. so, to add it all up, flying a mile away is stressful, flying a mile away up a mountain with no horizon or distance visual input, is horrifying. ps. i know these kind of vids are a real pain to put together but please do more.
hello, I love your work, it is very beautiful. I just bought a Falcon RPM frame and can you show the settings for this frame under betaflight 4.0? thanks
Thanks you! You can email me at falconradfpv@gmail.com and I'll send you some screen grabs of my settings or whatever. Let me know your parts list in the email so I know how similar your setup is.
Thank you! Really nice flying and great location. I usually film with gopro hero 8 4K@30 fps without stabilization and use ReelSteady in post. However, if I don't make really slow turns, the video looks like it's missing fps. Can you please share the gopro version and settings you used for the flights in this video?
If the video looks jittery or like it's skipping frames (when played back at regular speed) then it's probably because of your cameras shutter speed. You need motion blur = ND filters. No matter what fps the camera is at it only records while the shutter is open. At 1/240 sec shutter speed and 30 fps the camera is only recording for an brief instant once every 30th of a second. It makes it look like frames are missing but it's actually that the camera only recorded brief flashes of footage. If you change the shutter speed to double the fps it'll look much better. So at 30fps (which is best I think) you want double for shutter speed so 1/60th sec. At 1/60th instead of say 1/240th the camera is recording four times longer for each 1/30th of a second frame of video. But now the exposure is likely too bright. That's where the ND filter comes in, it allows you to slow down the shutter speed without over exposing the video. Bright sunny day use an ND32 cloudy day an ND 8. Even with the camera on auto for the shutter you'll see a difference. Then use ISO 100 or 200 whichever works best for exposure, 100 iso is preferable.
its usually the camera processor struggling, it can be the sd card too, or both, you'll notice most panning shots judder a bit even on great cameras. it could also be your computer, strange but a lot of computers and vlc or windows media player struggle with high bit rate images, i've got a few vids (especially 60fps) that look juddery in my video player but once uploaded to youtube they look fine...... double check your vlc is ready for h265 vids, its just a plugin you download and vlc acceses itself... i think, i forget. pps. get gyroflow, its much better than realsteady now, and lets you fine tune how much stabilising and cropping and zooing is going on, my tip is turn smoothing below 0.1, so 0.04 etc etc. it removes the shakes but leaves the stick inputs, also there a button that lets you see the whole image sstretched out and the window its capturing, you can then push the window to get some image back, fov gets bigger.
I'm using crossfire with an old X-lite TX. I'm looking to get a new TX at the moment the xlite has crappy gimbles. No FPV skills do not translate well to los skills. I can't fly LOS worth crap! lol....
