    Big risk, I've used that type of straps that hang to the tripod mount. Don't do it, it's very easy to unscrew, slide and you'll also scratch the camera. Oh btw, it also makes the lens the lowest thing hanging, very prone to getting hit. Don't do this, really.

      everything you're trying to use against this system is simply being too precious with your gear and NOT getting the shot. you must take risks (an educated and calculated risk, but a risk nonetheless)
      doing anything other than displaying your gear on a shelf is a "big risk"... and couldn't the same things be said for using a tripod mount for... a tripod?! as far as what else you mentioned, its an easy fix, lens hood, also, cpl acts as secondary shield too. still cheaper than a new lens..

    I absolutely love the fact that with that strap plate you don't have to adjust the strap length ever again, because whenever you want to take a low angle shot, a vertical shot or just bring camera further away from your body (for whatever reason) the strap is no longer in the way. Before that even with PD anchors attached at the bottom plate, you would still have to adjust the strap length to do your business from time to time... or even disconnect the strap and put it somewhere. And now it just hangs on you with or without the camera. I am pretty shocked that it took the industry so much time to come to this design lol.

    I have no desire to use a Peak Design quick disconnect or similar product as they’re way overpriced for what they are. And living in the desert a backpack is the last thing I’d want due to the heat, so attaching a camera and lens to my chest isn’t an option…

    I don’t really get the PD strap system, why do people need to be able to remove their strap often enough for these to make sense? Yes, I’ve had a few times where the strap has been annoying, but it’s rare, and I want a strap more often than I don’t. Both of my cameras have a unique strap since I want to fit the vibe of the camera (one film one digital) so it’s not like I want the same strap. Not saying it’s not nice for the some people, but I don’t get why so many people have it.

    Hey Anthony! All that plates are incredible but if you need a vertical shot with a tripod... how'd you solve that issue? There is no PP plate on the side of the camera to put it vertically. I use a combination: for event work, I've got a Ulanzi/Falcam plate holder on a blackrapid strap. Advantages of both systems (comfortable hanging and sliding up and down for photos, but quick release so I can hold the camera up high, or drop it onto a tripod for long exposure).

    • @CaptainJonathan
      @CaptainJonathan 3 дні тому

      @@bothhemispheresphotography5031 That's something I should look into.

  • @bothhemispheresphotography5031

    I am all-in on the Falcam/Ulanzi quick release system (I have their plates, cages, half cages, rotating cages, arms, treeroot tripod, backpack clamp...you get it). But I find that the f38 plates don't fit all of my arca-swiss tripod heads, they are too narrow (I have 8, on different tripods/clamps). It's maddening, I often have to screw on an arca-swiss plate on to my f38 cages in order to attach them to some of my tripod heads (I'm a commercial timelapse photographer, thus the array of equipment: I'll often have up to 5 cameras shooting a scene, all on their own tripods, clamps, or motion-control rig). I should note that the arca-swiss clamps that don't clamp tight enough for the f38 plates work with all of my arca-swiss plates (I've got about 20, from name brand to the most random chinese no-name manufacturer).
    As for accessories that have changed the way I use my camera, the rotating cage is one. Ideal for use on a tripod (vertical to horizontal while maintaining centring, but it's absolutely ideal for attachment to my motion-control pan/tilt head: no more L-brackets causing instability and adding weight). Also great with my gimbal.
    On a totally unrelated note: are they Falcam? Are they Ulanzi? I haven't yet figured out what the relationship is between the two names, and therefore I don't know how to quickly describe them (and I see from your asterisk'd comments, you haven't figured out this one either, ha ha).

Why would I want to buy a Falcam Camera Strap Mount at additional expense and bulk, when I already have a PD plate attached to the bottom of my camera with a PD anchor. With the PD strap hack, I have one point of attachment which is quick and easy to attach and remove. I also have the option of a two point attachment, all with my existing hardware. Another solution if you have a QD receptacle at the bottom of your cage is attach a more robust QD strap or the Kirk QD Swivel D ring which can attach to any strap you want.

    Literally just put a pd anchor on the camera, then one on the tripod plate. Problem solved

    You need to be careful about using F38 in an Arca clamp tripod head. I was stupid and had an F38 base camera on a monopod with a Arca Swiss clamping head, and tilted it too far. Camera popped loose and dribbled….
    My monopod now has an F38 clamp on the head, so that the camera locks down. My bigger tripods are still Arca Swiss.

      Same but worst happened to me, as camera hit me after sliding when I raise the tripod in the air :(
