    Props for leaving in the missed shot. A lot of people will go through a long spiel about a shot, get down to take the shot, then there's an edit in the video, and the shot is executed perfectly. I appreciate your honesty and willingness to be fallible.

      💯 won’t be my style in my videos, if I have a go at shooting a shot it will be my first effort that goes in and maybe a re do if it’s so bad 🤣

    I've only seen one pro mention this tip that helped me more than anything. If the object ball is close and you need to elevate the cue ball more, aim to hit the cue ball with the top edge of the tip, not the middle of the tip. This made the biggest change for me.

    Good video. I like the dart jump. Easy to get the ball in the air but you really need to focus on the aim. I can't even do the other type of jump. Glad to see your recommendation of the dart jump.

    I do ok with the dart but need to work on the other type of jump. I also do well jumping off the rail over a ball

    I’ve always been afraid of the jump shot. I’ve tried numerous times and it’s always a disaster. After watching this video I’ll be practicing these techniques to see if I can actually take on air over a ball lol. Wish me luck! 🍀

    Could you explain how to do the side stroke? like Shane Van Boening. I usually use a standard elevated stroke but since I’m short I feel the side stroke would be more versatile but difficult to aim.

    As far as aiming is concerned, when I’m down at table height lining the shot up I like to find the spot on the ball I’m jumping over that’s directly in line with where I want to hit the object ball. Then, when I’m standing up I’m aiming in the direction of that point on the blocking ball rather than at the object ball. I just find it easier having a target that’s closer to the cue ball.

    Thanks for the tips Karl. I have a Rage jump break cue and I can jump enough with its tip, however I changed the tip for a Bulletproof break tip and couldn't jump 🤔 So I went back with the Rage's cue tip. Any idea why? PD. I'm from Colombia and going to London next month. Can you suggest me a pool hall? Thanks again. Having a hard time jumping when the obstacle ball is close, so will try the dart jump

    Can you show where on the cue ball to aim for the jump shot? Or, is it the same aim as if you were shooting with follow or draw on a regular shot, but at the 45 degree angle? Do you use a steeper angle on shots over a ball that is close?

      Yes steeper when closer but don’t go too steep, around veneer ball strike when looking at cueball

    Do you/will you cover the mental game?
    Sometimes I find it difficult playing away matches in somewhat hostile environments. Plus obviously there's the fact you can't get used to the table like you can "at home". Admittedly I'm talking about UK 8 Ball but I'm sure it would apply a lot to US Pool as well...

    I do like the dart technique and love to play darts also. While jumping with the dart technique I do impart some unwanted side spin (left to right) which is most evident on the longer shots. I keep practicing but can't seem to rid myself of the side spin. Any thoughts??

    An underrated benefit of playing one pocket, exclusively (for cash) is I don’t need any stinking jump cues!.. Or break cues for that matter..

    I like to watch the object ball while jumping, but that only works if the balls are closer together. For a longer jump shot, do you watch the cue ball only when pulling the trigger?

    Hi Karl, can you do a tutorial on how to play jump shots with different spin? For example, I’ve seen Jayson play shots in tournaments where he jumps the cue ball and the cue ball screws back a couple of inches.

    I am not bad at jumping, but it is definitely my weakness. I don't understand how some can jump and put draw on the cueball. I try that and it acts no different from when I just jump the ball.

    I can dart jump nearly every time, but for some reason when I do a normal stroke, regardless of distance, I just can't seem to get the cueball up. I know it has to with the way I'm stroking it, because everything else is the same as my dart stroke, but I can't for the love of me figure out what it is.

      Certainly more stronger but I think it’s the tips as well, the propel jumps very easy tbf so it wouldn’t be your worst purchase 🙂

    The league that I play in doesn't allow jump cues (APA in the US). We have to use full length cues. Any added tips?

      • Jump Cues - Only allowed in Masters Divisions.
      • Break Cues - Sometimes combined with jump cues to form
      a jump-break cue, these cues are allowed in League play for
      breaking. They may only be used to perform jump shots or massé
      shots in Masters Divisions.
      • Regular Shooting Cues - These cues may be used to perform
      jump shots, massé shots and break shots in all APA League
      and Tournament play. You may not “break down” your Regular
      Shooting Cue to perform a jump shot.

    180!!! Oh no you didn't! lol... Good vid on jumps which I struggle with. The amount of force, soft or hard & the shape of the tip may help me bc My break tip is rounded for english on my breaks, but on my jump/break cue I think the rounded tip is messing up my jumps. I mostly hit the ball I'm trying to jump over. it's a White Diamond tip. My freind can jump well with my jump cue/ tip, but I don't. Which tip would you recommend to a rookie to jump with that will also be good to break with? BTW.. love your channel, thanks for all of your help

    Hi Karl, just a quick question as a total pool noob. I saw the video of the whole fiasco where the ref pulled you up for 'measuring'. What exactly is measuring and why is it not allowed?

      Good Q, apparently you are not allowed to use the cue ball as a aid to measure gaps etc or something lol
      I however was trying to get the cueball in the gap lol

      @@KarlBoyesPoolLife was just gona say that only thing it doesn't do is aim for you..... But when it makes getting the ball up so easy focusing solely on your aim makes jumping so much easier.... I can honestly say my jump shot percentage has gone way up after getting it

    Jumping was only allowed to be part of pool because it sped up the game, something TV demanded. So now, with pool matches almost never shown on TV but relegated to UA-cam, jumping should once more be outlawed. In my opinion, jumping takes away the benefit of playing a safety and lessens the skill required to compete.

      jumping is a skill and very difficult to master same as snookers im very happy to watch it on youtube instead of skipping youtube while someone figures out how to hit a kick shot safe and not kick shot pot

    I hope jump shots would get banned, i really don't like getting out of an awesome safety just by jumping... I love the technical execution but it is a shot for tricks not for pool
