- A mistake in the beginning as Hart was born in 1952 instead of 1961 :) He was seventeen when he made his debut.
A look back at the career of Eugene 'Cyclone' Hart.
To see this beautiful peice of Art you done on my dad was amazing and his story this is a phenomenal video great pictures and most of all the HART LEGACY lives on
A pleasure to hear from you, Champ. All the best to you and your Dad.
I'm sending positive energy to you and your family. Be well
Your dad I think had a lot of untapped potential I think he could of been champion with enough focus
Beautiful. ❤

I remember when I was 12-13, my family used to vacation to Atlantic city every year and this particular year we stayed at the same hotel just off the boardwalk as Eugene Hart; So one day we were swimming at the hotel pool and we see this dude swimming on the other side and we meet up as we're playing in the pool and find out it was Mr. Hart, he was there to fight Sugar Ray Seales (olympic medalist) and he was the nicest person ever, lifting me up and throwing me into the pool (in a fun way) and when he was going back to his room after it seemed like hours he told some old white guy I think it was his manager to give us ringside tickets to his fight, now at the time Sugar Ray was all over the media and was a heavy favorite and we were rooting for Sugar, until we met Mr. Hart, that's when me and my family switched to mr. Hart (heavy underdog) because he was so nice and respectful of my mother and father and nice to the kids (long story short) we sat ringside (my first fight ever) and Eugene 'cycloe' Hart easily (in my eyes) won the fight, best vacation ever.
Great story my man! Philly is so deep in boxing history with so many good fighters from there
Thank you for sharing this!
Was that old white man Cus?
Cool share, thanks.
great story - thanks for sharing
Marvellous Marvin Hagler earned his master’s degree in boxing in facing the murderers row of middleweights from Philadelphia: Eugene “Cyclone” Hart, Bobby “Boogaloo” Watts, Willy “the Worm” Monroe, and “Bad” Bennie Briscoe.
It's crazy how many super talented fighters just never got over that hump for one reason or another
Absolutely, that’s why I love Rich’s channel, because every upload is a school day for me, as I’m knocking 40 and am a relative newcomer to the world of boxing, but I’m finding that I barely watch any current events, I’m all about the history, and even recent history, upto a couple of decades ago, but the scene nowadays is totally different than stuff from the 70’s through to around the millennium period, after that it just looks like a showboating money show. It doesn’t seem as raw and real , bar a few rare eyebrow lifts, but to me the same level of talent looks thin on the ground in todays scene in comparison.
Like Spider Cooney
So true! Nothing is guaranteed in life. Boxing epitomizes that truth.
The sixties and seventies in Philly was an amazing time for the middleweights. It sounds crazy but there was almost too much talent. Gym wars among middleweights made many of those talented boxers in Philly leave the fight in the gym. Marvin Hagler came to Philly and learned much of his craft by fighting,Bobby Watts,Willie Monroe, Cyclone Hart and Bennie Briscoe. Thanks for another Terrific boxing documentary.
That fight, Heart vs Vito was absolutely terrible. They both stunk to high heaven!
My pleasure, zippy doo
@@bobbyohalterego4102 Hart was pretty will washed up in his fight Vito. Also Vito was always clumsy and wild in his fight but his heart, stamina and punch output got him wins but they never looked pretty.
Nah %100. I know all about the Philly boxing scene and fighters from that era. Well documented with slot of tough topflight contenders . That fight was brutal to watch tho.

Excellent work. His son was so close to gaining the belt his father never quite could.
The events between Hart and Antuofermo (both in the ring and in the locker room) were moving and insightful.
Vito told me years ago that this was his toughest fight. He had a busted eardrum and didn't think he would last after the first round. Luckily, he said, Hart's power diminished as the fight wore on.
Very nice cover - I like that style. Thanks for another amazing episode
My pleasure, Mehdi.
It amazes me how fast he can whip that left hook.. He obviously burnt himself out trying so hard to KO everyone... reminds me of a middleweight Earnie Shavers.
Great work Rich 👊
Thanks, OSS. Yeah, Hart was freaky fast with those left hooks.
Philly in the house, again! Nice job Rich... Pura Vida!
Thank you, Ron.
I was in attendance for bot fights with Briscoe since Briscoe was and still is my favorite fighter of all time and remember the first fight as a classic and the second to short but exciting…I remember for the second fight the promoter Russell Peltz both fighters would share 50k lots of money back in the day…lol.
Philly boxers were no joke back then.
Another awesome chapter from you Sir. Cheers Rich 👊
Thanks, Mr T
Can you imagine Rich? If fighter's like "Cyclone" were in today's rankings. It would be something to remember 👊
Great 👍 video RICH, it's just something about those Philly fighters, a lot of them have GREAT Left hooks
Thanks, Donnell. Yeah, must be something in the air in Philly that produces those mean left hookers.
Absolutely amazing work Rich. Been telling my fellow boxing fans to tap in to your channel, one of whom was a junior Golden Gloves champ during this era of Philly greats. #loveyourchannel
Hey I appreciate that, America Talk, thank you.
A heart felt documentary Rich, a touching tribute to a Philly legend. That era had amazing talent and a real sense of boxing tradition. Well done Rich. 🥊👏
Thank you, Brett.
Great video on Eugene "Cyclone" Hart and you meant Hart was born in 1951 as most sources said so, but I'm glad you factcheck yourself on your description video. He was one of the legendary middleweight contenders with his big left hook. Keep it up Rich.
Thanks, Scorpio.
@@RichtheFightHistorian You're welcome Rich my man.
One of my favourite fighters to watch when I was younger. Cyclone was never in a dull fight.
Excellent documentary
Thank you, Peter.
Hey Rich, thanks.Win,lose or draw Cyclone was a true warrior. He came to fight pure and simple.
Yes, he epitomized a "Philadelphia fighter".
Damn @richthefighthistorian! The Hits keep coming. And I love the sound track you did for the Hart--Briscoe I fight. You are, hands down, the lineal champion of fight videos on youtube. Keep the hits coming!
Thanks very much, emokellen.
Thank you rich for these wonderful documentaries. These fighters need to be remembered for what they go through.
Right on, Al.
Wow!!
Great find today and it isn’t my birthday for a month!
Thank you
My pleasure, barrysentials.
This is a very powerful video with alot of wise quotes at 35 yrs old I can honestly say I learned a lot from it.
Excellent Rich!! Mr. Hart had that left hook that was feared by many. The series with him and Mr. Bennie was classic! Gypsy Joe Harris was the Parnell of the 60's & 70's until they found out that Harris was half blind. Thanks again Rich!!
My pleasure, Eric.
Wow, I've never heard of this fighter. As usual, great video Rich. Thank you.
Thank you, nyquil, glad you could see the Cyclone.
Another really interesting video. I've said this several times before but I think it's important for you to know where your fans are coming from and what makes it great. I'm not really a boxing fan but I find these personal stories very interesting. It focuses not only on their in-ring achievements but also their personal stories and what forged them into the men they became. Punchy music, no pun intended, can add to a video but I feel the balance was too loud in comparison to your narration, I'm not sure how others feel.
Thank you, Rich. You put together a great story. I got a real sense of Eugene Hart as a fighter, and as a person. They don't make them like Eugene anymore. Well done!
Thank you, Charles. Fighters of Cyclone's ilk are indeed missing today.
Thank you so much for this Rich. I knew little of Cyclone's career except as an opponent & know nothing of his life.! Appreciate this work. Bless 👊
Always a pleasure, Nick, thank you.
Thanks for the amazing video Rich ❤
My pleasure, John.
Thanks Rich! Knew of Cyclone mostly because of being born and raised in Harrisburg 1/2 hours from Philadelphia and from knowing Hagler's record. Never knew of his early promise. Knew he had a losing record against Philly's murderers row. Great to see the early footage against Kitten Hayward and others
Sure thing, Brian.
Really enjoyed this one 👌
Thanks, Gerry.
#PHILLY 💪🏿 Thank you for highlighting Philadelphia’s wonderful boxing history.
My pleasure, The Driver's Seat.
quality content Rich keep em coming please .
Sure thing, Kim, thank you.
One more awesome bio, thanks!
My pleasure, Jeff.
Another one?! 😮
Rich, you're a wizard.
The wizard of boxe (in french).
On a roll :)
Hardest puncher Hagler ever faced
Wow !! Another tough Philly Fighter Marvin fought !! Cyclone was a sharp fighter 🥊🥊
That is a meeeaann left hook! 😤
Thanks for the video, RICH THE FIGHT HISTORIAN
Sure thing, abudujana
Rich is the Santa to boxing fans . Always giving us presents .. no matter how bad we been hahaha
ha ha, ah well I've been blocking some bad ones as of late.
TONY SUERO one of my old boxing coaches .. He also trained Patrick cann and Billy Mastrangelo .. 64th and Cahill 3-Ds Gym early 90s My Man
AWESOME !
Putting him in with Antofuermo was a mistake. Should have given him one two confidence builder fights first.
Very nice video. What’s the name of the song on 5:06?
Thanks. It's "Shock The World" by Beacon Light.
Serious left hand I would of thought the ropes be his friend walk into that it's lights out .
This is the 60s and 70s on my screen it looks like it could of been yesterday, I don't know what you have done to make it so clear bravo Richie
I got a guy at work who likes boxing onto this I told him he's done all the greats and he smirked and said what do you know of war I had to take a second did he just say that lol he hadn't finished, he was talking about ww2 in colour I watched 2 or 3 episodes, is that how you do it Richie rendering? I think it said that in the titles , that will make a grown man cry I don't care if you're I'm well hard Mike Tyson lol it got me, it's on Netflix amazing and sickening.
1000lb deadlifts today been a while since I did that going to feel it tomorrow 😅
bookah, you have a good eye...Yes, I enhanced the Vito fight a bit...There is a special software that I use that renders it out...hit and miss sometimes but I felt it turned out okay here.
@@RichtheFightHistorian it works well mate like it clever tech 👍
Another great job Rich…. That’s a Philly great from the Neighborhood. He would come in the neighborhood Italian Gyms with all the old timers and give Pad work to the kids. He had the respect. Bad ring dude
Thank you, Johnny.
Three things are synonymous with Philly: The Liberty Bell, Philly Cheese Steak & Vicious Left Hooks. Great video documentary again by Rich...By the way, does anyone know how Vito Antuofermo is doing these days. I had heard he had health problems but I am not sure that is accurate.
He is doing well. In assisted living but goes out and looks good.
Thanks, James. Glad to hear it.@@jamesmonteverde5538
Great video Rich as always. Can you tell me the title of that awesome song..Shock the World? Can’t find it and will add it to my training music. Thanks.
Thanks, Dan. It's 'Shock the World' by Beacon Light.
Awesome..thank-you Rich.
He was tuff guy. Hard puncher
Gotta love a Philly fighter!! and that Left Hook
Also nice to see one end without the typical incarcerations or violent death. Is he still alive? So many of these guys you have profiled were heros of mine. Inspiring me to box. Albeit at an advanced age. I excelled at baseball and basketball, but I always wondered what the rush of winning a bout and jumping on the turn buckle felt like? It never occurred to me as a kid that most of these guys were fighters for a reason. So many of them were not good guys. Nice to see some of them were.
Vito “the Mosquito” was one tough SOB.
Wonder if he’s related to Kevin Hart.
The opening says he was born in "1961", but it supposed to be "1951" ;-)
I misspoke. It's 1951 :)
He was born in 1952
@@jrussellpeltz3206 Thank you, Russell.
❤
The only thing I knew about Cyclone Hart is his name...
He had a left hook the truth.
Rich do a bio on Tony Squirro. He was a Philly neighborhood gym rat. He had great talent but went the other way.
Thanks, I'll look into him...his name keeps popping up and I do have some footage of his career.
Antefermo was a durable man
No way was he born in 1961 Richard?
I misspoke. It should have been 1952.
Sorry Rich hope i didn't come across as a Smartarse, your videos are beyond brilliant and I thank you for all your great stuff.@RichtheFightHistorian
@@grbbbc No, I block those people :) Thanks and have a nice Christmas.
@@RichtheFightHistorian you too, thanks again for your great channel.
🫡🏆❤️
Cyclone Hart had a great punch but I think he had a glass jaw and was Ko'd a few times.
Vito Antuofermo had no skills, he was all heart !
Antifungal was the original blood donor
Antifermo?
I LIKE YOUR VIDEOS BUT DUMP THE CRAPPY MUSIC.
He couldn’t been born in 1961 ? Lol
Wow rich you are really doing your thing my friend...unmatchable impossible to even try rich got this thing on lock great work🥊💯🥊🫡
