I have the song for this on my phone but when I listen to it it's not the same as watching him play it. When I watch him, it makes me feel so happy because of how happily he plays his music. There are a lot of talented musicians out there, but I love Ronald the most because him playing the piano just makes me smile. I can't be the only one who doesn't start smiling and jamming out with him as I watch him.

I remember first watching his video when this was not even a year old. I still see my self coming back to these classics and I always mention Ronald to other people that can appreciate his talent. I love his sound and I am a throwback kind of guy, and tunes like this remind me of those old school NES days with the sweetest background music. Much enjoyment and helps me feel young again... thanks.

Man, I remember listening to this song soon after you posted it, and being obsessed with it! Fast forward many years later and now I'm starting to ease into making music of my own, and my brain keeps trying to over-complicate things. Randomly remembered this song again and boy did I need to read this bit at the end again. Really helped me clear my head and remember what the point of making music is: having fun. Thanks, Ronald! Keep on making incredible music!
Here's what i love about this kid. He seem geeky, awkward, and kinda goofy, but he has a passion, and once he gets on that funky keyboard there isn't a goddamn thing in the world that can stop his raw talent from roaring fourth. He shows this by how he smiles when he plays how much joy this process brings him. How many of us can say that? How many people go through life truly living, doing what they love? Roland represents an ideal that more people need to have in their life. Passion. Keep jamming Roland. You're a role model for everyone and you're music is incredible.

To me music is about eliciting an emotional response, the theory should evolve around why the music does this, not be a strict set of rules to follow to create music. Also the idea of "its just created on a computer and needs no skill" - we have moved on from needing to practice for 20 years to master an obtuse string bound wooden box to simply express musical talent. Computers allow us to efficiently create any mix of sounds you can think of in endless combination. Allowing an artist to concentrate on the music, not muscle memory.

Getting in my friends car in winter 2010, we just blazed up and were on our way to our other friend's house for a new years party. It was a blue moon. Psychedelics were had that night, and this music is intertwined with my memories still after all these years. Just the other night I see that same friend, picking me up in his car to go chill with our other old friends from those many years ago. He plays this music and the memories come flooding back like a raging torrent. Still listening to these tunes, still kicking it with my day ones, and keeping with what's golden.

12 years later and this humble indie game's soundtrack is still embedded deep in my soul and kicking up at random times, and I love it every time. Tracks like yours elevate a game from good to unforgettable. Just like Shatter, and more recently Helltaker.

Sequence came out after this song, and they just had Ronald Jenkees' permission for use (and i think maybe one or two new songs for the game? i forget)
As an additional note, Sequence is called Before The Echo now (there was a trademark dispute of some kind). That's just how I found out about this legendary music man, didn't mean to imply it was composed for that game. Glad I followed the trail for that game's music, that's for sure. No wonder the tracks sound so good when the musician's having so much fun making them!
Before the Echo, formerly Sequence, uses Jenkees' tracks:
Derty, Loui, Throwing Fire, Stay Crunchy, Outer Space, Guitar Sound and probably others I can't remember as songs for the rhythm aspect of the game.
The other game by Iridium Studios(?), "There Came An Echo" also employed Jenkees' fantastic talent to compose tracks for the game.
Incidentally I have this as my ringtone.

A true Master at work. I love all the Jenkees videos but this one is my all-time favorite. The fantastic hat, the masterful grace of fingers dancing over two keyboards, and the interlude of 'beat playing out' is simply magical. So glad this man exists and shares his Art with us.
