I can't remember which years I was at SummerCamp, but I believe I was at this one, and moe. proceeded to play In The Kitchen the next set : ) Love the friendly competitive antics they pull at SummerCamp.
That's the Umph dog. Get on the train!!! Make no mistake my friend, I loves me some moe., but UM quite simply blows them out of the water in just about every aspect. moe. on a good night is a great band, but they have a tendency these days to get a bit, shall we say, noodley. Their jams often lack direction and at a certain point simply become abstract noise to me. Umphrey's doesn't have that problem. They jam often, and with purpose. If I didn't know better I'd think it was composed. Also, Jake Cinninger is the nastiest mother father around. There simply aren't any players I've ever heard with that kind of technical ability that also have that kind of nose for the jam. The man knows how to whip a crowd into a frenzy, and then lower them back down again. In some respects UM is better even than Phish (I know, I am a blasphemer). At least Phish 3.0 anyway.
Who cares who is better! If they get your feet moving without you thinking about getting your feet moving then isn’t that the point? You either feel it or you don’t! Silly arguments are pointless so just get your groove on!
That kuroda guy that does lights for that 4 piece band from the northeast is probably worth a mention when discussing the best light show for a rock and roll concert
Man, this brings back amazing memories of being down in Austin early 00's seeing Moe play this!! Had a few mushrooms for dinner and was with a good friend who just passed away in January! Man, time fkn flies!! Enjoy it while you can!! Thanks UM
moe. playing rebubula was one of my exposures to the jam band scene close to 20 years ago now. I really like rebubula and tried to get into more moe stuff but this is their only song I really liked. When it came to the whole jam band genre I found I liked umphreys and the disco biscuits much more.
I just hope when I see moe. at High Sierra Music Festival in a couple weeks they play Rebubula. It's hands down my favorite song of theirs. That being said Umpfrey's McGee are right on their way to being one of the all time greats.
all i can say ahfking mazing. i've seen moe 4x and rebubula two of those. this was, for me, ultru-sick-reediculous. when are they(mcgee) touring again ,.I'm there.
tottaly majical night at the scamp. best fest ever. 2011 was my fav but shit besides the super killer weather 2013 was a stocked year too. no stringdusters tho. and I wish trey would just bring his old band with em hahaha. fuckin love scamp! See u in the woods soon!! CARL!!!! BUTTSCATCAH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, Jeff Waful was moe.'s lighting designer at the same time he was Umphrey's. Now he just does Umphrey's. And I didn't watch this video, just listened to the audio, but I've seen Umphrey's 53 times and Waful has always been incredibly on point and ridiculously talented. Definitely my favorite LD of all time... a close second would be the LD for Pink Floyd. When you leave an Umphrey's show and your eyes are like saucers, you know you just got Wafulized.
Its obvious that rage sticks can get in the way of a persons view of the show. Lots of people go to concerts to see the band as well as listen to them play.
Zachary as far as cover songs go, I'm pretty sure venues have to have some sort of license to allow covers to be played. It sounds weird but I think that's how it goes. And since UM and Moe. go back so many years I'm sure they didn't care as it was all planned out. Moe. ended up covering Umphrey's later that night anyways..
Just FYI, there's no copyright for live performances. Any venue can charge people to come to a show where the artist plays cover songs and both venue and artist can profit from it without paying any royalties to the original composer of the music. However, distributing recordings for profit (video or music) is prohibited without the expressed consent of the composer...that is considered itellectual property (copyright material).
A Pirrone I was wrong. Bands cannot sell cover* songs without consent/agreement from the original owner. Which is why we don't see some covers on the UM DVD's...but you're right...it's too funny!!!!
it was fun hearing the switched songs, but um definitely did it better, no offense though we were all loving hearing moe.do in the kitchen :) see you next year
Did Umphrey's have to get approval from moe. to play this? I always wondered that, they do so many covers and you would think they would have to get some sort of rights first. I'm all for it either way..
nah. bands can cover each other live. they're friends with moe too and moe actually covered In the Kitchen the next day if i recall. they probably worked that out beforehand but UM has been covering moe (this song specifically) since they were a local South Bend, Indiana band playing in bars.
and Al sounded like shit during moe.s cover of in the kitchen by Umphreys that next night@summer camp. regardless, best two covers of that weekend! moe. and Umphs killed it every show. this was my personal highlight of the weekend.
you clearly have never seen him shred. just please listen to this years mountain jam set. cem into cem walk 2.. trust me the slap is serious. youll reconsider that statment
yes i have, and Al is a joke. the only reason it took me a while to fall in love with moe. chuck kicks his ass. and Al would never play cemetary walk, seeing as how he is in moe. unless you are later referring to stasiks performance in it, which contradicts what you were talking about in the first place about Rob... focus idiot.,
i was referring to the person who made the initial comment about how stasik cant beat the bass like rob can... which is not true. at all. focus ya idiot
Wrong. Jim Loughlin is the percussionist in moe. Vinny does play drum kit. My opinion, Kris is the better drummer (over Vin), Jim is the better percussionist (over Andy). Just my opinion though! Both bands are great
Well I don't think that's what he's saying. I think he means, if you want a better view, go down front. If you are going to stand in the back, don't complain about not being able to see. Pretty sure that's what he meant. For the record, I don't mind rage sticks unless they are ridiculously large (like a full size flag) and/or standing right in front of the stage like an idiot. Only use rage sticks to find your group of friends, not to annoy the fuck out of the 1,000 people standing behind you.
nailed it harder than moe. Hilarious that Scamp used to be moe.'s fest, now UM has taken over and even better...they're playing moe.'s songs better than moe. love it!
saying "i hope i see moe. play rebubula" is some n00b ass shit for a moe.ron, im still chasing bring it back home, seen rebubula 5 or 6 times, they over play it in my opinion
Dare I say they do it even better than moe.? They also do a cover of The Disco Biscuits' Home Again that is absolutely scorching. If you haven't heard it I HIGHLY recommend checking it out.
people dont really realize that most musicians take it as a huge compliment when other bands cover their music....covers are the shit, especially this one
Love the cover, but c'mon guys, you're UM... where is the subtle picking they do during the verses, instead of just chords? That's the best thing about the Bubs.. Satan and Al both laying down those nasty rifts.
i still think the lights guy for moe. is more in sync with their music. granted this particular song is not theirs so he is not familiar with the timing. but overall i like moe.s light guy better
Stale cover that lacks the power of any of moe.'s live versions. Weak vocals as well, not just on this cover specifically but in general. Their sound is a little thin for a six man band, and even after multiple listens I find myself looking for a moe. or Phish show to give me that feeling of completeness. Something's missing with this band.
Wow, have a bad time at one of their shows or something, you seem to be biased for reasons unknown? Anyone who is smart enough to respect moe. for what they are should also be smart enough to respect Umphrey's for what they are, this is part of the festival; moe. and Umphrey's cover each other's songs and have a great time doing it, bring that shit somewhere else.
Devin D Expression of opinion is a constitutional exercise to which everyone is entitled. I implore you to consider the notion that I was not insulting the band with malicious intent, but merely offering a critical opinion. I also urge you to re-evaluate your understanding of bias. Do I exhibit a preference for one band over the other based on the opening statement in my comment? Yes. Is the opinion uninformed or preconceived? It would be if I didn't bother to listen to any of Umphrey McGee's music before I decided to offer my take on it, but regrettably I forced myself to sit through almost an hour and a half of original live material, none of which moved me. An opinion isn't biased just because it offends personal preference.
I think you are completely wrong. Out of everything i've heard anyone say about Umphrey'sMcGee "lacking completeness" is definitely not one. They are one of the most talented touring bands around, and you need to give them another chance. They're such a different type of jam band. At least they don't drone on the same damn chord for 4 minutes and call it a jam like phish does. I'm a phish fan as well but that gets old after a while. Umphrey's music is much more instrumentally complicated and far more varied. Every show i see is better than the last and completely different. I have no clue what you have been listening to if you think it is lacking something. The light show is better as well and I would even go as far as to say that Jake CInninger is an equal, if not better, guitarist and Kris myers blows fishman out of the water. I really just think Umphrey's is an all around better group of musicians.
this just plain made me smile. I love when my favorite bands pay their respects to each other!
JayBigDadyCy gotta love when moe. covers in the kitchen
instablaster
my second favorite band covering my favorite band with the best light show coordinator in the world. that was special!! never ever ever forget that
and we get to share it. so cool
Waful was insane
Who's your 3rd favorite band?
Aside from waful being legit in his own right, he was moes lighting director for years before he went to Umphreys so he’s got it down pat
I can't remember which years I was at SummerCamp, but I believe I was at this one, and moe. proceeded to play In The Kitchen the next set : ) Love the friendly competitive antics they pull at SummerCamp.
Yeah it was this year. That was super cool. Some awesome memories out there in Chillicothe
@@relicinapickuptruck If I remember correctly they covered Beck's "Debra" the next night, which was totally unexpected and hilarious/awesome.
What year did do the switcheroo where Moe came out one by one as umphreys left the stage then Umphreys did they same thing at the Moe set?
@@euphoricyeti10001 They all roll into one, and melt into a dream.
I just gotta say,I'm a big moe fan but these guys just kicked ass on moes' tune which I love alot, love ya umphrey's mcgee, rock on dudes!!
First time I heard the cover I told my roommate moe. should probably never play the song again. So damn good
ABKman I wouldn't go that far Umphrey's is bomb but moe. still better.
one of the greatest jamband to jamband tributes EVER V
I LOVE Rebubula as moe. play it, but this is every bit as good! Simply awesome.
WOW! Once again UM proves that they are possibly the best band alive when it comes to shredding a cover song. Well done boys!
This song always puts a smile on my face
wow! moe. is my favorite band and they just destroyed this cover! i can't be more impressed.
That's the Umph dog. Get on the train!!! Make no mistake my friend, I loves me some moe., but UM quite simply blows them out of the water in just about every aspect. moe. on a good night is a great band, but they have a tendency these days to get a bit, shall we say, noodley. Josh Markey noooo way, bayliss is fuckin amazing, but garvey is way more tasty
Josh Markey cinninger*
Who cares who is better! If they get your feet moving without you thinking about getting your feet moving then isn’t that the point? You either feel it or you don’t! Silly arguments are pointless so just get your groove on!
we are so privileged to have someone like Waful crushing lights like none before him, it is really incredible
Thanks UM
Wow! Long time moeron throwin kudos to UM! Well done boys!
Hearing Umphrey's cover Moe. was the first time I've really listened to Moe. Not bad
moe. playing rebubula was one of my exposures to the jam band scene close to 20 years ago now. I really like rebubula and tried to get into more moe stuff but this is their only song I really liked. When it came to the whole jam band genre I found I liked umphreys and the disco biscuits much more.
Everybody finds their own way!
All I can say is I saw this live on my birthday. One Love.
Thought that was moe for a minute. Great job covering one of my favs!
Yeah they killed this Moe cover! Two great bands!
Crowd surfing, during Rebubula, at Umphrey's McGee. 4:26, you sir are the winner of the evening!
Still can't believe I missed this.
Amazing cover. Love it.
Great job covering that epic moe. song. I'm sure the band moe. & their fans agree. 👍 ✌ 🎸
Fantastic
5th time watching this... does not get old....
All those hippies on acid trying to figure out what band they're listening to...
MoeMurdaaaa \mm/
🤣🤣🤣
What a great cover of a tough song! Sorry to hear about their old drummer, Mike...I was really bummed when I heard the news.

yeah they definitely did justice to this killer moe. tune
I just love that umbrella.
one of the more esthetically pleasing stages,I've ever seen.
Yeah, Jeff Waful was moe.'s lighting designer at the same time he was Umphrey's. Now he just does Umphrey's. We need the Umph! Gotta have that Umph!
These guy's!!
"they do not stop getting better"
Oh My!
Everyone needs a little moe. umph
Its obvious that rage sticks can get in the way of a persons view of the show. Lots of people go to concerts to see the band as well as listen to them play.
MOE brought me here.....I think I'll find my way back to them now.
I love both versions. moe.'s version is definitely a bit looser and unique to them, just as this cover is unique to Umph. Both are excellent!
this guy on lights right now used to be Moe.'s light designer!
nice
did u guys get moe playing in the kitchen ughhhhhh id love to see that too i wish i was there this yr sooo bad
Lights!!!!!
6 people disliked.... all named Hellen Keller
hahaha, thanks for the laugh on this lovely saturday morning.
The light show's so good, Hellen Keller wouldn't be bored
+Billy Te well she was blind too sooo

She could feel those bass bombs in her chest tho...
I gotta say it again fer thee fuk uv it, Butttscratchhhaaahhh!!! ;p

"later that weekend*" this was Umphreys Friday night encore.
moe. played in the kitchen for their Saturday night encore.
lol yeah your wrong. no venues need licences for coveres lol haha thats too funny
A Pirrone I was wrong. Bands cannot sell cover* songs without consent/agreement from the original owner. Which is why we don't see some covers on the UM DVD's...but you're right...it's too funny!!!!
Fuck yeah is right!
That's pretty funny considering the fact that Waful was the lighting director for moe. before joining the Umphrey's crew.
perhaps the best cover they ever did. (fan since 2008)
down down down down down down

This is the definitive jam song. Would love to hear Panic cover this......
Great cover....although I feel like Stasik can't beat that bass like Rob can

Jeff Waful on the lights ladies and gentlemen
luv this one so much! thanx for sharing! :) philshzilla ('lil zill lol) :;) ph
How exactly is everyone suppose to be in the front row, on the rail, at 20,000+ show? It's not exactly possible.
rebubula is moe.'s tune... moe and UM swapped covers from each other @ summer camp
Missing the sweet percussion though
the red baron flys again. well played
At about 5:25 completely Brandon falls apart....SOUNDED JUST LIKE al. They even covered their Fuk ups right. Fuking amazing.
Wrong. Jim Loughlin is the percussionist in moe. Vinny does play drum kit. My opinion, Kris is the better drummer (over Vin), Jim is the better percussionist (over Andy). Just my opinion though! Both bands are great
no duh. how did you gather anything different from what he said?
eh, i wouldnt say they play it better than moe. but its still good.
Everything about Umphrey’s is better beside the vocals
you know it. (as long as they don't stop getting better; like most college athletes)
Silver platter style :)
Well I don't think that's what he's saying. I think he means, if you want a better view, go down front. If you are going to stand in the back, don't complain about not being able to see. why?
In my opinion they made Moes their song \mm/ such a fun Scamp
They killed it... then moe butchered in the kitchen... I LOVE UMPHREYS!!!!!!!
es lo mas parecido a PHISH
Dare I say they do it even better than moe.? They also do a cover of The Disco Biscuits' Home Again that is absolutely scorching. If you haven't heard it I HIGHLY recommend checking it out.
yeah waful knows how to light rebubula very weel
I would hope not, vinny plays percussion and kris plays a drum kit... Thats like comparing apples to apples you play standing up
You need permission to rerecord the song, not to play it live (unless you're recording a live album.
people dont really realize that most musicians take it as a huge compliment when other bands cover their music....covers are the shit, especially this one
this also was at Summercamp. Which Moe and Umph headline every summer. This also went down on their Hall of Fame Series.
their intro is really long, but the song kicks ass!
What the hell! 😵
vinny aint got shit on kris
Love the cover, but c'mon guys, you're UM... where is the subtle picking they do during the verses, instead of just chords? That's the best thing about the Bubs.. Satan and Al both laying down those nasty rifts.
what are you talking about they definitely arpeggiate this song
please end those stupid sticks
i still think the lights guy for moe. is more in sync with their music. granted this particular song is not theirs so he is not familiar with the timing. but overall i like moe.s light guy better
Icwudt
Everything sounds and looks better than Moe. Except lacking Robs voice

using a thesaurus doesn't make you any less of a D-bag
Wow.. Stasik sucks at covering this song.
Stevie wonder can play it better
