Thank you sir for the very informative video, I had a fault code on my G8 (American Holden) for injectors one and four, I tested the circuits the noid light and indeed the circuits were fine. I then tested the resistance of the injectors and one was not reading at all and the other was reading 1 megaohm. I pulled the system and replaced all 8 of them and found that there were 3 bad injectors not just the two. even though my car is a 6.0 not the 6.2 your video was spot on with the instructions. thank you from the other side of the planet :)
Holden mechanic charged me about $200 (part price only) for one injector in 2016. My 2007 L98 then with 120k km. Six months later another injector played up. So I simply bought a full set of eight Bosch injectors on Ebay for about $600, and did the job myself in 2-3 hours.
I did all 8 today after having a ESP code and engine light throwing a misfire code relating to number 5 injector. Number 5 was open circuit for me. Cheers for the video it was incredibly helpful.
Those inlet manifold bolts should be re torqued in correct sequence and no more than 10 nm…dont want to warp the inlet manifold of crack something. Thanks for the vid in any sense. I disconnected the battery during the injector change. Lucky i did the whole 8. Not only did i have #7 fail , i checked the lot and 4 and 5 had really odd and and high ohms of 33 and 28. The fault code and check engine light cleared on re application of battery. All was back to normal. Stuff you Holden Australia for not even wanting to cover this under goodwill…its a very well documented issue of injectors open circuiting. I just did it myself without the gorillas dealing with it.
Excellent video mate.just changed all mine today.had a faulty injector in cylinder #2. Replaced all of them with original part number replacements from Eagers Holden. Pretty easy job thanks to you.took me about 2 hours from start to finish. She is now purring like a kitten. Thanks heaps.👍
Great informative video i sadly have a faulty injector that i need to replace a most common issue along with collapsed radiator hoses and faulty radiators oh and the steering rack recall the only issue i have had great car other then that
Glad you enjoyed the video. At leased these aren't major problems, the Commodore has been around for a while now and is a trusted reliable vehicle. A lot of new car today are having recalls left right and centre, and some cant even be fixed as its a design fault resulting in class action lawsuits.
@redpillgarage I did. I have a Holden Caprice LS3 and just had my car put on the scanner and came up with number 6 injector shoot. So I'm going to have a go and do it myself. While I'm at it I'll replace all of them. But is it ok to still drive it? Cheers.
G'day @zoranrakic7640, there are fuel flow test kits out there, but your probably better of to take the injectors off and get a workshop to do the test for you, instead of buy the flow test kit which you'll probably only ever use the one time.
G'day @skynet1224, you can remove the hole rail with injectors and then remove clips and injectors on work bench. Just a quick tip, before removing injectors of the motor, gently use compressed air to blow any dirt around the injectors where it goes into the motor. Thank you.
@@redpillgarage all good I finally worked it out. I tested all mine and they were all 14ohms except injector #1 which was 30ohms. I’ve booked into Holden to try score replacement, as I know there’s has been wide spread issues with injectors on the LS3s.
2nd injector failed within 2 years of each other, car has less then 60k miles, are there better brand of injectors for LS3? I have lost confidence in these stock GM LS3 injectors...
G'day Geers Tyresoil, its hard to say there are a lot of good brands out there. Try giving Cool Drive a call or Burson Auto Parts. Ask what brands they stock and do they have any premature failures with a certain brands. This is probably the way to go about it to get a feel what brands are better than others. Also check how long the warranty is. You may also check any online forums with guys of the same car and year. I've never had a customer come back for a warranty claim for any injector install. What I normally do is call all 3 parts suppliers in this case ( Holden, Burson, and Cool Drive ) and have a good chat/feel of what brand and pricing I can recommend to the customer, most customers go for the cheaper option out of the 3 parts suppliers regardless of quality. I almost forgot to mention Rocket Industries, they also sell stock and high performance fuel injectors. Just make sure you tell them if your motor is stock or not, so you don't buy the wrong injectors ( lb/hr, cc ). One last thing, NEVER ever use E10 fuel it will damage your cars fuel system as E10 is Hydroscopic ( it attracts moisture and expires after 3 months ). Hope this helped and thanks for watching.
Im being told you need to do all 8 because once one.goes, the others will compensate to keep up with the new one, and it creates a domino effect. I'm also wondering if I should just go for an upgrade to better injectors
If you don’t have these expensive gadgets Get multimeter put on Ohms Holden LS should be around 11-14 ohms And no more than about 3 ohm difference between cylinders . Please do this before you start the expensive way of electrical and spark plugs This guy typical mechanic running straight out of the replace all before you find the fault
1) WRONG, What expensive gadgets? You can buy a code reader for $30, Noide light $20, multimeter $15, and a screw driver for a few dollars. If you watched the video approx. 12 Ohms resistance is within specs. 2) No where in the video I advise to replace spark plugs or you said " do this before you start the expensive way of electrical and spark plugs " I gave no indication in this method to replace spark plugs or use expensive electrical like you mention. You clearly did not listen to what I said in the video, did you? 3) Then you said " This guy typical mechanic running straight out of the replace all before you find the fault " Any one with half a brain that's watched the video knows this statement from you is a lie. The videos I make is to help people to fix their own car in an economical and reliable way that any good honest mechanic SHOULD DO for their customers. May be you should change your account name from Can Can to Can't Can't. Hope this helped.

Probably the best Holden ever made this model for performance handling and safety...
Hi Geoff,
Its a shame Holden stop making them, great cars.
@@redpillgarage Fords all the way Fords before Holden and Fords long after
In a few short years we'll be forced 😠 to drive electric cars. Battery replacements $8,000 - $30,000 won't matter if its a Ford or Holden.
@@redpillgarage I’ll be ok I have heaps of Alternators to me going haha

Do you have to change the fuel filter on a Commodore while doing the injectiors ? Thanks, top vid
No need, just replace it in the service when it's due.

Excellent video nicely explained. Is there a way to check how well injector is injecting like flow rate?

After you removed the 8 bolts and then you said you have to remove the injector retainer clip. Can i leave those on til i remove the fuel rail ? 😅

Great video mate. Man those clips are hard to remove from the injector. I’m struggling a bit. I’m Afraid of breaking them.
Hi, it won't break they'll just stretch a little. Don't worry because you'll get new ones if you're replacing the injectors. Thanks.

Will a bad injector cause o2 sensor codes?
Yes it is possible.
Hi do you have a workshop in Sydney?
G'day Jeff, I use to in the western suburbs not any more.
@Red Pill Garage Hi Mate, Do you do private Jobs?
G'day Jeff, not at the moment, but I can refer you to a good mechanic (02) 9609 6357 speak to Frank.
are bosch injectors good
Yes they are
Gosh those connectors suck
Agreed, I'll have a good old fashion hose clamp any day.
