  • K-swap car is certainly a better driver carrying more corner speed, and I suspect his car is lighter. I have a passenger in my 2AR. Performance difference power wise I would say they are a very close match.

    I'm guessing this is a stock motor. I think you'd benefit a lot from building the head (port and polish, titanium valves and retainers, and some cams). I'm glad you didn't just go for the K swap. There is great potential in the AR motors. Good luck.

      I have done all that uprated valve game on other engines but they don't have the longevity I'm looking for. Titianium valves and retainers have a short life and crack away. If you are a race team looking for every 0.1% at the cost of short rebuilds then its the way to go. But I do think I can find more air though my intake manifold and plenum, and a bit more gas though my exhaust system. Plus the new gearbox going in will have a shorter final drive which will make 4th gear way more potent.

    Im in the middle of modifying the 2AR head and to some extent the block to get the engine into the 350hp range NA in hopes to make it competitive with K series

      I think you'd have to rev it to 14000rpm 🤣

      No not 14k but definitely above 8 but should be able to get there before 10. There isn't much I've left on the table in terms of improvements. Honestly if I don't reach 350hp after a few different cam profiles I will start digging a hole to die in.

      @@alexhise968 There are lots of HP figures on youtube for the 2AR that are totally fictional. It is not a peaky engine, it makes fat midrange torque instead. To be bluntly realistic, to ever get over 100hp per litre out of any NA engine is a very tall order, you have to look at what engines can do it like bike engines, and they have a very different rod length to cylinder size geometry. I would be very surprised if any one can even get a legitimate 249bhp NA out of the 2494cc 2AR engine.
