    Awesome review. Like someone else commented I wasn't so sure on watching a 40min review but once I started I couldn't stop. Great stuff. Reckon in the future you could do a review on a Festool compound mitre saw? Im now subscribed and looking forward to more reviews like this.

    never mine, after testing dewalt dcs781 it a nice saw / but it is very LOUD miter saw also the rail are not so smooth / dust issue just fair. IT a very good saw but NOT for me / up for sale i guess, planning to buy the makita 40v 12inch miter saw. nice video

    When you were measuring the angle of the blade with the saw extended vs not extended, the flaw in the methodology was that the carbide tips of the blade are wider than the middle of the blade. Unless you measure edge to edge you will see a variance in angle.

    • @carterscustomrods
      @carterscustomrods Рік тому

      I'm not sure which part of the measurements you were referring to. When he was using the Klein or the Stabila?
      And, have you ever seen one of the DeWalt blades up close? Their carbide is so miniscule that it doesn't have much of a variance between kerf and blade thickness. Lol. So in all seriousness, I wouldn't see it affecting the measurements he did. But I'll go back and look again.

    • @stevenfoust3782
      @stevenfoust3782 Рік тому

      No! The teeth and the rest of the blade are at the angle indicated. Bevel cuts may show a difference in angle due to deflection where as miter cuts are generally more accurate. Basically the less material the blade has to travel through the more accurate it will be and cuts will be less stress on the saw

  • @carterscustomrods
    @carterscustomrods Рік тому +2

    I'm not sure if I seen it, but did you test the fence to the plate for 90° ? That's one major flaw I always experienced with every makita Miter saw. The fence would never be at 90° to the plate.
    Also, with previous Dewalt SCMS 779/780/790 , I'd need to calibrate it out of the box. Then, I'd need to sand the plate (base/table assembly they call it... where you rest the wood lol) because they would always have the outer edge of the plate a bit off and cause boards to lift up about 1 mm at the end of my cut.
    Also, I'd need to recalibrate it far too often.
    Lastly, I mightve missed it, but from my research, it doesn't appear to offer plug in power adapter anymore... that was one reallllly great aspect of the previous model that I wish all high end saws would use.
    In the end, no perfect SCMS exists. I'm still using my old 779 (type 20, before the butchered that saw) for cutting metals, and the 12" Bosch glide for wood. I'm always hoping a perfect saw will one day arrive, but I'm not holding my breath (unless someone is using a Milwaukee, because that dust is everywhere 🤣 🤣 🤣.

      The perfect saw is always going to be the dream. Now days it’s really how close can we get.
      But yeah no more adapter for plug-in. At least not yet. I would imagine they ran some numbers and figured it wasn’t worth the extra investment.

    Looks like a good saw but still went with a makita 40v 12 inch and love that saw and seems dewalt have smaller cutting capacity than the makita , the only downside with makita is the weight but paired with bosch gravity rise mitre saw stand makes transporting very easy , battery on makita lasts for long time on normal use I get 4-5 hours of moderate use and have 2 40v ah batteries so there is no downtime there , also could be the design or the motor that makes effortless cutting no matter what you cut either hardwoods or softwoods , pricewise the saw and the stand costs here in Canada around 2000$ still cheaper than festool kapex , so I am happy with makita , had bad experience with milwaukee both 10" and 12" mitre saws and the bosch 12" profactor has very big deflection at the extended lengtht, so either dewalt or for few extra hundreds go for makita

      @@4thewinak thank you :). I own a construction company. I use three different trim crews, depends on their availability. Anyway all the crew are owned by first generation European immigrants (Bosnia, Croatia and Ukraine)! Anyway they love their Festool tools BUT 100% of these crews run Dewalt miter and table saws. All run corded units. Their track saws, sanders and vacuums are festool. I’ve asked them why Dewalt. Their answers have consistently been this (1) “it’s what we learned on” (2) their indestructible (3) their affordable yet decent quality.

    I have both the dhs716 and dhs790 and this new 60v saw sounds underpowered. Just by the way it's cutting it appears to be labouring. No load rpm is the same at 3800 but the amperage draw cannot be equal between the two as the first gen has 2 batteries vs the second generations single battery.

    • @hewlett260
      @hewlett260 Рік тому +2

      This saw is not underpowered compared to the two you have. I have this one and it cuts everything I put under it smooth as butter. Built a planter out of old pallets for my wife using 6x6 corner posts. Best two things on the newer model are the battery life and dust collection. Made all my cuts in the garage with a shop vac hooked up and there was hardly anything to clean off the saw or the bench.

    One 9 amp hour battery is not better than two 6 amp hour batteries. The two 60 volt battery system means that you can use a 120 volt corded adapter. This isn't possible with the new saw. Whats more is the fact that 6 amp hour batteries are ubiquitous on job sites. The 9 amp hour batteries... not so much. And have you priced the difference between 6/9 amp hour batteries? Big difference for us small contractors/home owners.

    • @4thewinak
      @4thewinak  Місяць тому

      Depends on which way you look at it. the 2x 60v batteries will be in series at 120v allowing it to operate more efficiently and draw less current. Also allow you to use the AC adapter.
      Single battery means operating at 60v and will need more current thus being less efficient (assuming all is equal).
      Personally I don't mind dual battery systems as most people using these tools will have multiple batteries, but some people seem against it.
