Absolutely stunning tank! The coral growth is incredible. Not really a fan of the bare bottom look at all, but the reef looks fantastic! Cool fish selection too.
That is one awesome reef bro but how is it that the bottom of the reef is so crystal clear clean? The whole entire time I'm looking at the bottom tank saying you don't see that often. Thanks Dev for such a wonder show and tell.
The bottom is vinyl wrapped black so it keep the light from reflecting back and causing coralline algae. Been there and I hated it. Honestly, I don’t ever scrap the bottom just a biweekly syphon all the detritus.
The tangs seems to get along quite well. Was they introduced all at the same time from your previous tang? How do you keep your glass this clean? Seems like the rocks are kinda close to the back glass panel. Congrats on this amazing tank!
Gorgeous tank! Amazing colonies. 🤩 What are the dimensions? Impressed you could fit so many Tangs in there - but I can totally understand why. I love Tangs 💙 Super nice and inspiring. ❤️
Apex has been rock solid for about a year and a half, customer service is solid but not perfect. Apex user platform is much better than profilux, it’s very user friendly and extremely intuitive. On the other hand, Profilux hardware is much more robust than Neptune and in my opinion, a better built product all around. If you are looking for longevity, go profilux but be prepared to spend some time to understand the programming.
no no, the return pump is rated for 4800gph but by the time it gets the water back to the display through all the 90's and head pressure, it is probably half or maybe 1/3 of the rated flow. I also have a bypass on the fleece roller.
Running trident, Alk 8ish cal 440-480 mag 1200-1300 no3 is quite low right now 0.5 po4 is 0.1, a bit unbalanced so I am running rowaphos to bring the po4 down and taking the biopellets off line.
@@richardshen274 ooh i have added those recently. Whats your experience with siporex. Its big in europe but not many people using it in North America. Does it really help with nitrates?
I do like them since they are formed out of glass and do not deteriorate overtime. I do give them a good shake every few months to keep them detritus free.
@@richs9633 Yes I'm doing same. I was around 50 nitrates. After 4 to 6 months of carbon and bacteria dosing. Plus couple of massive water changes now my nitrates are around 2. So will be dosinf nitrates soon to keep them around 4 and 5.

Beautiful tank! I remember seeing it in one of the Canadian reef facebook groups. That rainbowloom colony is ridiculous!
Beautiful tank
Awesome, Rich! I can't wait to see it again :)
Beautiful reef tank 👍👍👍
Beautiful reef 👍👍👍🍻

Nice!

Thanks a lot! The dimension of the tank is 48x28x20h custom built by concept aquarium in Calgary.
Gonna try to shoehorn a gem tang in there in the future, fingers crossed lol
Where can we hear more about this setup? RC or Reef2Reef? Amazing growth? CA Reactor setup?
Very nice. I would love to hear what he has to say about the Apex. I'm looking for a controller my self.
Got nothing bad to say about the apex, Terrance is a duche but that’s about it lol
awesome tank @@richs9633 what was your experience with the profilux that made you switch to apex? hope you can share

I switched cause my close friends pitched in and got it for me on my birthday lol
@@richs9633 i need to get friends like those :D
how does he keep the bottom glass so clean..!
Black vinyls bottom, never ever scrape the bottom once but it just stays clean
Successful reef tanks do not need a controller sir.
No, absolutely not but it does make your life a lot easier.
Does this reefer have a build thread. I would like to see more on his rock scape before the corals took over.
Ugh...lol I think it’s on reef2reef under bblinks. I haven’t updated for a long time.
@@richs9633 what modes : percentages do you run the mp40’s and gyres?
@@spooky4109 40-100 on LTC mode and a bunch of random settings on the MP40s, ramps up to 100 percent
@@richs9633 surprised that doesn't blow the lps you have on the bottom about, but guess they got some rock covering!
@@spooky4109 they don’t open fully but they are okay. I do feed a lot so it keep them health and strong against the current.
what salt he is using?
How often do you do the RedSea amino acids? I just started using them, but I think daily might be too much?
How are the reefbrites attached to the radion rail?
I made the brackets from cheap 90 degree aluminum strips and bolted them together with stainless steel hardware.
Gotta love a little DIY!
If his filter roller can only handle 1500gph then that’s all his return pump is sending to the tank. He thought he was pumping almost double that?

Did he mean abbotsford BC.???
Sounds about right :)
Can you please share your fish list with me?
why bother upgrading the lights.
What’s the tank specs? Size? Brand?
Custom tank. 6’x24x24 ish
What do you guys think ballpark is for the corals in this tank
lots! :)
I can't even gauge that right now...lol it was definitely cheaper growing them out from frags minus some of the lps.
