at least she didn't copy Michelle Obama's speech lol
True that.
Facts
"Oh, I fell in love with Mitt. My dad was a coal miner."
What? Absolutely no transition whatsoever.
And you also could've have a First Lady who was a stepford wife in training.....thank God the rest of the country knew better...OBAMA ROCKS!!!!
jdnightwing 5 years later and trump pulled us out of Obama’s mess and Obama goes down as the worst president in the world.
And the only president to be elected over his skin color
@@christopherdraper5815 ok racist.
@@christopherdraper5815 Well the first part of your comment didn’t sit well, Trump didn’t pull us out of a mess, his mishandling of the Covid-19 pandemic made the USA end up having the most amount of deaths in the world.
Obama didn’t get voted because of his skin color.
"I want to talk to you about my heart about our hearts."
-Holds for applause-
Akward silence
-Poeple begin to cheer to avoid the awkward silence-
If anything at least this speech was good for a laugh.
She's heard stories about how hard it is to get ahead. Imagine that!
"I LOVE YOU WOMEN!!!!!!!!!!"
wow. I hope Mitt opens his speech "I LOVE YOU MEN!!!!"
-Stephen Colbert, The Colbert Report
I like her and Gov Romney ran a decent respectable campaign....but I am so glad they lost.
why?
bob colley Because I doubt he would have been able to achieve the promises he made
you a Hillary supporter?
bob colley I'm an America supporter, and we made a colossal mistake Nov 8
he much better than The Clinton and the bushes.
She loves women enough to think they don't deserve equal pay for equal work. Liberty and justice for all.
This isn't supposed to be political. Its supposed to make the presidential candidates seem like real people, to make them seem relatable
It seems that Ann was waiting for applause to begin during her speech whilst Michelle was waiting for the applause to end during hers.
What is wrong is that people truly believe that there is a choice between two parties when in fact there is none.
Were you hatched or born of a Mother? Women are the backbone of America....the hand that rocks the cradle rocks the nation is an old saying, but maybe you don't know how to really ROCK!
I don't think she knows what she is talking about. She just said what they told her to say.
Excellent woman - even more proud she stayed at home with their five boys - NO easy task. Excellent work ANN!!
After the first five minutes of Michelle Obama's speech my heart was racing and my eyes were wet with tears. After five minutes of Ann Romney's speech I started nodding off to sleep. I just cannot relate to Ann Romney.
Anger??? When have you ever witnessed her being angry and resentful? Sounds like you're reaching.
Takes a while for her to get going. I think she is really nervous at first. But then it gets pretty good. I applaud her tenacity and strength through the trials she has faced in her life. Hope her husband can dig deep and be the leader she says he will be. Personally I am getting really tired of politicians making things consistently worse and worse.
Back when the GOP was still the GOP,and not the GQP.
I have to say, I agree with you - it seems she was focused about making sure we understand Mitt Romney is a human being and not a corporation while Michelle spoke of America's dream as she and many cited fighters for equality and rights have fought for it to be and what it can still be. Worth comparing for sure.
this doesn't even deserve to be compared to the quality of michelle's honest, and heartfelt speech.
"This man will not fail." He did last night (thank goodness)
This is something that shocks me, why does everybody want to tear others down. What would it be like if you or I was up there. This was a very good speech. Listen to what is said. Its refreshing, it is good to know that someone is speaking from the heart. Honest and fair as can be. Concerned for the right things that we are taught since childhood. Good values that give credit to human kind, instead of demeaning towards others. Im tired of Leaders that tear others down. This is what we need!
"I LOVE YOU WOMEN!!!.... but i can't allow you to make decisions concerning your own body on your own."
She pretty much knocked that one out of the park!
LOVE her!!!! They are a great team and what we as a nation need!!!!
Insincere and rehearsed or not, I LOVE that line "Mitt Romney was not handed success, HE BUILT IT". A perfect counterpoint to Obama's claim that if you own a successful business, you didn't build that.
It's not even fair...well, except for the fact that she's been all around the country and she knows a lot of us guys (insert uncomfortable Barbie and/or Elmo giggle).
This will provide tremendous skits for SNL.
Ann Romney should be on Saturday Night Live.
5:07 "We are the mothers, we are the wives, we are the grandmothers, we're the big sisters we're the little sisters and we are the daughters. you know it's true, don't you?" what the f is she talking about?
I too watched this speech to compare it with Michelle's, and while my eyes did not tear during Ann's speech, her speech wasn't any less relatable. Her story is common and people look for someone to relate to. Though I hate to throw race into this, Michelle's speech was possibly more heart felt because she was not only the voice of many women, but she is the primary voice for black women. She is someone Ann can never represent, a strong BLACK woman. Though Ann is strong, she will never be black.
I had absolutely NO CLUE what this speech was about!
I know someone who will work harder and care more than Mitt Romney will...
Most of us define "going to work" as something you really don't have a choice about doing. Being able to choose whether to do your work at home (raising children) or at a business is a privilege, and I think you know that's where the critique here is coming from. We all have to pay our bills. We don't all have to have five children.
I like how she turned her BIG ASS DIAMOND ring around so no one could see it.
Condeleeza looks like she ain't even buying it. LOL.
THIS is show a First Lady should sound... First Class, all the way...
I also liked how Michelle's speech talked about his positions on issues without bad mouthing the opponent. Where did Ann's speech talk about is issues?
Didn't like that she constantly waited for applause. I believe she is sincere just not relatable. This man will not fail...pretty strong words to live up to in this broken government we are faced with. Nice touch though with Mitt coming out at the end.
There's a huge disconnect here. Am I the only one who feels this way?
Ohmygosh. The point of Ann Romney and Michelle Obama's speeches were to make the candidates seem more relatable! Why does no one understand this?!
WTF does she know about gas prices? I bet she has no clue how much it cost her to fill up her Hummer H1 yesterday.
"We don't belong to the government...the government belongs to us !! "
Romney 2012!!!!
If that's what he/she was referring to and not abortion then I do agree it is about women making decision concerning their own bodies. Although I don't think even Republicans were trying to make BC illegal, the whole debate was over whether or not the government should force the insurance companies to cover it or if women should co-pay for it, *not* over whether or not they have the right to take it, I think most people would agree that they do.
Michelle's speech made me well-up. She only succeed in making me roll my eyes.
There is no difference between a "rape baby" or any other baby. But i think there is a difference between raising a child you want with someone you love and having to raise a child by yourself when you are not ready for it. I believe that a twelve year old girl who is raped should not have to raise a child by herself if she does not want to. I am 15 years old and feel that most people my age would not have the maturity or responsibility to raise a child...
Michelle killed that speech.... I was speechless... Michelle thumbs up times infinity! Ann Romney... eh well you know...
She did amazing! She is REAL! American has gotten so out of touch with what is true and meaningful in life and in America. It sure would be nice to have an American president & his wife who LOVE America!!
Notice the way she raises her nose to the audience ... as if she's looking down at everyone. When Michelle spoke, she spoke with her chin down and and more engaged with everyone.
I can't believe my own generation. Are we this backwards that we now think it okay to disrespect a woman just because she might view the world differently? Why the name calling? This is incredible.
She seems to be waiting for applause.... people don't know when to clap for her....
Ann Romney's speech was written at 5th grade level, Michelle Obama's was at 12th grade.
i'm not an american. i've watched both michelle's and ann's speeches. i felt more for michelle's speech. she meant what she said, there's much conviction, i believed. i want to be a democrat!
Ann Romney is Gorgeous
I don't have a right to criticize this speech as I could only listen to 1/2 of it before I gave up, but I can say that Mrs. Obama's got my full attention. Maybe its because I could relate more to her and Pres. Obama's struggles growing up, but that's just me....
"Mitt doesn't like to talk about how he has helped others" because the only person Mitt has ever helped is Mitt.
It sounds like she hired Oprah as a speaking coach. " I LOVE YOU WOOOOMEEEEN!" and "HEEEE BUIIIILT IIIIIIIT!".... just wow
Just watched both Ann and Michelle's speeches. Big differences I noticed. 1 Where are the people of color in attendance at Ann's speech? I think I counted 4 or 5 and one of those was Condi. I am white but this speaks volumes to me. Ann talked about how she and Mitt were poor during college days-who isn't during those times? She also talked about how she has "heard" about family struggle-where Michelle talked about how they lived it. Ann's speech lacked the heartfelt emotion of Michelle's.
I think it's clear who's speech was better, the first lady is seasoned and polished, whereas Ann is a beginner. What lost me was her stating how she feels for women WTF! Does she not know where her husband stands on women's issues? I feel that as president you have no choice but to think about (even if you don't agree) and include every POV, we ALL have a dream, and we should be able as Americans to live and love our own way. Choices are power and I don't get that from Romney.
if you don't pay attention to the content, it seems like she is giving a speech at a women's country club and had her punch spiked.
I could not relate to her story like I did with Michelle. She is probably a very nice woman, but Michelle moved me more.
And why would I envy someone like Romney? I don't want to be a millionaire, too many negatives with it. I don't want to be a politician who has more than half the country hating me, and I sure as shit don't want 5 fucking kids. Again, keep the comments coming. You're making my day.
Ann said that Mitt makes her laugh at around 8:00. Hey Ann, Mitt also makes the democrats laugh.
People who don't like the "you didn't build that" line from Obama did not listen to what he was saying. Mitt couldn't have built his business if he didn't get an education. How about the roads he used to get to work? His employees that worked hard at his business? Everything we achieve in our lives is accomplished because of those who raised us, support us, and have given their lives so we have the opportunity. That's the root of the "you didn't build that" statement.
Ann: "This is the man who will work harder than anyone so that we can WORK A LITTLE LESS HARD" (so taking shortcuts, letting someone else do all the work, riding coattails is something you value?) VS. Michelle "If we want to give them...that belief that here in America there is always something better out there if you're willing to work for it. Then we must WORK LIKE NEVER BEFORE." (a hard work ethic, something I thought America stood for but maybe not according to Ann...)
You may call that women you "a c*nt", and that man "a compulsive liar", it's your right. But they've still done more to serve this country and its fellow citizens then you're doing.
I'm watching this...and wondering if she's ever going to say anything. But I'm not hearing much. I LOVE YOU WOMEN!
I've never seen this video before and now I know why. Good job disliking it internet!
It's odd looking back that the internet during 2012 was decidedly on the side of Obama. Which is ironic, because the sort of 'very online' demographic strongly backed Trump in '16.
That's how nearly all "political" speeches are... better off just not watching them.
She is a better politician than her husband and should be running. I don't think she'd let herself be caught up or tripped up in the lies. Yes, she's appealing to the female vote (not necessarily Causasian, just the hard working mom) and trying to align her story to every day Jane and Joe Doe. Her reality was never mine. She doesn't have to worry about insurance catastrophes clauses running out, medicare, nor about retirement benefits fading. Listen between the party lines, we'll be back to 2008
I served my country, what did Mitt do? Dodge the Vietnam Draft five times, avoided paying his taxes and sent American Jobs overseas. What true Patroit
It took 8 years for our country to get to this point and I say we should give democrats and Obama at least 8 to fix it I don't think our President has failed but it is hard to make improvement anywhere when ideas are attacked and voted down simply because of the person who has suggested it. As a mother as a woman I just do not connect with Mrs. Romney I have listened to both Mrs. Romney and our first lady and they have helped me make my choice I do agree with Mrs. Romney we are not dumb enough
This speech is so painful to watch... I don't even know where to begin critiquing it, so I'll just leave it at that.
Mitt doesn't agree with Mitt's positions on issues....how is anybody else suppose to?!?
I would gladly answer your question. First of all having children and an illness has nothing to do with your character or an intellect. I would like to think women can do a lot more than those two to gain respect. She is wealthy and I am sure had some help to raise her children. You don't need to go to college to be intelligent. She could have read books at home. The first lady should be a role model. I am 26 years old and don't ever want to be like her.
Just watched Michelle Obama's speech at the DNC and am now watching Ann's speech. There is no comparison. Michelle's speech was moving, inspirational and heartfelt. Ann's speech feels forced, over-rehearsed and lacking in sincerity. I hope America is smart enough to stick with the Obamas this coming election!
It did didn't it...I was just waiting for "Live from New York!"
LOL I LIKE HOW THE KID AT 10;52 LOOKS AROUND LIKE THESE OLD FARTS MADE ME COME HERE
i wonder if the 1,198 dislikes watched the full video and heard Ann finals words about her humble husband... I wonder if they heard about how she admits they are not perfect but that they have honest good intentions for this country.... I'm worried that, that many people dislike that notion of a honest good Nation
I have tried to find a way to say this and u just did it perfectly! thanks
IF you truly "love" women then let them make their own decisions about our OWN body.
That was the most profound, clever, logical and well put together speech I have heard in years .... NOT!
Great speech by Ann Romney. From the heart and on target about what she knows about her husband and what women across America care about. An honest politician who will do what he says and had proven it time and time again. We need an adult this time around who will tackle the tough issues and not whine about what he inherited from the previous administration. We've tried the "cool" President, not lets try a serious businessman.
Wow. I feel kinda sorry for Mrs. Romney, which is ironic considering her and her husband are way better off financially than I am. I don't begrudge her---you can tell she loves her husband a whole lot. But I've got bills to pay and jobs to find and knowing that the first lady loves her husband does nothing for me personally. I wish her well but they both seem very detached from reality and the RNC's audience seems like a whole different plane unrepresetative of America
"Mitt doesn't like to talk about how he's helped others..." because he doesn't.
appealing to women, yet we don't get the right to make our own decisions for our health and bodies. and really, appealing to women that only "work" because they have to.... she doesn't even talk about how women are actually held back, or the strong independent woman.
Oh I am sure she does - America is made of woman staying home supporting their husband aspirations (and raise the children as sole job ... welcome to the land of true opportunity for all).
Why does Michelle Obama sound so much more sincere, passionate and honest rather than this!!! sorry Ann really ....but Michelle's words are much more from the heart and more touched my heart than this artificial speech....Michelle u rock!
...I thought for sure she was going to say Money, not love. *insert awkward ann romney giggle* Is this the best the republicans could offer to try to dispute the "war on women?"
ann romney likes 26%
michelle obama likes 93%
I said the EXACT same thing you said. Smh! This speech was terrible.
So why is it that liberals say Romneys speech was horrid, and his wife's speech even worse, but republicans say both speeches were amazing? Its bias, get over yourselves and listen to what they say. Im an independent and have weighed both sides. If you listen to what they have to say and how sincere they are you will find they are pretty equal speeches.
"So their kids could feel like, you know, like other kids" Because if you are poor you are not like other normal kids, everybody knows that!
I really hope Ann Romney is gonna be our next first lady. Especially after seeing Michelle Obama tonight . Ann is elegance, beauty, warmth vs Michelle's anger, resentment, hate and yes, complete lack of elegance.
No First Lady!
is it just me that she think and act like she's some sort of royalty? Very British upper-class vibe from her.
I came to watch Ann Romney after watching Michelle Obama. I will vote Democrat in November.
mayb one big big reason taht makes mitt romney a great man its because of his wonderful wife and family its so sad he lost the election
I thought she was fabulous. I don't get why people are so angry about their success. They have worked hard for what they have and have been generous with their time and money. I agree there is getting to be less and less difference between the two parties, but I still keep hoping our elected officials will start putting our country ahead of trying only to get reelected. We desperately need term limits.
They are truely a beautiful couple.
Ann Romney: "Mit does not like to talk about how he has helped others because he sees it as a privilege, not a political talking point."
Me: "Then why are you talking about it ?!"
