Thanks for checking out the video! Timestamps for important steps in the process are in the description! I hope this tutorial can be a bit more helpful / insightful than the last one. I wanted to try explaining why everything needs to work the way it does, just so you have context for why we're doing every step. As a teacher (outside of YT), it's important to me that everyone understands why and how certain steps are being done. If you have any more questions, leave a comment! EDIT: There is an easier way to apply the second layer textures than what I showed. You can click CPM > Add Part > Second Layer, then select all your second layer parts. Then, right-click the texture, and select Apply to Elements. You will still have to resize the arm if you are using a slim model, but it is much easier than what I discussed. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!!
4:20 If you create a Minecraft Skin and then convert the model (top left under File -> Convert Project -> Change Format to CPM Model) It will have the second skin layer, so you don't have to add it manually

Just a quick heads up, when you add the 2nd layer, select the layer objects and drag the texture to the box in the top left and adjust them so they're in the right place
Love how yt has started showing me interesting Minecraft videos from smaller creators on my homepage this last week :D commenting to keep the algorithm boost going
Expanding the texture is alot easier than the way your doing it :D right click the texture, go up and click into crop/scale, and make sure your on crop/expand, then just change the size to whatever you desire!!! i usually do 128/128 (double what you start with) this is a great tutorial tho! i had to brave cpm by myself so im glad seeing people making tutorials!
found a way to use second layer without duplicating and switchung the uv and stuff, it's simple, you'll need to go to cpn and press 2nd layer BEFORE changing the texture of the skin to your skin.
Its incredibly rare to find comprehensive, easily understood tutorials on youtube, at least in my experience, and this one is incredibly helpful. Good job on the video, and thanks for sharing some knowledge with the world!

For those of us who don't feel like downloading extra software, you can change the image size in MS Paint. I'll try to describe the process here. - Open MS Paint (or just paint on windows 11). - Drag and drop the image file you're using for your skin into MS Paint. - Zoom into the image to see it close up. Either use the zoom slider at the bottom, or use the key board shortcut "Ctrl" + "+". I recommend zooming all the way in. - You should notice a few numbers at the bottom left of the software. The left most one is your mouse position. The second is your scale tool position. The third is your current scale. The third should say 64 x 64 px. - You should also see tiny boxes along the outside perimeter of the box. Left click and hold the right middle box. Another set of numbers down below should appear saying 64x64px. - Click and drag the right middle box until it says 128x64px. - Save the image as shown in the video. Sorry if this feels like i'm saying obvious information, I just wanted to be as explicit as I could.

I stumbled upon this randomly and I’m not disappointed, I’ve been messing with models and animation stuff for bit now, because I have a project I’ve been wanting to do and trying to work on, half of that being how to code for mods because of everything I want to do with it. Anyways I’ve made a few blockbench models which I’m quite happy with but I always found it restricting in the angles I can work with, some of those models I want to do some texture animations and whatnot but I don’t think I’ll get much animation done in blockbench especially when I want to get whole scenes in, learning blender and how to code is a pain, but I know it’ll be worth it in the long run for what I want to do. Though I do think i have found a mod that I’m going to use continuously now along side the others I always use, i definitely found this interesting and seems like it’d be easy to follow along in some way so kudos 👍🏻
good tutorial! for anyone confused why their CPM plugin may look different than in the video (mainly missing the animation tab), apparently the plugin is in beta and has issues with parts of it breaking when installing it. I ended up installing it a bunch of times in a row and praying, and eventually it somehow worked. no clue how or why any of this happens but hopefully this comment will help a desperate soul like myself.

Can you do a video for bedrock like a 128x128 skin. And I found out that you can make it work when it comes to animating and adding cubes. You'll need to select minecraft legacy. But idk how to import nor animate, nor make a 3d model. It would be a huge help if you can make a video. And imma subscribe because of the detail you add when explaining.
what iron-mage said cause thats how i found the guy thats making a realistic spider walking animation in minecraft and showing it off with shaders of all things
18:32 i cant see the compress template option for some reason
did you find out how to fix it?
@ValentineR0seI made the model without it i don't think it's very important
@@M4lfucnt10ned ah okay, asking due to my textures automatically compressing and i dont want to do my textures in the mod
This tutorial is very good and easy to follow! the only snag i hit is when you mentioned unchecking the "Compress Template" option. I don't have this option and when i just go ahead and create the texture, it compresses the image. was there something i did wrong as to why the option does not appear?
did you ever figure out the reason? My brother is also having this issue.
Very nice, but what I want to learn is how to do custom hat textures that can be overlayed onto a pumpkin
@@KalendorStorm I can make a video about custom models in a texture pack if wanted. That’s the best option for what you’re looking for.
Thank you!
maybe they updated the software idk but u can choose to display outer layers now when creating the skin project and when you import the skin they will be displayed automatically
Hello! I recently got really interested on making a mod similar as origins but with actual races with custom models, i will use Kleiders could you make a tutorial for that mod? Im still learning how to use Blockbench and mod making
