    Maybe use your large roasting electric pan for your overnight cook of the broth? Then it’s not on the stove?

    Anna thanks for this video. I love using the "cheater" instant minute rice. I'm a senior & we get food boxes every month. There is always pkgs of rice & beans in them. My son bought me an instant pot & a dehydrator so I'm giong to give this a try. Have a great day.

    I roast my bones in my roasting electric pan. Once the bones are roasted I add the water, onions and such a slow cook for the broth.

    Just a tip.. I use my elec water-bath canner to do my broth in then I let it sit for a bit (all the settlements fall below the spout .then I just fill jars from the water spout an it saves me the step of straining.. Blessings ❤️got the idea from kneady homesteader

    I put small dehydrated food like celery or peas in a large measuring cup so it can be easily poured into a jar.

    I heard you talking about the instant rice on Monday’s live. I am definitely trying that out. Plus, learned something new on today’s video ~ I can use parchment paper with my dehydrater!! Mine didn’t come with the special flats (I guess you can call them that 😉). I may purchase them in the future but for now parchment!! 😃. Again, thank you!!

    Believe it or not I had just put beef bones in the crock pot without roasting them. I quick pulled them out and stuck them in the oven. Thanks for the warning! I'm canning beef for the first time.

    Just have to say what I've been thinking. Where I used to live I had your exact kitchen cabinets. I liked the simplicity but always felt they needed something, but couldn't find a style of hardware that I thought would work. I couldn't paint but thought that would be great. Now I think a white or gray stain would look awesome. I assume you're not even thinking of this because I wouldn't, I'd probably still have half of my boxes to unpack!!! 💗

    Your advice on roasting the beef bones is going to be a game changer for me! I've made beef bone broth once in the pressure cooker and it smelled absolutely horrid! The entire house smelled terrible and tested my gag reflex. This looks like it would actually smell good.

    "It will taste like a nasty butthole" Oh my gosh you make me laugh. You are killing it with the challenge. I make huge batches of broth in my electric water bath canner and let it simmer for days. The last time i did the beef soup bones I had my fire alarms going off at 5 in the morning. they get smoky.

    Hey Anna,
    I am a fairly new subscriber, picked up your channel when you were doing the book club, you are awesome, I do try to match your energy, but…..I inevitably fall way short! Sour dough September, what a great idea, I have always been intimidated by the whole process, somehow I know you will make it
    easy for us to understand. Now, I may have missed this but could you let us know what we will be needing to start making sourdough, I’s there any special
    bowls, lids, flour, etc., etc…?
    Thanks ever so much,
    Suek

    • @FermentedHomestead
      @FermentedHomestead  Рік тому

      Nothing special required but the flour is helpful and some sort of clear tall vessel to keep it in. I did start one in todays video if you want to check it out!

    Anna, do you know if it's possible to dehydrate brown rice or wild rice? Or are there too many fats for it to be shelf stable.
    Thanks 😊

    • @FermentedHomestead
      @FermentedHomestead  Рік тому +1

      I would imagine it to be as shelf stable as the original rice, if not a bit more! I’ll look into that though because I was curious too!
