It worries me that people will deal with someone who contacts you out of the blue, but this happens not just with car insurance but people losing their pensions
Thanks, I always use a comparison site, sometimes after I have got a renewal quote from my existing provider, I go on a comparison site, and see the same company offering me cheaper than my renewal. I sometimes have to contact my existing provider and tell them I am leaving, they then say"Let me look at the quote and see what we can do", I tell them to get lost, you should have given it your best shot first time.
The rules have changed now and they always have to offer the same price to existing customers as they do to new customers. It’s a new FCA rule that involves a lot of red tape and report which has unfortunately cost the insurers millions to implement so will make our insurance cost more generally but will mean those stupid situations become a thing of the past.
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru Yes I understand they are the new rules, but does not stop the "Lets see what we can do" scam which gives them a second bite of the cherry. But as your video shows, you have to be aware, and try to be one step ahead, even legit insurers will try plenty of tricks to take your money. Please keep up your channel, it is very useful, and interesting.
Parents who watch your channel should take note and advise their newly driver qualified chilren, of your warning, which is very timely as always. Young drivers do seem to be the most vulnerable to this scam, because of the exorbitant costs of their insurance.
Yes, tough for young drivers but there are various ways to bring the price down for the careful ones in the first year or two these days (black box devices and curfews etc).
Hi someone used my name as additional driver on their insurance. And then made a claim on my name, all without my knowledge. Now my insurance is saying why didnt I report this to them
Hi there, i bought a car and it was classed as a modified car but i wasn't aware, i put "no mods" into the insurance and then when they came out too fit the black box they saw it was modified and told me too search else wear, ever since then all the cheap companies don't offer me quotes anymore, how do i know if i have a marker on my name? and how do you get around this? Such a small mistake had lead me too the worst situation, pls help
Well you need to disclose that you've had insurance cancelled by an insurer which will immediately turn a lot of them off. I'd get on the phone to the company that cancelled with you and plead that you were unaware of the mods - what were they exactly?
Hi, I've got a question regarding car insurance. On 2022 I made a claim which was other parties faulty. Basically, I had my car parked on side of the road and a bus scraped off some paint on the sides. I wasn't even presnt in the car when the incident occurred. The bus driver had left a note with their contact details but I called my insurer instead to report the incident. My insurer asked me if I wanted a replacement car so that my car could be repainted. I said ok. But I had change of mind and didn't sign the agreement form. Since it was just a little scratch. Now in my insurance policy, under the calim section they've marked me 'at fault'. Clearly it wasn't my fault. I tried to amend the misatke by calling my insurance company, but they've been tossing me around everywhere. It would be great help if you could let me know the legal procedures. Thank you!
Hi, a claim will always go down as being a fault claim if no recovery is made; your insurer should have sorted your car and then claimed from the bus company (bus companies often self insure so it can be quite a simple process). If anything like this happens to you with a bus again, go direct to the bus company.
👍👌thanks for the info Jim 🙏… if they’re communicating with me via social media they’ll be waiting a very long time for an answer 🤣 It pays to be out of the loop sometimes 😉
This has just happened to me, bought a new car, went through a broker I found on Facebook sent him all my correct details he got the quote for me, seemed all good 2 days into my policy I received an email saying they going to cancel my policy due to wrong info provided, I didn’t see the email till after my policy was cancelled so now I have a cancelled policy on my name which I can’t get rid off and can’t get insurance from anyone. Has anyone got any suggestions on what to do or how to go about this. Ive called the company and explained my situation but they can’t do anything about it. Someone please help!!
@goodfella0073 is probably too late now. I had my insurance cancelled because someone gave the wrong information on a work vehicle i was driving and fraudulently used my address and my 1st name as a company name, very long story. I reported it to the police and got a crime reference number, which then triggered off an investigation from the fraud investigation team within the insurance company that cancelled my policy. The card used to make the payments wasn't mine, contact details, i.e. telephone and email, wasn't mine. The person they spoke to on the phone who took out the policy wasn't me. They voided the cancellation and refunded me my premium in full + compensation. I had it cancelled a 2nd time due to the same issue 3 years later, and I was compensated a 2nd time by the insurance company that 1st cancelled my policy because they failed to inform my insurance that I was a victim of fraud when they were contacted about the cancellation. I think it's worth contacting a law firm who deals with this sort of thing. Customer service won't help you. I was lucky at the time, I was seeing a lady who was legally clued up and dealt with it for me. Don't waste your time calling customer services. Report it to the Police, get a crime reference number, and get legal advice.
Bro , iam a victim of insurence fraud , i just took and insurence from and agent and he gave me a insurence cover with a good price and i accepted it after a few months , i've got a text message that (We've cancelled your policy from 29/03/2023. Hi , so what happened is , i took insurence with agent , so that agent gave my fake details to the insurence company and gave me with cheap quote . Wihtout even knowing i just took it and you know i drove the car for several months and one day i've got mail from the insurence company that they are gonna cancel it , i've tried to contact the agent but he didnt picked up the call so i contacted the company and they told that the agent gave fake details of me which led to cancel the policy
