i will give you a tip i have worked in an auto body repair shop and i know a bit so when sanding down dont apply too much pressure because you might dent in the panel that you are working on, also dont lean the sander on the edges because that can create hi/low spots on the pannels that can be spotted after the repaint sending lots od love and support from Macedonia love the work that yall are doing😁 oh and also slow and steady movements with the sander
Tyler stealth gray is my favorite. Tyler you are amazing and a natural behind the camera. As I said in a prior comment in another video you and your dad are an amazing team. Happy Mother’s Day to your mom!!!

It's is a hard choice from the 3 colors and I can't decide which one to choose because I really like all 3 of those colors and it was awesome to see your mom help you out of being a camera lady and help you out on sanding that car!🤠
Hello Tyler i,m very happy to see how hard you,re working on this Mitsubishi Lancer keep it up and yes im happy in any paint choice you make.for this cars colour.
I am absolutely in Love with this project, I am currently driving this very same model so I can identify myself with this project, as for the color scheme I think the color combination of the Hyundai Veloster would suit this car very well. Keep up the fantastic work. You guys are crushing this project.
@@SwampBoysGarage it is my utmost pleasure to follow along with this project, I want to see this project and want to follow to the very end, I know you guys are going to make this car look beautiful again. Keep up the excellent work.
I sometimes forget what UA-cam was created for, then I realized it isn't about rich kids paying to have their Audis wrapped or super cars. its about relatable people putting blood sweat n tears into building something up with actual skill because its their hobby not their income.
One thing you need to do, especially on the roof, is take it right back to bare metal and then wipe over some Deoxidine (phosphoric acid - also known in some shops as Dexoit) let this sit on the bare metal for about an hour then wash it off with water and sand again, this will kill the rust in the pore's of the metal and stop it coming back (providing you lay the etch and primer coats properly, if theres still signs of rust, sand and repeat with the acid wash (the acid wont affect your skin but wash it off to be sure you dont have a reaction to it), what your looking for is a clean rust free surface to paint, good luck!, you can also use the acid on other metal parts too to clean them up like bolts, nuts, arms etc etc, remove the aerial from the roof and get to the surface under that also.
bro this is sick reminds of fast and furious tokyo drift, pls get this modded its gem. Good brake pads, rims and maybe a muffler delete. love your content, stay safe and drive well!

Consider in the near future (maybe at 10k subs) doing a second channel of bloopers and how you guys set up. Your Dad is such an outstanding addition . Y'all are doing so dang good. I'm from Shreveport so I'm bias lol but y'all will be doing a Lambo in a year!
@@talalahmed4107 I know. I’m sorry. It’s final exams week in school then we have family vacation to go on. I hope to have a video on a highlander this weekend then when I get back from vacation we will finish the Lancer. We will have more frequent videos during the summer.
I used to work in a body shop that's what we do with heavy squats is 180 to get it prepped and ready and then 80-grit than 180 + 320 and let the sander do the work
You can paint it in Jetstream II Metallic color that Bentley did on the Bentley Continental GTC or maybe keep it subtle and do the Brooklyn Grey that is available for BMW X3.
Voting for the Nismo! Also get a painters scaffold that fits between two step ladders. Makes it so much easier doing the roof, either sanding or painting just walk back and forth Glad you're using a mask Tyler, should have safety glasses too.
It’s not this old Car popular on your channel.! It’s you young Man as Kid working as A Adult & doing the positive’ is what making your youtube channel popular?.👻
Glad to see you tackling the roof Tyler. I'm thinking you'll need to do some bodywork on it after you use a rust stabilizer. Those rust spots look too deep to just sand out. Good luck on your prep work.
When you wrap the hood make sure you don't overheat the vinyl. They tend to discolor when doing so. Always leave some Xtra material as well. Worse case scenario you can cut but you can't ever add. If posible use knife less tape. For. Those hard places or deep curves.
Oh also I would recommend painting the parts either way and just wrap on top. In case you decide you don't like it. You don't have to paint parts again and have mismatch issues.
Love the idea of going blue, but for your first paint job you really should stick with the factory white. It's the easiest color to shoot and you won't have mismatched jambs/trunk/engine compartment. I'd go with the factory color and a decent clear like Nason, or if you want to save $$$, go with a much less expensive (and easier to use) single stage paint, like Ford Oxford White.
I seriously debated going back white to make it easy but we bought the car to learn how to paint then fell in love with the car so want to go all out on it.
Also... You guys are going to want to sell this project and move onto the next when it's done. This is a stock, base model commuter car. It will sell quicker and for more if it doesn't look like something from Fast and Furious.
@@SwampBoysGarage Came over from Randy's channel and love that y'all are learning and listening to the constructive criticism! That roof... Even if you get "all" the rust off, it won't be all of it with it that far gone. I'd look into a rust converter or something that chemically removes what you can't get with sanding. UA-camrs Sarah NTuned and Legit Street Cars talk at length about this with their beetle and F150 Lightning restorations, respectively. Idea is... Those little black pits in the metal that you can't get out with sanding are rust, and will blister the paint or spread rust under a wrap over time. Gotta convert or remove chemically.
I think you should go with the Hyundai Performance Blue, it's a color that is close to the light blue from the old Leman days of the 60's and 70's and the rally car's from Europe from the same time period, It would be a great nod to racing days of the past.
The Nismo stealth gray would look amazing, all three are great options -- I would love to see an evo conversion of this build tho that would be quite the challenge but I think you two have what it takes. goodluck !

I was going to say the same. Good advice. Keep the sander flat and keep it moving with gentle pressure.
Solid advice, let the sandpaper cut the panel down evenly. Keep it moving with gentle pressure!
I think the GTR grey will look good on the car 👍🏻

Hyundai's blue looks best on a compact car. Not too dark, not too light and I think it'll have a nice balance of contrast with the carbon fiber wrap.

go with Miami blue the Porsche used on some of the 911's it will really pop with the carbon fiber wrap.
